  1. Only swatches used in object, paragraph, or character styles would be synchronized.

If I don't want to synchronize swatches and object styles, but just paragraph styles.
The problem is that when I synchronize paragraph styles, all swatches are synchronized, even colors that are only used in object styles, and unnecessary swatches are added even if I deselect the swatches and and object styles in the Synchronize Options dialog.

Ideally, only swatches used in object, paragraph, or character styles would be synchronized when synchronizing any of those styles.

I would like to avoid adding unnecessary swatches to the document that are not related to synchronizing any of those styles.
    Also, I would like…

  2. make option to deactivate swatch sync when synchronizing paragraph/character styles

    In InDesign 19.5.:
"Swatches synchronize when object, paragraph, or character styles are selected in the Synchronize Options dialog."

However, working with a book document with different color shemes in each chapter, this is a huge inconvinience for me.
I want to be able to sync my settings without syncing the colors, as they are deliberatly different in each chapter.
This change would cause the need to make a character/paragraph/object style for each chapter, causing the number of styles to be hard to manage.
Otherwise, I would have to change the colors after every sync or won't be able to use…

  4. Add Color Guide panel as in Illustrator

Illustrator has the most broad, useful and handy tools to work with color! Add all these to InDesign so we could work with color inside one application with no need to go to Illustrator for choosing shades! Please!

  5. Set Solidity of Spot colors

We have HP Indigo's that can print white ink. For example, printing white ink on a golden paper, it looks great, and if you have a picture, just slab some white ink below it and it looks good.

However in InDesign, if you set the colors accordingly (Paper color to gold, and add a white spot color), and you enable overprint preview, the white ink just disappears. This means, we're desining with paper set to white and white ink set to Cyan to see what we're doing. Tbh we'd like to see what we'll eventually get.

    We need the ability…

  6. More swatches in the program by default

Include more color swatches that are always in the program by default, so you don't have to download and then import swatches to get basic things like shades of grey... Just provide all the color options available in illustrator.

  8. White spot

not only in indesign, but in the entire Adobe suite, I require that it be possible to have a white spot color. This means being able to assign a white color that also allows the overprint definition. At the moment only the competition allows it.

  9. Add Eyedropper function to swatch options

Add eyedropper functionality to Swatch Options so that I can quickly sample a colour from anywhere on my screen to change an existing colour (similar to photoshop colour picker).

I am in the process of updating a calendar which has numerous elements coloured by month name on each page - the client has given me an image of 12 swatches to change each month colour and an eyedropper would make this much easier...

  10. Option for Overprint to apply to black text only (not graphics) by default

It would be great to have two options in Preferences for how overprint behaves.
Appearance of Black Objects: Overprint Swatch at 100% (tick or untick)
Appearance of Black Text: Overprint Swatch at 100% (tick or untick)

I spend a ton of time correcting black on graphics before printing files and it can be quite fiddly at times with illustrations. This would save so much time + printing errors when I miss stuff!

  11. Gradients saved in Library

Is there a way that gradients can be added to the Adobe Library, like how we can add gradients to colors/swatches? I spend a lot of time making gradients in InDesign that are part of branding for the clients I work with. Being able to save the custom gradients to the Library through InDesign to be used in other Adobe programs would be a huge help.

  13. Color Pallet: add a Shade slider (percent of black mixed) for selected swatch (just like tint slider but with black)

In the color Pallet please add a Shade slider which adds a percentage of black to the selected swatch. It would act just like tint slider, which adds a percentage of white to the color swatch, except the Shade slide controller would add black.

This would also need a new type of Shade swatch perhaps.

  14. Same Gradient-Tool as in Premiere Pro?

In generell - why not make all tools more consitent? Gradients in InDesign are still way behind Illustrator, while both lack the elegant, intuitive rubber band of Premiere Pro's gradients. I think, everyone would love the Premiere Pro-version in InDesign (and Illustrator, too, because it doesn't feel that fluid there!).

  16. Please make it possible to bulk edit colors in a merged document.

I often need to make a global color changes like you can in Illustrator. After spending an hour manually editing the spacing for each entry (some cursive fonts have funky spacing), it's maddening that I can't then change the color in the merged file when the color is coming out wrong in print. Please help!

  17. Please add back Pantone colors. We are paying for it through subscription!

We, (Us designers and print brokers), all pay for a monthly subscription to the creative suite. Its a shame that Adobe cannot come to some sort of agreement to use the STANDARD of color based over the decades. Maybe if Adobe carried a basic set and then, if users wanted the entire pantone library, they could have it as a separate subscription add on. Just Saying.

  18. Load Swatches - Add an option to overwrite existing same name swatches

Load Swatches - Add an option to overwrite existing same name swatches, rather than simply renaming the incoming ones. Or an option to rename the existing swatches instead. It amounts to the same thing and would have saved a bit of time on a job I just did.

Why is this text field so small?

  19. Option to select pre-loaded colour palette .ase file at new document stage

At the new document phase of indesign, would be great to have a feature where you can drop in pre saved colour palettes, which you can then select based on document / brand and they then load with the new document.

  20. Gradient Angle should be saved in Swatches

Colour gradients can only be saved linearly without angles.
It would be nice if the angle could also be saved in the colour gradient, especially for texts and lines.
