Can't drag objects
I am unable to drag objects/textbox/etc in InDesign. I can resize using corner handles but I'm unable to click and drag object to desired location I've uninstalled, reinstalled, shutdown, restarted, cleared all settings, etc and nothing seems to work. I have never encountered this issue in all my years of using InDesign. Please help!

We thank you for your patience all this while.
Addressing this problem has been tricky for us given the random nature of the issue.
Determined to resolve the issue, we had launched our investigation into the matter to identify the root cause and fix it.
Many of you must have received email from us seeking more details about the issue.
We have concluded our investigation and came up with the below mentioned finding:
It was found that, most of the times, users were trying to drag an empty polygon which was leading the confusion because the legacy behaviour of InDesign allows dragging of polygon only from its edges or the centre most point.
If the user tries to drag it from any other position, the object cannot be moved.
We have tried to improve the user experience in this regard. You can try the same in InDesign’s latest version id 14.0.3.
Please download and install id 14.0.3 and let us know your feedback on the new experience.
Note:
If you are unable to drag other types of objects (other than empty polygons), please check the memory usage of your system. It has been observed that when the memory usage reaches the critical level, dragging of the objects become difficult.
As a workaround, you may either try to close some applications or restart the system.

Okay it seems a full system restart fixes it. Just restarting the program won't be enough, need to restart the whole computer.

Can't move objects or layers with the mouse, can only move objects with the arrow keys. There aren't any updates for InDesign CC currently, need this fixed, working with these limitations is making things take longer.

I'm using Indesign CC 19 v14.0.2 x64
I've noticed that some people are having the same problem, is there any solution?
Already trying uninstalling but it doens't work.Many Thanks,

Same problem, since update keyboard shortcuts (move/drag etc) not working. Tried restarting but still happening. Another forum said double click icon and as it opens hold opt, shift, apple command and it will bring up preferences but that didn't do anything either.

Can move objects with keyboard arrows but not with mouse
Restarting indesign does not work - updated indesign and still no change
Able to create new document but still cannot move object with mouse in new document

If you're on Windows, see if you have an update pending. I had the same issue happen to me then I found I couldn't drag anything on my computer (emails to folders, documents icons on desktop, etc) Did an update and now I can drag items in InDesign as well. Hope this helps.

Ran into the same issue here and hoped that there was a solution but I guess it’s just a bug
I’ve tried in the 2018 and 2019 versions of indesign which seem to have the same problem and it is accross all types of objects.
Creating a new document still gives the issue and closing all browsers still give the same issue. But the arrow keys work.

I am also having the same problem. All layers and objects are unlocked, yet I can't move anything. I tried creating a new document. It does the same thing. It's happening with all frames - text, graphics and basic shapes. Yes, I can resize. Starting/restarting doesn't help. I'm working on Windows 10.

Same problem here just updated my computer yesterday and since then i noticed that I can't drag.

Me too.
After multiple restarts, sometimes it will begin working correctly. Sometimes not.
Just updated INDD yesterday.
Windows 10 pro.
Arrow keys still work but that's just too slow for what I need to do today. I'm slammed and don't have time to restart every 15 minutes! -

Same Issue! Any fixes? I also can only use the arrows to move things. Big deadlines as well :(
