1. [ID-4273456] Press the opt/alt key after dragging, it duplicated to the incorrect layer

   InDesign 2026 （and earlier, too）I was found out in CS6.

   Issue:
   When drag and duplicate any object, the duplicate destination will be the previous active layer under certain conditions.

   Reproduction procedure:
   1 Layer panel "Paste Remembers Layers" check off
   2 Unselect, and duplicate the object Activate layers other than the layers of the object
   3 Start dragging and add the option/alt key in the middle of dragging
   4 After dragging, the object is duplicated to the layer that was active in step 2

   Ideal result:
   The uplication by dragging will be duplicated to the same layer as the original regardless of any setting.

   I really hope to correct it.

2. InDesign Color Settings Are Overwritten by Other Versions

   Summary:
   InDesign is unable to maintain separate color settings for each version. Whenever a different version is activated, the color settings are forcibly overwritten by the last activated version.

   Steps to Reproduce:
   Launch InDesign 2025 and set the color settings to “Preset A” (e.g., a print vendor’s recommended settings).
   Launch and activate InDesign 2024.
   Without any warning, InDesign 2024 will adopt the same Preset A color settings.
   This also occurs in the opposite direction: activating either version will overwrite the other’s previously configured color settings.

   Expected Behavior:
   Like Photoshop and Illustrator, InDesign should maintain independent color settings for each version.

   Actual Behavior:
   InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Bridge all write the currently selected color setting preset to the shared sync file:
   ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Color/ACEConfigCache2.lst
   This file is what allows Bridge to synchronize color settings across Adobe apps.

   However, InDesign is the only application that overwrites the settings record for another version of InDesign, regardless of version.

   Root Cause:
   All apps use the same file, but only InDesign fails to differentiate versions.
   This causes one version of InDesign to overwrite the color settings of another—simply by being activated.

   Commentary:
   This behavior disrupts professional workflows.
   In environments such as print production where different versions of InDesign must use different color settings (e.g., for different clients or print vendors), this is a critical issue.

   InDesign should follow the same behavior as Photoshop and Illustrator:
   Write version-specific entries to ACEConfigCache2.lst, and avoid overwriting other versions’ settings.

   Summary:

3. Hyphenation settings see note references as a character

   Hypenation settings consider a note reference as a character, so if you have a footnote callout at the end of a word and hyphenation settings are set to "before last 3" it will make 2-letter hyphenation.

5. Adobe InDesign 20.5 - InDesignEPS Import: UnmatchedMark error.

   Has anyone found a fix for this error "EPS Import: UnmatchedMark error" when placing a vector into InDesign? This has been a feature between programs for as long as I can remember and it is really frustrating that so many comments tell you "not" to do this as it is bad practice. It is definitely part of my workflow and helps create smaller, cleaner files, and streamlined, accurate colour palettes.

   When I apply a preset or a newly created CMYK swatch to MathML, the color does not match the value.
   It appears to be CMYK via RGB color.

   Thank you for trying out the MathML feature in InDesign! The math objects created using this feature are placed as SVGs, and hence they exclusively support RGB colours.If you try to apply a non RGB colour (CMYK/LAB/HSV-based), then by design it is converted to RGB before it is applied to the math object. This conversion is designed to enable users to continue using document colours that are not RGB-based for the math object SVGs.

7. resizing

   I'm unfortunately using InDesign 2026.0.2. One of my coworkers had the brilliant idea to update on day 1 ...
   I'm on Apple Silicon M1, with 2 monitors. Now, when I open up any document (I don't use application frame) it opens normal, as in any version before, size of 1 monitor, between upper task bar and macOS (26.1) dock. But as soon as you do anything, including opening a second file, the canvas expands way beyond the lower end and the right side of the monitor, making it impossible to work on the lower part of the last page of a document. The only way to avoid it, is to resize the canvas window as the first step after opening. Still opening a second file ruins that work around.
   It's annoying, as InDesign was actually for me the only Adobe program that was made with usability in mind. Using and loving it (mostly ;)) since version 1.5. And now I'm spending more time closing and opening files than actually working on them.

8. Error message is seen while opening InDesign after Photoshop 26.5 update

   Problem Description

   After the PhotoShop 26.5 update this morning, when opening InDesign, I got an error popup regarding a missing startup script in PhotoShop. The same thing does not happen in other CC apps.

   Workaround 1:

   1. Uninstall Photoshop 26.5 (make sure to remove preferences).
   2. Reinstall Photoshop 26.5. This will install the correct “photoshop_v2025.jsx”.

   Workaround 2:

   1. Open jsx, which is available at "/Library/application support/Adobe/Startup Scripts CC/Adobe Photoshop/" mentioned in the alert in the Text Editor
   2. Add } in the last line

   Hi,

   As confirmed by the user, the issue is due to the latest Photoshop update, and the workaround below would resolve the issue.

   Workaround 1:

   1. Uninstall Photoshop 26.5 (make sure to remove preferences).

   2. Reinstall Photoshop 26.5. This will install the correct “photoshop_v2025.jsx”.

   Workaround 2:

9. Preflight not showing all results

   I have a custom profile set up for preflight checks and although 614 problems are reported, in 2 categories, I can only see about the first 100 of each category. For example, the color space issues are shown only up to page 15, while my document has 180 pages. I am using InDesign 21.0.2.

10. My InDesign is 'behaving'

    My Indesign is "behaving." I don't know if some kind of AI has been installed, but it keeps trying to anticipate what I want it to do rather than doing what I want it to do. And it defaults to other functions when I use a different function (i.e. defaulting to text when I am using move to move a text box). Or it'll expand or contract a box when I select it to manipulate it. How do I make it stop? Or, at the very least, how do I turn off the AI?

11. Save As, Export and import file locations not behaving after Mac OS Tahoe update

    Previously for many older versions of Indesign, Indesign will remember your document, PDF export and import locations.

    Save As would always take you to where your current document is, PDF export would take you to your last PDF export location for that particular document, and Import would take you to your last import location.

    Since upgrading to Mac OS Tahoe - all of this has gone haywire. Save As will sometimes take me to the last location of the PDF export, PDF export will sometimes take me to where the document is located. And import is the same. I am now saving documents in the wrong folder all the time, my PDFs are all mixed up, and now that I am aware of the problem I have to check and re-navigate everytime I Save As or Export or Import. It's slowing me down a huge amount and mistakes are still being made.

    This needs to be addressed and returned to the previous workflow settings ASAP!!!!!

12. Unable to Place Illustrator Files from Adobe Projects

    When using Adobe Projects with Illustrator and Indesign 2026, Indesign does not recognize .AIC files as "compatible" files when attempting to place in an Indesign document. Indesign Version - 21.0.2, Illustrator Version - 30.1.

    Steps to reproduce:

    Create Illustrator document, save as Adobe Cloud Document, or in Adobe Project Folder
    Attempt to place document by Navigating to "File", "Place" or by pressing CMD+D
    Illustrator files will not be listed as available
    Selecting "On Your Computer" and navigating to an Illustrator file will allow it to be placed

    Expected Result:
    Being able to place a file from Adobe Project.

    Actual Result:
    None.

13. Deformation under proportional scaling

    We have a "round box" object. The dimensions along the x and y axes are the same. The page is in "rotated by 90°" mode. I move this circle to a corner so that it partially extends beyond the dimensions of the page. Then we scale it while holding down the shift key. At the same time, smart guides are turned on. The edges of the circle begin to deform, trying to stick to some reference line. As a result, the dimensions of the circle along the axes become unequal. The difference is only after the decimal point, but it is there.

14. Not loading cloud links > files don't work!!

    I'm sorry for this words, but I'm really ****** with the new update on indesign:

    I'm sorry but the new Update for Indesign is total ****. It's not loading my links from cloud servers and also I cannot update it via the program. So I have to start searching EACH document in the file (are you totally crazy???) to find out which link is missing because it's on a cloud server. I don't know what you did there. But everybody right now is working with cloud servers and it cannot just me going crazy right now because the files aren't working and sometimes I'm not able to export files.
    Please please fix this quickly, its horrible!

    When copying text between InDesign documents, the Word order changes

    I have a textlbox with this content:

     "22. DEZ - 03. JAN Weihnachtsferien Ende"
    

    I copy this block of text to the clipboard. Then I switch to another InDesign document and paste the text from the clipboard into it. In the target document, however, InDesign changes the order of the text components into a completely meaningless sequence

     "JAN Weihnachtsferien Ende .03 - DEZ .22"
    

    I made another attempt with this text:

     "Eins 6 Zwei 5 Drei 4 Vier 3 Fünf 2 Sechs 1"
    

    In the target document, InDesign turns it into the following text:

     "1 Sechs 2 Fünf 3 Vier 4 Drei 5 Zwei 6 Eins"
    

    So it seems that the sorting isn't arbitrary, but rather a specific order is being achieved. But what's the point of this nonsense? How can I prevent this nonsensical behavior?

    I use Release 20.5 x64 on Win10

    When copying text between InDesign documents, the Word order changes

    I have a textlbox with this content:

     "22. DEZ - 03. JAN Weihnachtsferien Ende"
    

    I copy this block of text to the clipboard. Then I switch to another InDesign document and paste the text from the clipboard into it. In the target document, however, InDesign changes the order of the text components into a completely meaningless sequence

     "JAN Weihnachtsferien Ende .03 - DEZ .22"
    

    I made another attempt with this text:

     "Eins 6 Zwei 5 Drei 4 Vier 3 Fünf 2 Sechs 1"

17. InDesign 21.0 black dot in red close button missing on macOS

    1. InDesign 21.0, macOS 15.7
    2. Open InDesign file, make a change.
    3. Black dot should appear in the title bar red "close" button along with asterisk by filename in document tab.
    4. Red "close" button remains "clean" without black dot.

    InDesign 2025 (v.20.5) exhibits correct behavior. InDesign 2026 (v.21.0) does not.

18. PDF files being sent to the wrong print tray despite the correct print information being selected.

    Adobe products are sending PDF files to the wrong tray in the printer despite the settings being correct this is mostly happening in both InDesign 2024 and 2026, but it is also happening with Adobe Reader 2020 as well.

19. imported mp4 showing as lines and not allowing poster frame

    When importing an MP4 the frame no longer shows the first frame image, it shows diagonal blue lines. A poster frame can also no longer be set.

    I've tried opening an old Indesign file that had an MP4 with a poster frame set and reimport the exact same MP4 next to it and it seems that the original MP4 works as expected, however the newly imported version of the same file doesn't show an image of the video and a poster frame cannot be set.

    Please find an example screenshot of this uploaded, showing the original MP4 working as expected (on the right, imported before the current version of InDesign), and the same file imported in the same way showing only a box with diagonal lines and no ability to set a poster frame (on the left of the uploaded screenshot).

    The version of InDesign is 21.0.

20. macOS - Corrupt file when saving

    Sometimes saving a indd file gets corrupted on macOS when running on apps on Apple's FileProvider.

    Version of Adobe InDesign: Any version of InDesign above v19.5.4
    Steps to reproduce the issues:
    * Have a file on the cloud based on Apple's FileProvider;
    * Open an InDesign file;
    * Make some changes and save;

    Expected result: File is saved, not corrupted and uploaded to cloud;
    Actual result: File sometimes is corrupt

    The error we receive is in attachment screenshot:
    "Cannot open "18AnalysisNexusAlaskaLPGPDynamicJun25.indd".
    The file "18AnalysisNexusAlaskaLPGPDynamicJun25.indd" is
    damaged (Error code: 4)."

    There are no crashes on InDesign
