  1. InDesign Export PDF - Misisng font style (i.e., italic, bold, tiny text changed)

    Dear InDesign Folks,

We've found some font style attribute changed in PDF file, another one issue is Ligature text missed out at PDF file.

Application: InDesign CC 2015.0 Version 11.0.
    Windows: 7 & 10 Pro

    Steps & Process:
    1. We are generating 2 set of PDF with different Job-options.

    1. PAP Layer enabled PDF (i.e., particular layer enabled and creating the PDF, it's contains Images and Text like water mark).

    2. PRINT Layer disabled PDF (i.e., disabled the layer which we enabled in step 2).

    3. Using JavaScript generating 2 sets of PDF at a time.

  2. Effects appearing in wrong place when exported to PDF

    My Case Number: ADB-6422050-V1R6

I've been exporting a document which uses the bevel/emboss effect. Part of the element is outside of the frame of the document. The effect on the part of the element outside the frame is being moved into the frame when I export it into a PDF. In the screenshot, you will see that in InDesign, the yellow pad is completely yellow on the left inside the frame of the document, but the edge of the image outside the frame is white; when you view in preview mode you don't see the white. However, in the screenshot…

  3. Background Tasks panel

I'm not trying to post an idea or add something.
I merely want the Background Tasks panel to actually be useful!

When a file fails to export... no reason is given! Just that it failed. WTH? How can that in any way be deemed to be a "reason" or much less... useful in finding the issue and fixing it?

A fail reason... bad font, corrupt file.

  4. Indesign 14.0.1 pixellated output in export to PDF

    Indesign 14.0.1
Export to PDF using press quality job option does not produce high quality images the way the previous version used to do and all ends up pixellated at screen resolution only. The only way I know of producing press ready files is now to "package book for print", in which case, if you select your usual press ready PDF option, the conversion definitely works.

  5. Weight remains on text when exported to pdf even if changed to zero.

    I am using InDesign CC 2019 14.01 x64.

Once a stroke weight has been added, if you then change the stroke weight back to zero, then when you export to pdf the pdf will have a stroke weight added to the text, even though the indesign document looks correct. It may not have the original amount of weight that was added, but it will definitely have what looks to be around a .2 weight added.

However, if you were to start a new document, then add stroke weight, then click edit - undo stroke weight, then it would export to…

  6. pdf

Since the last update Indesign export to pdf in all resolutions don't compact the files down. They are huge. Everything up to the last update pdfs even if high resolution would size way down. Now it is almost like it doesn't do anything. Need this fixed. It is almost like the coders for Illustrator went over to Indesign to put in their bad pdf export routine. Illustrator has never compacted pdfs well ever!. I demand that the pdf export get fixed pronto and put back the way it was. Sending pdfs by email is now useless. I shouldn't have to…

  7. Accessibility-Tag Tree-Data Merge

ID 14.0.1, Mac Pro, Sierra 10.12.6
Tags are not in proper order in exported PDF
Using Data Merge to create many pages of text and table from large Excel file Col A-FF. Each row produces one page. The first section of the page tags are at the top of the tag tree, followed by the first section of each successive page. Then the Next tags (from the tables) are listed, again by successive pages.
To remediate, all (table) tags have to be moved to the proper page.

  8. Interactive PDF go to destination not working

    Using InDesign CC 2019 14.0.1

I have a 24 page report designed for print, with an additional layer which when visible adds interactive buttons to the top left corner of each page so I can also export an interactive PDF. The buttons are:

    Go to previous page
    Go to next page
Go to destination linking to the contents page

The document also contains URL hyperlinks and the contents links to each section of the report using bookmarks, but is not set up as a TOC. I'm not using any functions under the SWF/EPUB only section.

    When exported as an interactive…

  9. PDF fails to export InDesign 14.0.1 - Still an issue

    So many bugs in InDesign!!!

    1) Export to PDF (any settings) works once after starting InDesign. Then fails on any attempt to re-export. Which ever preset I use - error. Nothing special about the file - nothing!

    2) Also, and I know it's not about PDF, Keyboard shortcut to start a New Document does not work on startup. I have to click on file menu and open the sub menu item New – then the shortcut works :| No error – nothing! It just does not respond to shortcuts.

BTW: Posting this by clicking "Post idea" does not mean that…

  10. fi creates embedded subset

When I use the two letters "fi" in that order, when I export PDF, I get embedded subsets. This is on multiple fonts.
if I switch the case of f"I" to fI upper case (EYE), then the embedded subset issue goes away. (the case of the first letter "f" does not matter.
    example so words:
    first
    fit
    profit
    indentifies

  11. Export PDF causes unresponsiveness when clicking "same as Document Name" box and changing the filename manually

InDesign freezes and becomes unresponsive when...

Using the latest version of InDesign 14.0.1 on macOS Mojave 10.14.3 and exporting a press ready PDF (setting modified to include bleed and crop marks), checking "Using InDesign Document Name as the Output Filename" and then adding some text or changing the filename manually in the save dialog, InDesign freezes afterwards. The PDF is exported successfully, but the program locks up.

When not checking the box and exporting a PDF there are no problems.

  12. table header image not showing PDF

    https://indd.adobe.com/view/029f4fe9-1108-4554-ba34-c8e4c510750c
Use the link to see the document all correct however when exporting to PDF the images in the header for pages 2 & 3 disappear. You can test this using the link or by using the attached file. Both get the same result. But looks perfect in inDesign.

  14. Selecting 'No language' from styles advanced options really exports the tag to EN in PDF

When you have a document with multiple languages and the main language isn't available in InDesign's presets, ie the document is mainly in Kirundi or Samoan and there are some English phrases, a user should be able to select 'No language' from the style's advanced options. Instead, 'No language' will export as EN and the tag in the PDF will have EN listed as the language in the tag's properties. This is problematic because the tag's language will override the document's language properties. This is a clear failure of WCAG SC 3.1.2 (language of parts).

    A screen reader won't be…

  15. Images with transperencies and placed in formular fields are separeted wrong when exported as PDF.

PNGs and PSDs with transparency and directly imported in an InDesign formular field are separeted wrong when exported as a PDF and separeted to cmyk. The images are too dark with a green tone.

This happens in the last InDesign versions til the last CC2019 (14.01).
Mac OS 10.14.3 and also in El Capitan

  16. PDF export - massive file size difference between 143 and 144 dpi

I've been exporting a couple of display stand artwork pieces from inDesign cc19. My background flattened jpeg in the inDesign document is 200dp and the rest is a few vector objectsi. I export using the PDFX1a:2001 spec as this is what the printer requested. By default the file size for 1.07GB, which is huge. I adjusted the downsampling on export and found that setting it 143dpi produces a 15.3MB PDF, yet changing it 144dpi makes the file hundreds of MBs. So 1 dpi changes drastically how big the PDF output file size is. Why is this?

  17. PDF Export Formatting Issue

I found that no matter what export options I use or how I format my file, it exports incorrectly. My content is in 2 columns on InDesign but when exported it seems pretty random how the PDF is structured (see the image).

This poses a problem for parsing software to be able to read the document in the correct order. It's common practice within most companies to use this for resumes. I'm sure it's also used elsewhere as well.

I've contacted support and they tried to resolve the issue by using my computer remotely. They found that this feature is…

  18. Cannot export pdf from Adobe InDesign. Latest version. Latest Mac OS. Hasn't worked since September 2018.

I am beyond frustrated with Adobe. I cannot export a pdf from Adobe InDesign either conventionally nor when publishing online. I am running the Latest version. Latest Mac OS. Exporting hasn't worked since September 2018. This is debilitating to my business. I need a solution and not a workaround, please.

  19. Pdf export Doc- Blank Pages NO printing of png. Images - Latest InDesign Version

    Hi
I believe I am not the first one to experience this terrible frustration, not being able to get a clean Pdf export doc that I send to print. One blank page is coming out of the printer instead of the one with the pics. I use Mojave 10.14.3 and the latest InDesign version. I also unchecked the PrefLight box.
Anyone can help to sort out that issue?

  20. In exported PDF, Hyperlinks jump to wrong page when their Text Anchor destination has moved to a different page due to reflow

    Hi

In my InDesign file I have a Contents page with 10 hyperlinks to the first page of my 10 chapters. I created Text Anchor Hyperlink destinations on all 10 target pages, and then created Hyperlinks to them from the Contents page.

The document is 180 pages long and uses a Primary Text Frame, and all the text anchors are contained within the main text flow.

In 9 of these cases, clicking the hyperlinks in the exported PDF jumps to the correct page, but in one of them, clicking jumps to the NEXT page following the text anchor.

    However, if…
