1. Add ability to export BOOK files (INDB) as IDMLs (or similar)

   I have a customer who wanted me to export a book for them for translation, but wanted ALL IDML files. We create larger books using InDesign, which will export documents (via package) as IDMLs, but not books (INDB). I'm not really sure what the problem is on the other end, re-assembling this book using the INDB and IDMLs, but the customer insists on needing an IDML for the BOOK. Nothing in forums says this can be done, direct contact with Adobe support says it can't be done, so we are at an impass. Support person suggested entering a request, so here it is. If you have other information or ideas, I would appreciate feedback and education on how to make this work; otherwise, a new feature might be needed.

2. Being able to change Topic Levels in indices after they have been added to the index

   After a topic has been added to the index, it’s no longer possible to e.g. move the current topic to Topic Level 2 and add a new Topic Level 1. Would be amazing if it was.

6. index

   Right now the cross-referenc markers in the index cannot be modified. They are set to e.g. see or see also. They cannot be switched easily to another language. So everytime a document is translated those cross-reference markers need to be translated manually in the document (find & replace) which means that everytime the Index is updated or the document is translated again the markers again have to be translated.

7. Give us the option to ignore certain instances of spelling & grammar errors, just like Adobe Illustrator.

   Just like Adobe Illustrator, please add optional checkboxes to either include/exclude things like "repeated words" or "uncapitalized start of sentence" instances. Also... Illustrator has a section of the dialog box where you can optionally ignore (1) uppercase words, (2) roman numerals, and (3) words with numbers. This would be a great feature to implement within InDesign as well, especially since InDesign is the go-to program for layouts.

8. Start supporting "Working off Network Drives/shares"

   Users are expected to download files to their local HDD and then work the project locally before committing it to a server/file share. this is ridiculous to ask. some of these files are huge and would consume the HDD space on the MAC/PC, let alone the network traffic and congestion they would create saving back and forth. Adobe needs to fix this issue so that users can work on a file and save to network share for other designers to work. InDesign and all products from adobe have this behavior. locking for sometimes days before someone is able to open and work on the file. it does not matter the size of the file or the Adobe file type that it is saved in. permissions based errors like this need to be worked on to allow better flow for end users trying to get projects finished quicker.

9. Running header should pick up automatically numbring

   TOC function picks up the automatic number from paragraph styles.

13. Please make pinch to zoom work on Surfacebook Windows 10.

    Pinch to zoom simply doesn't work on any adobe apps on when using a Surfacebook. It can work in Photoshop if you turn off two finger scrolling, but that's it. It's incredible annoying, and as someone coming from a Mac, it's killing my workflow. Please fix this.

14. Text wrapping around image should honor Corner Options

    There are two issues - a feature request and what I think is actually a bug (related to the workaround for the lacking feature).

    The primary question I asked in the forum feels like a bug to me, but I'm told it should be considered a feature request. So I request that in terms of text wrap, graphics frames generated by placing an image would behave the same as graphics frames created by the frame tool. If an image is placed and then Corner Options are applied, text wrap set to Graphics Frame should respond to the corners instead of staying square.

    The bug relates to the workaround suggested on that forum thread. When a graphic (not its frame) is copied and "Paste Into" another frame, text wrap settings of the original frame should not be carried along with the graphic content, because it's not the frame that is being copied, but just the content. That seems like a definite bug to me.

15. Export of selection of pages could be easier...

    It would be great to just select pages in the pages-window and then automatically have them selected with their page numbers in the export-toolbox.

    Help us avoid glitches with voice to text directly in InCopy. Yes, we can type into InCopy, but for long documents and articles, all the better with voice to text, to save time, and effort from all the typing. We could read citations right in; read documents in, not have to convert them to Word for Place. Let's get free from Apple/Word conversions and cut/&/pastes, thus the resulting glitches. Wouldn't this doable feature (Apple offers Dictation for free with its package) make Adobe's publishing output even easier and faster to use, and more glitch free from Word? And save us all from carpal tunnel in our old age? Can you see it? Starting your dictation, "When in the course of human events..."

17. Adding Ordinal Format Options to Text Variables

    I'm using Text Variables to show when the last time a document was modified. Currently, it outputs as "December 30, 2020", however, I would like it to be formatted with an ordinal option so it would display as "December 30th, 2020". Note the "TH" after the 30. So Xst, Xnd, Xrd and Xth would be displayed on the appropriate number.

20. text. direction. button. Give it back.

    I have InDesign CC, I think it's multilingual, and now I have to do a layout entirely in Arabic. After a whole day of trying to work out how to do it I realized that the reason it was so difficult to change text direction from LTR to RTL is BECAUSE THERE IS NO MORE BUTTON (I used to accidentally activate it on my old photoshop, that is why I remember there being one)

    ANYWAY
    two days in and I still can't find the direction option ANYWHERE and at this point I'm royally ****** because I'm either too dumb to find the thing or the thing is gone and I'm unable to do my job. I've searched everywhere, gone to every website, checked every single tutorial and wherever they show the option I DON'T HAVE IT THERE. OR ANYWHERE.

    This really sucks and I don't get why would Adobe EVER remove something as useful as that. Granted I don't need it every single day BUT WHEN I DO MY SALARY DEPENDS ON IT.

    I hope you reconsider the decision to remove the button.
