Make spellcheck apply to paragraph styles
It would be super useful to be able to run spellcheck only on certain paragraph styles. I run a directory that includes hundreds of names that get flagged, and if i I could run spellcheck just on body copy + headline paragraph styles, it would save me hours each month.

Allow Data Merge to use .csv with semicolon separated text
Currently one has to use tab separated text (.txt) or comma separeted text (.csv). When using the .csv-export from Excel, it generates semicolons as separators, which is helpful because there may be a comma inside a table cell. So it would be helpful to use this text directly in InDesign.
This might be an issue only in the German version of Excel/InDesign, but it causes a lot of trouble.8 votesThis feature has been implemented in InDesign 2020. Please use this version of InDesign to use this feature.

Frame / Cell strokes and border-radius more like CSS
As an extension of the idea 'Allow different coloured/weight strokes for sides of a text box' - I would like this to apply to table cells as well.
I use InDesign to do high-fidelity web UI mockups. It would be really nice if there were more options which corresponded directly to CSS.
What we would need is the ability to set a per-object or global equivalent to "box-sizing: border-box", so that stroke weights don't add to the size of a table cell, but always render aligned to the inside.
Secondly, give regular text frames the same editing ability as table cells, with per-side stroke colours and weights.
Third, enable border-styles equivalent to CSS standards.
Fourth, as a convenience, being able to set border-radius on table cells (or even just the outer corners of an entire table) without it affecting inner cell padding would be marvellous; currently we have to hack this by layering a transparent table over a rectangle with rounded corners.

How to export multiple InDesign files to PDF
Hi.
How to export multiple InDesign files with different formats to multiple PDFs. Is there a Drag & Drop feature directly from InDesign documents to create PDFs in this way?

[Scripting] Edit QR Code
It would be good if we could read the contents of an Indesign-generated QR Code via script.
Currently it is possible to read the contents by exporting the QRCode graphic as a snippet and reading the XML. We see this:
<PlainTextQRCode Self="ueb" PlainText="https://adobe.com"> <Properties> <QrCodeSwatch type="string">Black</QrCodeSwatch> </Properties> </PlainTextQRCode>
but this is an obscure and time consuming approach and it would be sensible to be able to derive the "https://adobe.com" value directly via the scripting API, and ideally change it—causing the QR Code to regenerate.
I'm not sure how best to implement... maybe a new method: Graphic.getQRCodePlainTextContents() and Graphic.setQRCodePlainTextContents(myString) etc.

Create a filter to see/use only ONE font language within font option cascades
A request to Adobe: Include an option in the "font filter" to turn on/off each language of fonts. Adobe still offers a multitude of foreign fonts for its cloud-based software that cannot be turned off in the cascade of font options, eating up space and simply slowing down work flow for those of us who speak and work in one language. Please please fix this. "Noto" font options, in particular, requires a few pages of scrolling to get past EVERY TIME I browse for a new font to use.

table accessibility
InDesign to PDF - Table Accessibility. Please add a way to scope and add an ID to table heading cells. Add a way to then associate table headers to data cells. Ensure that the table elements are properly exported to PDF tags. No table tags are available to be mapped to any InDesign style using Export Tags.

Indesign 2024 not working with window-snapping apps
I recently upgraded to InDesign 2024. I use BetterSnapTool to arrange my app-windows in order to have a efficient and practical workflow. But InDesign 2024 does not work with BetterSnapTool (BST) or any other window-snapping apps due to this reason I received from the BST support:
"Unfortunately all window manager apps on macOS are affected by this, Adobe has broken their window resizing behavior in their recent updates. Their products do not respond correctly to window resizing requests using the macOS Accessibility API anymore. As of now I don't think there is anything I can do to fix this. If possible please also report to Adobe, they would need to fix this in their apps."
BST works with every other application. I have reset InDesign preferences, but it still does not work properly. Therefore I still use InDesign 2023, since BST works perfectly fine with that application. The problem is that when I for instance snap ID2024 to 2/3 of the screen and I put another application in 1/3 of the screen (so far it works) but when I go to the 1/3 app and copy information and return to ID2024, ID2024 goes back to full screen again. Very annoying and it destroys my workflow. Adobe please fix this! I enclose a short videoclip to show how badly it behaves...I recently upgraded to InDesign 2024. Buttons and forms (Interactive) panel needs revamping
The panel is barely usable in it's current form for anything more than a few buttons per page due to not being able to increase the height and width of the panel, especially the visibility section when a button is highlighted. At the bare minimum this needs to be resizable so that more can be seen so that linking and adjusting the on/off states of buttons can be performed more easily.
Ideally, the panel needs an overhaul so that multiple buttons can be shift+selected so that they can be set to be called before being visible by default, or switched on or off as needed. It'd would be greate if additional flag settings could be applied to a button so that we can filter/sort the view of the interactive elements on a page from within the panel itself.
Best case scenario would be an entirely revamped digital/interactive workflow suited to this decade, pulling in what you've learned from XD and everything else so that we can more easily generate engaging digital output from our production run content!

Better Relinking to CC Libraries
I'd love to see some much needed quality of life/functionality improvements to CC Libraries in InDesign when relinking:
Ability to Search when relinking
Ability to see/sort by groups when relinking
Ability to change view (thumbnail/list) when relinking to CC Libraries
Infact, anything more than the current 'Relink to CC Librarires' functionality, which is literally just a list of every single asset in that library sorted by name
We have thousands of assets in some of our libraries, which are all nicely sorted by group. But this is useless when this is completely ignored by the CC Libraries panel.

Add more (EU) Blank Document Presets like A6, Square
I don't understand why we're still limited to A4, A5 and A3, but other common sizes like A6 and A0 are missing. Same goes for social media sizes. Making our own presets would be a solution if we were able to arrange the preset order. Please add more options and/or make it easier for us to arrange our new document screen.

Font Height Reference. Can we have this existing Illustrator functionality for Indesign?
This is very useful for producing legible large-format environmental graphics. Often distance legibility tables are based on the x-height or the cap height. Being able to set these directly without an Em box look-up will save a significant amount of time.

LayoutWindow to get and set view bounds
With LayoutWindow.bounds I can get and set the bounds of the window, but I want to get and set the bounds of the view port, ie. what the user sees inside the window. If view port bounds is too difficult, then just a centerOfView coordinate would be fine—combined with the already-available zoom value, that would achieve most things I'd need.
For what it's worth, it is possible to do what I want in Illustrator.

Page number ranges in TOC
Table of contents don't have the ability to add page ranges.
So the contents look like this:
Section A . . . . . . . 1
Section B . . . . . . . 5
Section C . . . . . . . 9
When they should look like this:
Section A . . . . . . . 1-4
Section B . . . . . . . 5-8
Section C . . . . . . . 9
All this needs to be implemented is to have the second number be one page less than the following number.
This would cover most situations and would be auto updating.

WEBP - Please add an export option in InDesign to save as <FILENAME>.webp
Please add an export option save as webp.
Hello, I do a lot of my flyers and promotions in InDesign and have been exporting them as PNG for years. So instead of me saving the file as PNG then opening the file in Photoshop and exporting as webp, having an export webp feature in Indesign would a better streamline workflow.
I've read that webp is a better solution for web graphics Webp in 75% lossy format is a better looking and compressed file than PNG it will save loading times on my website and eblasts.
See my PS exports from a 40 Meg File using 75-100 percent quality.

Text Frame Auto-Size in story mode (linked frames)
Dear Indesign Development Team,
Please fix the Auto-Size Text Frame feature in InDesign. When running a story through multiple text frames the Auto-Size feature does not work. The feature should recognize the Frame Break or Column Break symbol as the end of the text in a frame and Auto-Size the frame accordingly. Please! I am tired of hacking my way through features to get the result I want while I feel it should be real simple.

Include InCopy editorial notes in grouped/anchored objects in PDF comments
Currently if you add a note to an anchored or grouped object these do not appear as comments in exported PDFs from InCopy. This leads to artworkers possibly missing important change requests from InCopy users. I'm not sure if this is a bug or a technical limitation but it is not stated anywhere in the documentation for InCopy. User expectation is that all notes will be included as comments in exported PDFs.

A free basic version of incopy for client amends.
Being able to send clients their copy to make minor amendments would be hugely convenient
