Form styles control within object styles
hi,
I am referring to been able to edit and adjust all of the setting you have available via the form pane for buttons, check boxes, radio, combo and so on via an object style. at least i think it should be under object styles. You should be able to control all of the forms options as a style so you don't have to select each one individually when the client has changes. for us doing elearning from indesign this is a must have when creating many text fields, combo boxes, check boxes and so on

Allow multiple character styles to be applied to characters
Allow multiple character styles to be applied to one character.
There should be an »appearance« panel as in Illustrator, which reflects the hierarchy of multiple applied character styles to one character/a text. This would ease the work with XML and reduce the number of character styles needed. Nowadays you have to trick with GREP styles etc. to apply multiple character styles to one character.
With such a feature, I could define »italic« and »bold« and has no need to define »bold italic«. This will even end up in better HTML export: instead of <span class="BoldItalic">blabl</span> there could be the much…459 votesThanks for the suggestion. We have started to explore this feature. Will share more details soon

Make it possible to add ad Swatch from within the Style editing panels
When editing a style and realising that a certain Swatch is not made yet, is a bit frustrating, since Swatches can not be added on the fly.
Why not make it possbile to edit a color and add a Swatch in the style editing panel? Or let have styles their own colors without the need of a Swatch.1 vote -
Stroke & Corner Options independent of each other
We create instruction sheets for setting up/updating retail displays. We use bolder and various colored strokes (object styles) to indicate which items are new to/changing location on/exiting a fixture. If none of these apply, a default (thinner/black) stroke is used. Sometimes the strokes have rounded corners or custom shapes ...and we need to use the stroke option to force the very thick stroke to align outside or it covers up the art within.
With each new update, we start by setting all strokes back to the default (gloabal find/change) and then change individual strokes as needed. But because Stroke &…

Full Font features from within Style Sheets.
When making a paragraph style or charachter style. The font family opitions are limited as compared to the new font options available from the main screen, it would be great if the full feature set could be incorporated at least show is the font we are choosing not just the name. Thanks.

STYLE support for run-in (aka in-line) headings
Currently there is no Style setting that can produce a run-in heading. This is a very widely used style in documents using more than 2-3 heading levels, and I have needed it for years now.
NOTE: Using Nested Styles does not fulfill the need for run-in headings. Using a nested style is a work-around based on character styles, and this technique does not allow a heading to be "promoted" or redesigned!
A quick solution:
Create a new Style setting checkbox to be used by the run-in heading style: "Run-in". When checked, the paragraph is given 0 leading, and its total…

Shading for character styles
I love using the shading for whole paragraph styles, but it would be nice to have shading for character styles as well. This would be nice for "highlighter" effects, which you just want to highlight a few lines or words. Just like applying an underline or strikethrough, but with a little more control over color, padding, maybe even shape?

Object Styles: Size and Position relative to spine
When setting an object's position with this feature, one must choose left or right for X position. With Anchored Objects, we can choose for that to be "relative to spine" instead. So instead of "left" or "right", we can choose "inside" or "outside".
This would allow for symmetry on a spread. Example: an object could then extend from the spine, beyond the page edge, through the bleed, whether on a left or right page.60 votes -
Paragraph Border Controls when Split across Columns or Frames
There needs to be a control that "If paragraph breaks between columns or frames" restricts the paragraph border to: "baseline" , "cap-height" and perhaps a value offset for this. At the very least there needs to be the "clip to frame" option for paragraph border like there is for paragraph shading. However, the controls for baseline and cap-height would be ideal.

Style hierarchy
It would be nice if you could easily see as one of the views of styles (paragraph, character, and object) a hierarchy of which styles are based on each other. Like a cascade of styles. I work on long documents and books that use LOTS of styles and besides the normal view and alphabetical view, it would be nice to be able to "sort" by hierarchy, perhaps with the swivel arrow, like when you have different styles in grouped folders. For instance, we have "text" and then "text left" and "text centered," and so on, but they are all based…

Edit multiple paragraph styles at the same time
When we have changes in layouts or designs it is a pain to edit all the paragraph styles individually. Please make it possible to edit them all at once.
Example: 10 paragraph styles in one doc all with the same font. Customer wants to change the font.

Please make it possible that we can have a number is paragraphs of text that link to the actual page number that is being referenced.
Please make it possible that we can have a number in paragraphs of text that link to the actual page number that is being referenced. So if the page number is changed, then the numbers in the paragraph should also reflect the changes.

Filter & Labels in (Object/Character/Paragraph) Style Panels
As in Photoshop's and InDesign's Layer Panel it would be very helpfull to have the option for colored Labels/Flags.
Also, like in Photoshop, a filter/search option on top of the Style Panels would help organizing complex files (newspaper/magazine templates) and speeding up the process.1 vote -
Type and select style from drop down list
Need to type and select the style from the drop down list. Currently we need to find and select the style using mouse scrolling. It will take time when we have lots of paragraph, character styles in InDesign document. Do this for all the drop down list available in InDesign palette. For example, we need to delete a style and replace with another style.

New "Justification Auto-Correct" Feature
Justification, while pleasing to the eye from the perspective of an entire page, creates problems. Hyphenation can correct this, to some degree, but it too has its problems. In the end, when justifying text, certain lines of text end up being scrunched while many others leave wide open spaces between words.
In doing my best to correct for these problems, I tend to make most use of the horizontal scale feature. I often find that most of these visual blemishes (scrunching or overly-wide word spacing) can be corrected by either reducing the horizontal scale down to about 97% (in the…
