  1. Curves from Illustrator are straight lines in InDesign but fine when exported to PDF

I have a graphic that I've created in Illustrator that one of the curves displays as straight lines when viewed in InDesign. Export it to PDF and it displays as it should. The grey circle that this element sits on renders correctly in both. We have had this on files in the past. Any ideas?

I got/am still getting the same error, after uninstalling and reinstalling InDesign.

    2. Letter size w/bleeding edges.

    3. Selected the document.

    4. Did a CMD+D and selected my .psd file, which was created on April 26, 2018.

    Result: Error
Cannot place this file. No filter found for requested information.

    Thank you in advance.

  3. constrain proportions (& other hold-shift-to-use features) intermittent

I don't have the Webroot software described in the fix so it must be something else!

  4. 'Move Pages' causes the position of content to shift to the right on right-side pages, master same for both files

'Move Pages' causes the position of content to shift to the right on right-side pages, even though the master pages are the same for both files.

I am trying to take several page sets and combine them in one file, but I have to manually fix them after moving the pages over. Very concerning as I'm not sure if anything else is breaking or getting lost in the move.

  5. Object Style Size and Frame Fitting bug

    Where is what I did:
Create an Object style that has the size height and width set (I used 4x3in) AND the Frame Fitting Options set (I tried Fill Frame Proportionally with and without Auto-Fit). Import some photos. I did 4 at once and click-&-dragged them at different sizes. Frame size is correct, but frame fitting is ignored. It has to be applied manually after placement.

Fix of the issue is now available in InDesign’s latest November’17 update.
Please upgrade to the latest version InDesign CC 13.0.1 for the fix.

If you are unable to see the update, go to Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

    Thanks,
    InDesign Team

  7. Issue with images not showing when searching in InDesign

High Sierra InDesign 13.1 NAS File Server

When trying to search my artwork folder (called Color Art) for items containign the word "steak" on my NAS to place an image in InDesign it comes up as if it was empty. If I then leave InDesign and do a search the "steak" images appear. Not having this search function has been crippling to my dept. eating up all sorts of time.

  8. Identical shapes on different layers end up different sizes when scaled together using the selection tool

    1) This bug occurred on InDesign cc2017 and CS6. 2) Follow these steps to replicate the bug: create a shape, let's say a circle, and then copy this circle and paste it in a separate layer directly over the top of the first. To better see the effects of the bug, make the fill of the top circle red, and the bottom blue. At this point, the bottom blue circle is completely hidden by the red circle above it. Now put a 4pt stroke with an outside alignment on the bottom blue circle. The blue circle is still hidden, and…

  9. Placing illustrator files is very very very slow after update

After updating AI and INDD, placing AI files into INDD is taking a very long time. I made an update to an AI file that was placed into an existing INDD files that contains 13 placed AI files. I only updated a few of the linked AI files. Prior to the AI and INDD update, updating these placed links took a few seconds each max. Now, just to update the two links takes about 2 minutes.

This MAY be an AI bug, but I don't know how make that determination as I updated bothat the same time.

  10. links panel problems

So many problems with Links Panel after recent update:

  11. Links from CC Library suddely missing and can't be relinked

I sometimes have a problem with links from the CC Libraries, the links work fine when I save and close the file. But then sometimes when I open the INDD-file the day after it says that the links are missing, and when I try to relink it just say that "Either the file doesn't excist, you do not have read permissions to it or the file is used in another application".

But none of the options in the dialog box are correct, the files in the library still works fine in other documents. I have no idea how to fix…

  12. Object Layer Options not working using Photoshop files

I've placed the same layered photoshop files into ID three times to show how an animation works. Going to 'Object Layer Options' and clicking 'Keep Visibility Layer Overrides' is meant to keep your selected layers visible, even if the Photoshop is resaved. This no longer works. Once the link updates, all three update to look the same and forget which layers i've told it to show. Why?

  13. Cannot turn auto-fit to default

I am using Adobe InDesign CC 2018 13.0 for macOS (10.13.1). It seems that the auto-fit is default turned off right now. I changed the setting in Objet-Fitting-Framing Fitting Options and checked the box of Auto-fit with no documents open.

However, I am still unable to set auto fit into default.

    Thank you.

  14. BUG Make "Fit Frame to Content" finally work with rotated/skewd content

    1. Version: CS4 and above

    2. Steps: Just rotate/skew a picture within its box and use "FitFrameToContent" and watch the content gets cropped!

    3. Expected Result: The picture frame gets fit…

    4. Actual result: The content gets cropped.

  16. Minor Illustrator file changes not detected

InDesign does not recognize that an placed AI file has changed -- if the change is minor, for instance shifting graphics on the artboard. If Illustrator artwork is moved relative to the artboard, then just saved (command S), the file does not show as modified in the Links panel. In order for InDesign to see it as modified, the Illustrator file must be Saved As and overwritten. This is an ongoing problem for at least the last three iterations of InDesign, but specs are:
    InDesign CC 2017 13.0
    Illustrator CC 2017 22.0.0
    OSX 10.13

  17. Edit original not launching native application

Edit original was easy to access using option + click linked image.
Since the latest update InDesign v14.10 and Mac OS Mojave, this action opens the 'Import PDF' dialogue and if you click 'Ok' launches Photoshop. The linked image is an Illustrator .ai file. All used to work, why the change?

  18. InDesign Enlarges New Assets larger than their Bounding Box

Since the new update, every time I drag an image or logo, etc. into Indesign and drag out how large I want the asset to be displayed....
    - Indesign places it (after a short delay), but makes the bounding box smaller than the actual asset. So the logo gets partially covered by the bounding box.

I'm not using the content aware sizing or anything. The bounding box should exactly match the asset as its being dragged in for the first time. Very frustrating.

    Hi Patrick,
We’re sorry to hear that the latest version of InDesign is not behaving as per your expectations.
You said that you are not using Content Aware Sizing. However, could you check once again to see if you have enabled the setting ‘Make Content-Aware Fit the default frame fitting option’ in the Preferences dialog (under General section)?
Also it would be helpful if you can show us a quick demo of the issue and/or share the file (along with the asset).

  19. images are missing

When opening v.2018 Indesign files or new v.2019 files, bitmap images are not displayed. Images are shown as gray boxes with an X across the box (see attached). Display settings changes do not remedy the problem.

I have to work in v.2018 until this is fixed.

  20. fitting rotatet bitmaps

I do not know if it's a bug or feature request:
Rotated bitmaps should be fitted to fill its box completely. After fitting no box-backgraund or transparency inside the box should to bee seen.
Was it not in former versions possible?
