Datamerge with several different datasources for different versions
Version: CC19 (14.0.1) on Mac OS 10.13.6 (High Sierra)
When there are datamerge-placeholders that are not in the datasource, the export aborts and you have to delete the placeholder.
When these placeholders are on invisible layers the same happens. In my case, sometimes i get different datasources for different versions of the same document so i put the different version on a new layer and make it invisible until i use the corresponding datasource for it.
Maybe a choice for the user to continue nontheless (only when placeholders are on invisible layers, to protect the user from using the wrong datasource on visible layers) would be a nice way of handling that situation instead of aborting immediatly. It would be more flexible and yet still warning the user about missing datasource-fields.
A second solution could be, to set a flag on the affected fields in the datamerge-panel, so they get ignored by the placeholder check. That way i could use them on my invisible layer without the need to delete them for export.

Bring back the Paragraph Direction button/option that was removed in v14.0.1.
Bring back the Paragraph Direction button/option that was removed in v14.0.1.
I am using Middle East InDesign, with English/Arabic language app option.
I have been informed by Adobe Support that v14.0.1 has removed Paragraph Direction all together. Since I have to work with Arabic frequently, this is VERY disruptive since Arabic is written right to left. It seems that even Change Text Direction has even been removed from the Character window options, so I can't find any possible workaround.
I don't understand how any users that need Right to Left written languages will even be able to use your updated products anymore.
Please restore this feature or a feature that can achieve the same result.

Content Aware Fit separate setting for rasters and vectors
I like using Content Aware Fit on most photos but it doesn't make it sense to use it on vectors like logos. So I have to turn it on and off constantly. Perhaps there could be separate preference checkboxes so that Content Aware Fit can occur when placing photos but not vectors.

Ability to turn on/off Effects by checking box
Often times when using a preloaded Effect, such as drop shadow, gradient, etc., after creating you realize you don't like it or want to see what it looked like without the effect.
Rather than having to click back into the options panel to turn off the effect, it would be nice to be able to click the check mark and turn it off or on without going into the options menu.

Angled text in table cells
In Cell styles, please let us nominate the angle of the text, don't limit us to the up/down left/right options currently available. I want to put in 45° text.

FINDING AND HIGHLIGHTING DOCUMENTS IN THE BOOK PANEL.
Hi
I have a long document, each page sets to one document file (e.g. 200 pages equal 200 documents in the Book Panel!). Each book file has own title, some titles are short and some longer.
Finding documents by their own name is necessary for me through this long list and finding by scroll down and up to find a specific document is time-wasting, boring task.
I didn’t find any features in the Book Panel pop-up menu. Do you know any tricks to find a document by its own title among the many documents in the Book panel?
Also, some books files are incomplete and some complete and ready to print, export, publish and etc.., I’d like to mark or highlight some documents by something like a checkbox tick, changing color or something like that as finished documents and vice versa for incomplete ones to edit and modify later.
It would be useful when we work on many books/documents, and we want to back them to finish those incomplete documents in future, not now.
So opening and checking complete documents is not important and just we want to open and edit, modify unfished documents.
As I understood and checked out the Book panel, it’s not possible to recognize which documents are finished, which ones needs to edit, modify, etc. later.I wish Adobe thinks about these challenges and fix them soon. (1- Finding documents in a long list by their own names and titles that we give to documents easily 2- Marking/highlighting documents by colors, checkbox or any user-friendly features and options to recognize which documents need to edit later and which ones are ready to export.)
Best

Reset Bounding Box Menu Item
In my workflow, I need to export JPGs from Indesign by selection quite often. If the bounding box is rotated, it creates excess space around the graphic when exported. It would be very useful and time-saving if there was a menu item to "Reset Bounding Box" similar to Illustrator.

I want to delete/remove/manage Recent files from the Start panel.
I archive completed projects, but still have to wade through the empty icons in the Recent files list. It would be nice to right-click > Remove the icons. It must be a simple JDI thing! :)

you had content fitting into frame options available in the tools ribbon. Not anymore. WHY?
you had content fitting into frame options available in the tools ribbon. It's been removed, and now it's a nuisance. :( Bad user experience.
The same with content placed HORIZONTALLY inside the text frame (Top, middle, bottom placement).
Now to access both features I have to go to the menu instead of clicking a button on the tools ribbon. Do not remove working solutions. It's not intuitive and is totally frustrating :(

Bigger preview in Import pdf panel
It is hard to see the PDF preview in the Import PDF panel.
It would be great if you could choose the size of the thumbnail or adjust the size of the entire panel.3 votes -

More visible frame edges
Frame edges are too thin. Too hard to see. Please consider teachers teaching your product in class on a projector.
Even if there was a setting in Preferences for heavier frame edges.
Something... please.

Control over sorting order of Library assets
It would be very helpful to have control over arranging the order of assets in InDesign library. It would also be great to create folders within the library to group assets.

Stroke weight should not factor into scale of object.
This should work more like Illustrator, where PATHS determine size and snapping

Split one text box into multiple text boxes
Split one text box into multiple text boxes at the click of a button. I have a list of text from Excel that I've formatted, but I now need to distribute every word individually around the page. A 20 minute job could be turned into a 1 minute job.

Align Content on page - not just objects or selection
It would be great to have a button panel to align to page, not just align objects or align to selection. For example when I want text or an image dead center on the page it would be great to just be be able hit a keyboard shortcut or click a button and have it align to center of page, horizontally, vertically or both. I know there's tons of ways to work around it, but it would be so nice!

Add Text Macros like in InCopy
I create a lot of documents that have textual elements that are repetitive, like resumes that include a project description. When using MS Word, I use the Quick Parts functionality to capture that text and insert it whenever I need it.
My company is just beginning to explore the InDesign/InCopy workflow, and I saw that InCopy has a feature much like Quick Parts, called Text Macros. I could really use this if it was implemented in InDesign as well. I have used Autocorrect for similar functionality, but I have never tried it with more than a few words at a time.
I am guessing that more if more InDesign users were aware of this functionality, they would find it useful as well.
