  1. Error with InDesign (Beta): "Some files required for color management are missing"

    Hi, when I start the just-released InDesign (Beta) on Windows ARM, I get the error "Some files required for color management are missing. Please re-install the application to ensure proper functioning".

    I've uninstalled and reinstalled, and have used the Creative Cloud Cleaner, but it doesn't resolve the issue. InDesign seems to be running OK even after getting the error, so it's more of a nuisance than anything. I may run into some issues in future with color management though.

    1. Adobe InDesign (Beta) 19.5 x64 (Mainline CI #09013C9)

  2. InDesign 2024 19.4 crashes if you apply a Style Pack to multiple selected unthreaded text frames. In previous versions this worked just fine

  3. Alert is shown on opening documents in InDesign(v19.4.0.63) - "This file is already open by another user or another application."

    After updating InDesign to V19.4, I'm now locked out of many of my previous design files. I'm receiving the error, "This file is already open by another user or another application. This file may be stored on a network server and cannot be opened until the other user closes it."

    I reinstalled V19.3 and can now access these old files but I would prefer to use the most up to date version if possible. happy to provide a sample if needed.

  4. Data merge not working for absolute paths on macOS

    With the latest update of 19.4, image paths no longer work for merge documents. I installed the latest update, which went back to 19.3, and have had no issues; therefore, I have isolated the issue with the update. I currently usean Excell file with an image field and the path to the image associated with each record. I have not changed anything in the file but with the new update I get the error message indicating the file is missing.

    Kindly update the data source file with the POSIX style path in Macintosh to work with data merge functionality smoothly. Please refer to the helpx https://helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/using/data-merge.html to know more about the difference between HFS and Posix style paths.

    You can get the actual POSIX path of a file by right-click it in the Finder while holding Option (or right-click, then press Option) > Copy as pathname menu. This can help you explore the correct POSIX paths to ensure you're using them correctly.

    Note: Relative path as such /<foldername>/<filename> is no longer supported after the fix, as it considers the starting “/” as an absolute path. Instead, the recommendation is to omit the starting “/” and use <foldername>/<filename> instead or any of the other existing ways to access the…

  5. Adobe InDesign 2024(v19.0) - For Hebrew Text, after applying Forced line break -The character direction changes to Left-to-right direction.

    When typing a paragraph in Hebrew there is a problem when doing Forced line break. The character direction become Left-to-right direction, insted of keeping the Right-to-left direction.

  6. Installing InDesign 2024 wiped all my preferences and workspaces

    Just as the title said - preferences and workspaces wiped, despite ensuring the checkbox 'import exisiting preferences' was turned on during install.

  7. InDesign 2024 starts with "CreateObject("InDesign.Application.2023")" in an environment where 2023 and 2024 coexist.

    Reproduction steps
    1. InDesign 2023 (18.x) is installed on Windows
    2. Install InDesign 2024 (19.0) there.
    3. Run the following code in VBScript.
    Set myInDesign = CreateObject("InDesign.Application.2023")

    Expected result
    InDesign 2024 (19.0) will start.

    Actual result
    InDesign 2023 (18.0) will start.

    cause
    InDesign 2024 installer is overwriting the 2023 registry.
    \HKCR\CLSID{231441AB-8969-4F6D-8CD1-B596C4047898}
    is the registry for InDesign 2023, but the InDesign 2024 installer has rewritten the contents to InDesign 2024. The same goes for related registries.

  8. Adobe InDesign 2024(v19.0) - Users are facing issues while scrolling using Trackpad/Touchpad

    I have installed the upgrade to Adobe InDesign 2024 (build 19.0) while keeping version 2023 (build 18.5) and have encountered the following problem:

    • After opening a document, the mouse scroll wheel does not seem to work (i.e. it is not possible to scroll up or down the contents of a page). However, this condition still works in InDesign version 2023.

    Has anyone encountered the same problem and found a solution?

  9. [macOS Sonoma]White Screen on drawing marquee/highlighting text in CPU and Overprint Preview modes

    Hi,

    Since I've updated my mac mini to Sonoma, when I use InDesign, the documents flash every time I click on it. If I click and hold, the screen become completely white. This is very annoying, almost impossible to work.

  10. Export PDF is crashing PAC checker due to font issue

    Since version 18.4, sometimes the embedding of specific fonts is causing PAC to get a system error. I know this because I sent my file to Axaio (made-to-tag) when I couldn't figure out why PAC was not working. They told me this started happening since version 18.4, which has something to do with fonts. They suggested finding a TrueType version of the font to get around this bug or download 18.3. I use Indesign all the time and need this bug to be fixed.

  11. Copy and Paste from Share for Review Comments panel not working

    You used to be able to copy/paste directly from the REVIEW panel COMMENT when you receive feedback. Now it won't allow you to copy what someone has reviewed and suggested as replacement text. This is very important as it makes it much more efficient to copy it from within InDesign rather than swapping between screens to do it from the browser. Please can you fix this! Thank you!

  12. 18.4 and 18.5 exported PDF corrupted

    Hi guys,

    Our books are printed in house with Xerox Nuvera 288 Presses. We recently faced this issue, and tho it should be addressed in 18.5 updated, we're still facing the same problem in 18.4 with 18.5 (Images attached below) where the whole book is printed out, but have left a single page blank.

    In this example, this page 85 went blank every time we ran it through the press when exported with 18.4 and 18.5, but got no problem with 18.3. This error also happened to 9 out of 10 book titles (exported with 18.4 and 18.5) that we…

  13. Numbering restarts from 1 after an unnumbered style in exported html

    1. InDesign 18.1 (since 17.2.1)
    2. Create a numbered list paragraph, insert a line of a different paragraph style not containing numbers, continue the numbered list on the next line, the number continues from the previous list. Export this file to an html file.
    3. Expect the number to follow what we see in the InDesign file
    4. The number restarts from 1 after the inserted line of a different paragraph style

  14. Extensions option not showing in "Window" menu

    The extensions option is not showing in the "Window" menu. When I go to Edit-> Menu I can see it as a visible option, but it does not show up. Please provide troubleshooting steps as I need to load a local extension into inDesign.

  15. InDesign CC2023 forces paragraph in overset

    Since the update to InDesign v18.0 (CC2023) the first line of a Paragraph with custom Bullet (Numbering) text, gets forced in overset when the first word is longer than 8-9 characters. They don't flow to the next paragraph and there is still enough space to keep the word in the Text Frame.
    In the example you'll see two Text Frames with one with the word "Duurzaamheid" cut in two and the second in overset with no space between "Duur" and "zaamheid" wich forces everything in overset. In InDesign 17.4 everything works as desired. Uploading an InDesign-file was not possible so…

  16. Issues with epub quality on the new 2023 update

    I'm a book publisher. I downloaded the latest InDesign update last week. I created the files and saved them like in the previous software. However, the vendors are all rejecting the epub files stating they're not validating in their epub software. I had to go redownload the prior version of InDesign, and it works like a charm. The glitch seems to be in the new version of the InDesign software.

  17. Error encountered while reading TIFF image

    Adobe Indesign 2023 (v18).
    When render TIFF images from Blender using the Deflate (ZIP) option.
    All other compression options gives images with black background and no transparency.
    Up to v17 Indesign 2022 these images imported just fine.
    When doing a resave in Photoshop with no changes, the images imports fine.

  18. Endnotes in ePub use identical id's where an id should be Unique

    When InDesign 18.0 and earlier versions make a reflowable ePub, the endnotes cause the file to be rejected when checked by https://www.ebookit.com/tools/bp/Bo/eBookIt/epub-validator. The reason: each endnote reference is embedded in a span with an id twice, and the name or identifier of that id is the same. In HTML (which is the construct of an ePub) each id should be unique. You cannot have a HTML file with two elements with the same id-name.   19. EPUB – Endnote backlink issues for INDB files

    When exporting EPUB 3.0 (and 2.01) from an InDesign(2022, version 17.4) book file, endnotes only link in the first chapter where they are found. Subsequent chapters reveal <a> tags with empty href attributes.
    Backlinks are required by virtually all ebook publishers. For academic books, endnotes are essential and the request for EPUB formats is only increasing.

    So far Adobe Car's response: "Currently, we do not have a workaround for this issue other than creating a single document instead of book or manually modifying backlink in the exported EPUB file." This isn't acceptable or even always possible.
