Anchored Objects should be able to be sent to back so text can print above the object
It would be nice if text could print above an anchored object

Thank you all for the votes.
Can you help us understand the key problems that you face in the absence of ability to send an anchored image backwards?
What’s the current workaround that you have to follow?
What are the use cases wherein you need that the text appears specifically on top of inline anchored image?
This information will help us evaluate the functionality better.

Another example. Right now I'm designing a book with hundreds of underlying elements. I cannot anchor them, because they will cover the text. So, any modification in the text is producing a shift and I have to redo all the work.

@Abinav Kaushik:
Sometimes we insert boxes (filled with pictures, illustration or whatever) within the text. We want those boxes to flow with the text. For example, when we work on a longer text that gets certain text addition in the course of the text design, we want the box to follow its anchor through the pages.
So it is necessary that the pictures flow with the text so it can keep its position in the text, not on a certain page.
But when you insert a picture/a box anchored in text, the text always wraps around. There is no possibility to insert a Box in text that is printed over. To "send back" in our case here means that we want the text to ignore the box wrapping and to print over the box . (because there is an option in the text settings of the programm that says "text wrapping only affects boxes that appear above the text box" (Sorry, I do not know the correct translation). So, when you "send the box to the background", it means, the text can flow over the box. That would really be a useful implementation! -

I also agree with stephen, as anchored objects cannot be wraped, its a major problem when I work on a large book document, with lots and lots of photographs inserted in it.

When anchoring an object to a line in a text frame, and you need the text to wrap around the object, the line which you anchored the object to, does not wrap. (See screenshot_2.jpg)
Also, the anchored object cannot be put behind the text frame or any other object which is behind the text frame.

Yes x 1000! I had a client recently tell me that the font was wrong in one of my documents. It turns out that I had placed a PSD with a clipping path, as an anchored object. So all the text in the text frame was rasterized and looked bold. If I was able to have anchored objects in back, this wouldn't have been a problem.

It is a bit like hanging a swing on a branch before you plant the tree. It could mean that the whole page needs to be loaded before it can be drawn, like it used to be on the old RIPs. What you are asking for is that object stacking should be non sequential. It's a nice Idea from designer perspective but a big ask. :) I'm in if it can be done.

Description in Japanese:
I put a Japanese comments above for Japanese users. Many users have been longing this improvement.
When “sent front/back option” is able to select for Anchored Objects, every InDesign users will be happy all over the world! -

Please fix the word wrap for anchored items that must be placed near their text. Also, the alt text for anchored items , when exported to pdf, are reading at the end of the column or page. This is unacceptable for math and engineering.

Please fix this! In STEM pubs we need to be able to place objects in precise spots and have the alt text reflect that. We also need to be able to wrap text and send anchored items to the back. Inline placement, whether above the baseline or not, does not fit the bill.

Hi together,
there are three types of anchored objects:
Inline anchored, above line anchored and anchored. With Above Line Anchored objects text can be above the anchored object. See my screenshot uploaded to Dropbox:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/248t4ihodgx7l4f/AboveLineAnchoredImage-TextOnTop.PNG?dl=0
Of course it would be great if one could do that with the other two types of anchored object as well!
So you have my vote!Regards,
