Export as InDesignMarkup (IDML) ignores the color profile
When exporting an indd-file as an IDML-file we've experienced a problem. In the original file there's an embeded a specific color profile (ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI)).
If we check the exported idml file we found out that InDesign ignores the specific color profile and resets the profile to it's standard profile (U.S. Web Coated (SWOP)) - which is not the desired profile and not suitable for our european print environment. That was the reason of some color problems with some printing stores or agencys we're working with in the past.
At this time we couldn't find a solution or…

InDesign CC exporting idml's with errors not found in the indd file
When packaging InDesign CC 14.0.2 .indd files, the resulting idml file has content frames jumping around. The resulting packaged indd file looks fine, but in the idml content frames have moved resulting in images being cut off and text boxes shift cutting off text.
Process is simply packaging a working indd file with no particularly special settings. Package with indd, idml and pdf. This doesn't happen in every file, maybe 1 in 100.

Incorrect stroke styles when opening CC 2019 document in CC 2018
This is not an idea. It's a bug. When opening Indesign files built in CC 2019, from either the INDD or IDML file, often times the stroke style does not translate properly.
For example, often a line or a shape with a 1px Black stroke will import with no stroke at all.
I have never had this sort of incompatibility with IDML files in the past. I do not use CC 2019 because it hangs on every move I make.

Idml export issues
I have a file that won't export a fully formed .idml file. Here's my setup.
MacOS Mojave 10.14.4
InDesign 14.0.2.324Steps to reproduce: export or save one particular file as .idml format; open resulting .idml file.
Expected result: file should open as a new document.
Actual result: an error dialog pops up saying the file cannot be opened, with the error 'not well formed.'
This only occurs with one particular file, but it occurs on any Mac used to export the file, and with InDesign version 14.0.3
I have also tried to open the CC 2019 file in CC 2018,…

Embedded PDF/AI images causes documents created from IDMLs to double in size
File size almost doubles when exporting an INDD document to IDML and then re-save it as an INDD if it has embedded PDF or AI images.
Create a new InDesign document.
Place a PDF/AI image in it.
Embed the image in the InDesign file.
Save the InDesign file.
Export the InDesign file to IDML.
Open the IDML and save it as an INDD document. The resulting INDD document will have a file size of almost double the size of the original INDD document. This affects all versions of InDesign (CS6-CC2019) and embedded PDFs created in different applications (Illustrator, Acrobat, Preview).

Paragraph Return is changed into Paragraph Separator (U+2029)
Version: Indesign CC 2018 and Incopy CC 2018
The bug as described on https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2344905 still exists in the latest version.
During the exporting INDD into IDML, the error below occurs.
Certain Paragraph Return (\r) is changed into 'PARAGRAPH SEPARATOR'(U+2029) and the first sentence’s paragraph style is changed into the paragraph style of the second sentence which makes two sentences into one.
Every time this bug occurs, we have to open the INDD file and change “U+2029” into another character such as “space” and export it again.
Finally we found out that this error occurs when 8000th character is “Paragraph Return…11 votesThe fix for this issue is now available in the latest update 14.0.2 of InDesign 2019.

Space converting to line break in .idml
Imported Word documents sometimes include invisible character Unicode 2028. In InDesign CC2018 and in Word it looks like a space. When exported to .idml and reopened in client's CS6, it is converted to a Forced Line Break, which is problematic. Can you set 2028 to convert to a space in .idml?

CC2018 IDML files not compatible with CS6
Clients who have CS6 can't open any IDML files I create/export in CC2018. They receive an error message saying the format is unsupported or a plug-in is missing. IDML files created/exported from an earlier version of CC (2017) work fine.

ICML export doesn't include <HyperlinkPageDestination> elements
(Affects all versions of InDesign that support ICML export)
Export the story in the attached document to ICML. Delete the story in InDesign and then re-import the ICML. The Hyperlinks panel shows "The referenced paragraph or text anchor is missing".
This is only a problem for the ICML export of internal links. Hyperlinks to pages in external documents are exported correctly. The information is also correctly stored when saved to IDML.

IDML custom page sizes
When using an INDD file with custom page sizes, IDML export does not keep Master Page and Document Pages aligned properly, because it registers them as different sizes.
Even if the pages are the same.

Numbered list gets corrupted when saved and opened as idml
Version: Indesign CC 13.0 x64 Windows (and Indesign CC 2017)
- Create 2 paragraphstyles
- For ParagraphStyle 1 set bullets and numbering To List Type 'Numbers' and name it 'Multiple Choice' (or something else) and Level 1
- For ParagraphStyle 2 base it on ParagraphStyle 1 and change the text color
- Create some paragraphs with different combinations of these styles.
- Save as idml
- Open the idml
- Look at the paragraphs of the second paragraphstyle, you will notice that paragraphStyle 2 has a numbering of his own and no longer the mix with paragraphstyle 1.
Expected result: Same as before the save to idml.…

"Preview images" not updated or created in certain circumstances
Description: The previews are not updated in the following cases:
- When the file is saved in IDML file format (you need to save in in INDD format before)
- When the saving options are changed (under "Preferences > File handling") and the file is saved. You need to save the file with another name or make changes in order to have InDesign updating the previews.
Basically, from our tests, the preview images are only generated when the file is changed and saved in INDD format.

IDML Table style EndColumnStrokeType attribute missing
When an Alternating Column Pattern is created in a Table style any value for Type does not get exported to IDML.
I would expect to find the EndColumnStrokeType attribute, but it is never created. The equivalent StartColumnStrokeType, StartRowStrokeType and EndRowStrokeType attributes do exist.
The missing attribute is not documented in the IDML specification PDF.
Using version: 13.1 x64

Inner shadow applied to all images in document
I have a long document that crashed when I attempted to export to interactive pdf. I saved the file to IDML to fixed the problem. However, a new issue has been introduced. Many of the placed images and some graphic boxes, including master pages items have an inner shadow effect applied to them. I am using the current CC version of inDesign
