Make the Set Tab Order... panel resizable and interactive elements be allowed to be grouped into Sets
Make the Set Tab Order... panel resizable. When there are numerous interactive elements on a page, the tiny Set Tab Order panel is cumbersome to use. Make it re-sizable for convenience. Also interactive elements should also be able to be grouped into Sets in the Set Tab Order panel for easy sorting.

Enable color palette folders to move from the bottom of the swatches list
I want to be able to move the palette folder I'm working from to the top of the swatches list. If I have a document that has several colors, I have to scroll to the bottom to find the folder with my template colors.

When deleting a layer, I offer to make it possible to replace the removed layer with another one of your choice
When deleting a layer, I offer to make it possible to replace the removed layer with another one of your choice.
As, for example, this is done when removing a color from the color palette.3 votes -
Ligatures - a completely stupid *OPTION* Adobe shoves down our throats
So, ligatures is rearing it's ugly head again.
I simply cannot fathom why Adobe feels the need to shove this option down our throats.
I am working with documents I have used in the past 2-3 months and now, I would guess a recent update to InDesign, the ligatures option is on by default and is now reformatting my documents for me.
Great. Thanks Adobe. Thought you were a professional software development company, clearly not.
Can you not understand the MASSIVE IMPACT this has on my workflow, now having to check all pages of all documents I am sending out to print? Can you imagine if one of your ligature-laced piece of **** hits my client's desk after they print 20,000 copies of it?
Abobe - what gives you the idea that we all WANT LIGATURES? Ligatures are nice for fancy type formatting, but I have absolutely NO CLIENTS who want to see this AT ALL. EVER.
Please stop pretending you know what's best for us. InDesign, Illustrator, and PhotoShop have gone through probably the worst year of **** since they were first developed. I could post a list 20 miles long on here detailing the bugs, omissions, failures of all of these apps.
Ligatures? What a completely kludge.
So, for anyone encountering this BUG. And it IS a BUG to have this turned on all by itself... when you launch InDesign, with no docs open, Character palette -> Option pop-out, uncheck ligatures.
Turn this OFF for ALL DOCUMENTS. And only turn it on if you absolutely need it.
Because with it ON - you will end up with some of the worst, stupid ligatures for characters you never thought could possibly be ligatured. Yeah, I said ligatured.
As in Adobe is freaking ligatured.

The ability to link Excel Charts and Graphs within InDesign
Link directly to charts and graph content which can be refreshed by updating the Excel link. I often use the ability to link data and tables, but really need to be able to do the same with charts and graphs. Thanks.

Fit to Page
For presentation purposes, I find myself making a Picture Frame at Document Size a lot. Would be nice to have a 'Fit to Page' function to do this accurate and in one click.

control blank document options when making new doc
When i go to create a new document, I look at presets but it continually shows me 'legal' etc (american sizes) which I've never used instead of A3, which I use often. I don't understand. WHy can't it either remember or let us organise them?

Align to column function
InDesign really needs an align to column function, especially for centering objects within a column. This seems to be a really simple oversight.

"Yes to All" button when edits have been made to the imported version of a file location.
The lack of a "Yes to All" button when updating all links to a file location is debilitating. I literally have to press enter almost 3,000 times every time that InDesign notifies me that...
"Edits have been made to the imported version of "document name.here". You will lose these edits (with the exception of changes applied to spreadsheets through cell styles or table styles) when you update the link. Update anyway?"
The only options are "Yes" or "No" which requires me to sit there and hit the enter button for each pop-up message for an hour! Not to mention that all of my changes are always applied via cell and table styles, so the message doesn't even apply to me. Because of my regular work in these large project sizes, I have to do this 3,000 enter button dance several times per week. It is a pretty infuriating waste of time for an easy "Yes to All" button addition.

Add a "relative to document" toggle to scale X and Y percentage
Add a "relative to document" toggle to scale X and Y percentage. So you can see the percentage of an object relative to the document size. This makes for easier scaling from different sizes. For instance if you have the toggle on and want to scale an object to 100% of the document width, just enter 100% and it will fill the complete width.

Better variable management
The ability to better manage variables in a document would be very helpful. The possibility to import a List without using 3rd party scripts, an overview which are in use and where, a search function, etc...

Own individual font/type/characters categories
I think everybody has a large font libary. It would be great if we could make own individual tags or categories (groups) to organise the font library.
For Example:
"Project xyz" (5 types/fonts)
"Fresh" (..10 types..)
and so on - so creating own groups for type3 votes -
share for review
It would be really helpful to be able to switch between multiple "share for review" links that are created for one document (ie: client vs. internal) - the same way we can in xd (xd screenshot attached).

Differentiate Native Styles vs Styles that came in with copy/pasted text
I would like for there to be some type of differentiation between Styles in documents when copy/pasting or bringing in new styles. Old styles get mixed up with new ones, some have the same names (body copy for example) so it's hard to tell which ones are from pasted copy and which are the ones I'm currently using in my document.
Open to any format as long as the Styles from the original document are all in one grouping and any styles from Copy/Pasted text are in another distinct grouping. This could be done by folders, or color-coding, splitting the tool window, etc

No stupid US Letter size for UK
No stupid US Letter, tabloid & legal sizes in New document presets (for UK version of InDesign), I know we share a language but we don't want that nonsense. Can we have more sizes we use like A2, A1 etc

Allow special characters to be added in front of note number when importing footnotes (e.g., tabs).
The "prefix" option for "document footnote options" should allow that, but only permits the few options in the pulldown menu. We should be able to insert any character before or after the footnote text.

Activate HTTPS and Youtube links
I know, there are many complains about no possibility to use https links for media files, but would be great to add not only them, but Youtube links also.
I have downloaded 15.1.2. version, and the problem still not resolved. This is very sad, that so cool option as an interactive pdf-file loses sense.3 votes -
Interactive text field options that do not exist in InDesign, but do in Acrobat.
I make a ton of interactive PDFs in InDesign. Why can I not set things like character limits or centered text within InDesign so I can save the settings in the .indd file? Instead, I am forced to make these changes in Acrobat. This means that any changes to the .indd file require that I remake the PDF format changes in Acrobat. EVERY TIME!

Deprecated GPU renderer
I found out today that indesign uses the OpenGL engine on Mac Mojave, despite the fact that Apple no longer supports the technology. Why? Can you fix it to improve Indesign GPU performance, and use it for raster more faster previews, effects like shadows and exports?
Indesign 15.1.1 , running on Mojave 10.14.6
