Pantone libraries for color bridge CMYK formulas do not match the published Pantone formulas.
InDesign team advised Adobe has their own conversion. That's unacceptable. Designers need the confidence that the color libraries are in fact what they are called in CS. Any time a project goes to press and does not meet expectations, a printer can simply say - those colors are not the correct pantones and leave the designer holding the bag. Yes we can manually enter the correct values. But, unless designers experience a project go wrong, they're probably trusting Adobe libraries to be what they're called in CS. Adobe needs to update the libraries, or delete them, or simply call them…

Share Illustrator Gradients with Indesign via CC Libraries
According to many sources online, in the old days, you were able to copy and paste gradients from Illustrator to InDesign. Now, when I copy an simple object with a complex gradient, it comes into InDesign split into many tiny objects, each with its own swatch. Totally unworkable.
Really, I should be able to save a gradient swatch to CC Library so that I can access it across Creative Cloud. Because that's what Library is for, right?
I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature that should be there.
5 votesYou can add the object having the gradient swatch to the CC Libraries as a ‘Graphic’ in Illustrator. Then you can choose Place Linked/Place Copy in CC Libraries to use that object in InDesign. At this time, it is yet not possible to add Gradient/Pattern swatches to CC Libraries in Illustrator, so you have to add the object to the CCLib and then place that object in other apps like InDesign.

Remove color group folder when all swatches in it are selected by "Select all unused"
If all swatches are selected in a group folder by using the "Select all unused" option, also remove the group folder. This will make the workflow for cleaning up the swatches faster by only taking one action instead of also having to remove an empty group folder.

Enable color palette folders to move from the bottom of the swatches list
I want to be able to move the palette folder I'm working from to the top of the swatches list. If I have a document that has several colors, I have to scroll to the bottom to find the folder with my template colors.

Swatch-panner [mark] if colors are added with ink management
If the colors are edited with [ink management]
than it would be helpful if you can see it in the swatch-panel
(Like the FullColor-marking behind the swatch)and

Out of gamut warning/highlighting
It would be nice if, like other Adobe software, InDesign offered an out-of-gamut warning/highlighting option on screen when viewing documents with Proof Colors. It could even be an option in the proof colors setup dialog.
In practice, corrections to out-of-gamut colors of placed (typically RGB) images does not take place in InDesign. I realize that. But since InDesign may be the point of conversion to CMYK for print-ready PDFs, it could be useful to have a sense of where there might be problem areas in placed images, graphics, etc.
In some sense, InDesign is last line of defense, and offering…

Allow library swatches to be added to swatch palette
How is it that you can't tell the library to move one or all of your colors in a library into your swatch palette? This should be a standard feature.

Ability to change Default to None when deleting a Swatch
When deleting a swatch, it would be helpful if there was a way to change the default 'Replace with' Swatch of Black to be None/another color so one could option-click the trash icon instead of having to select None from the drop-down each time (or make None a merge-able 'swatch').
We get a lot of files where there are multiple swatches that aren't in use but don't get removed with 'delete all unused.' I don't think I've ever encountered a situation where I wanted to replace with Black anyway.
If there's a way to do that already, please let me…

Book synchronize feature does not synchronize color groups
Color groups are not synchronized via the book feature. I'm happy that the colors inside the group are not lost but placed "normal" on the first level of the color panel.
But to have all book files with the same order even at the color panel would be great. So please make synchronizing work correctly even at this tiny thing.
Thanks to Heike Burch for discovering this issue.

All those missing Pantone Colours
Has anyone else out there found themselves wondering why Adobe products don't have the very latest Pantone swatches installed as standard? I have a situation today where a customer has found a specific Pantone colour they want to use in a project - but it's a Pantone Plus colour, PMS 2374. If you try to add this swatch in InDesign it won't be there.
It seems that the only way I can use this PMS colour is to buy a bit of software from Pantone called 'Pantone Color Manager' that costs £90.
I just find myself thinking that I already…

Properties Panel Appearance Section
In the classic "swatches panel" with the "direct selection tool" selected, you can quickly select a text box and change the color of the text within without needing to switch to the text tool. You just select the box and click the "T" within the swatches panel.
You can not do this with the properties panel. You have to do the extra steps of switching tools to the text and manually selecting the text. Why can't this feature be available as a part of the "appearance" section of the "properties panel" under the "fill" options.

The color Picker is in RGB instead of CMYK
Every inDesign (my version Adobe inDesign CC 2020 15.0.2)
To open the color picker, go to the toolbar on the left of the screen and double-click on the colored square.
It would be nice if the color picker is the same in inDesign as the one in Illustrator and Photoshop. The color picker opens in RGB while we are on a document in CMYK.
We are graphic designers and we use this software because it is designed for printing professionals. The printer works in CMYK so why have a color picker with an RGB color space?Or have the possibility…

Automatic detection of colors with values in all CMYK plates
Background:
For DTP, the color mode must be CMYK. Therefore, RGB black (#000000) is converted to CMYK. This CMYK black color has a value in all CMYK plates. We fix this to K100.Request:
A function that automatically detects colors with values in all CMYK plates. It is best added to the preflight profile. It will greatly help the user.Japanese:

Add an x to close out a color theme box easily like other panels
Make it easier to close out the color theme box after using the color theme eye dropper tool. Currently, you have to reselect the color theme tool in the toolbar and press esc, which is not at all obvious, simple, or easy to remember.

Delete swatch / replace swatch
Please display the swatch that will be deleted on the 'Delete Swatch' dialog box to prevent replacing or deleting the wrong swatch (which is too easily done at the moment).
Thanks

swatches, color, and gradient panels like illustrator
Illustrator has the easiest to use and most powerful swatches, color, and gradient panels. Indesign would be a much better experience if it just used them. Just make them exactly the same.
