Add "First Paragraph Options" within Paragraph Styles
Feature Request:
Introduce a new section within Paragraph Style Options called "First Paragraph Options" (similar to how "Drop Caps and Nested Styles" works). This would allow users to define specific formatting rules that apply only to the very first paragraph in a consecutive sequence of paragraphs sharing the exact same style.The Problem:

j'aimerai bien pouvoir copier les effets (FX) dans indesign, comme sur photoshop pour pouvoir appliquer un même effet à d'autres blocs texte ou image. l'utilisation de la pipette nécessite d' avoir à changer sans arrêt les options de celle-ci, ce n'est pas franchement pratique. De plus un document comportant plusieurs pages ils vous faut retrouver la page ou l'effet est appliqué pour l'appliqué sur une autre. Alors que si l'effet était comme dans photoshop on pourrait facilement le copier coller

Paragraph Rules/Underline Skip Ink
Can Paragraph Rules/Underlines be updated to have a 'skip ink' feature, similar to how figma works.
For example, if I wanted to add a rule/underline below the word "example", I could choose for the line to go through the letter p or to skip any descenders adding in a gap to the line.

Make it possible to Redefine the current selected text to any existing Style
In many cases a restyled text should not redifine the current style, but another (unused/old style) E.g. when creating a subheading from the Plain text style. If there was a Style called 'Subheading' already, it would be nice to let the selected modified plain text directly redifine that 'Subheading' style, in stead of creating a new one, find out the Subheading already exists, delete it etc.

Create an option to for non-sticky paragraph and character styles
Paragraph and Character styles are great, but for new users or in environments where files frequently change hands, they can be hard to teach and manage due to them being 'sticky'. If you select a character style with no text selected, it stays selected and will then be applied to all future text, same for paragraph styles. For experts, this is a feature; for new users it is a bug. The layer panel has "ungroup remembers layers" which is a very obscure setting, could the styles panels please have "Styles are not sticky" added as an option to the fly…

Allow Paragraph Borders and Shading to Inherit Text Color, Just Like Paragraph Rules
InDesign already allows Paragraph Rules to use Text Color as their color source. I would like the same option to be available for Paragraph Borders and Paragraph Shading.
At the moment, Paragraph Borders and Shading can only use a fixed swatch. This creates unnecessary manual work whenever the text color of individual paragraphs needs to vary while the same paragraph style is retained.
For example, I am currently working on a publication in which many subheadings share the same typography, spacing, and border treatment, but the client wants different colors for different subheadings.

Object Style default option for the Rectangle Frame Tool (F) other than [None]
Hello and thank you for the opportunity to offer feedback! I have always used the Rectangle Frame Tool (F), primarily for images but also for text. I am trying to streamline options and defaults in InDesign as my work is now required to make all digital reports and other documents with accessibility requirements for screen readers. Ability to specify a baseline start in a Paragraph style
Would like to use a Paragraph style to be able to set the first line of a paragraph to a specific baseline. For example, on a page like this the first paragraph also needs to start on the same baseline, but there wouldn’t always be a byline, so I would need to make another, or multiple, Paragraph styles for the main head (“Foreword”) in order to sink the first paragraph to the same baseline.

Alternative to GREP: keywords
Grep styles are incredibly useful to use, and I use them very frequently. However, sometimes I would simply like to apply a style to a long list of keywords. To illustrate an example, I like to apply a style to game terms when writing for TTRPGs.
This is technically doable via Grep but quickly becomes unwieldy when the list of words is long. I would love some way to include a large list of words and automatically apply a character style to any word that appears in that list. Alternatively, a way to quickly copy all grep styles from one…

Make Paragraph Styles Apply Parent Pages and Section Starts
- Would like to have an option to apply a Parent page based on the Paragraph style. Similar to Mastermatic, but in the Paragraph style dialogue.
- Would like the option to have a Paragraph Style set a section start. As it is, if, for example, you set page 22 as a section start, but later need to delete pages 20 and 21, the page numbering now goes 16, 17, 18, 19, 22, 23, 24 etc. For this reason I don’t use section starts and thus don’t use the TOC function. Organize styles (any type: paragraph, character, objects, ...) like a PRO
How WONDERFULL would be to have the possibility of AUTOMATICALLY order styles. How? I wish InDesign would assign automatic cascading numbering to folders and the paragraph styles that it contains.
[I've attached an image example.]
The idea would be that each generated folder would have an automatic number (based on its order in the window): 01, 02, 03, ...; and the paragraph styles within that folder would have that same numbering: 01.00, 02.00, 03.00, ...

The ability to find/change Table, Cell styles and Object Styles
It would be great if we could find/replace specific Table styles, Cell styes and Object Styles. So basically have them available under the Find/Change options. This would be so useful for replacing Table and Cell styles in a large number of tables in a document. Now we have to manually select each table or cell/row/column to change them individually. It would save a lot of time if this could be more automated. Zie attached image for interface example.

Table Cell styles with row height. Also allow complex table styles by row and column.
Ever since I've started using table and cell styles, I've been surprised that it's so limited in what you can do with it not least being unable to set minimum row heights in tables. Many other requested features are missing including alternative row and column styles, minimum column width, etc. I'd just like to have more flexibility in how I use table styles.

INDT file in Book (as styles, variables, parentpage holder)
I want to offer the option to add .indt template documents to a book, with text and object styles and text variables distributed, but excluding pages.
Thus, template documents will be possible to use not only for creating new documents, but also for distributing established styles in a book and even to many books from just one file!
The existing method of importing styles from a regular document within a single book often leads to confusion of style options if the wrong document is selected.

Let AI create paragraph and character styles
How about designing a text by adding fonts, spacing, color, sizes etc. for headings, body text, photo credits, streamers, lists etc. and then ask AI to generate the styles for it and apply those throughout the rest of the document?

日本語版独自の「字取り」機能で設定できるのは「文字数」に限られているため、不便な場面が多いです。
文字数以外の設定はテキストフレーム/フレームグリッドに関わらずフレームグリッド設定に依存します。これを知らずに「字取り」を使いこなせていないユーザーも多いです。添付画像 1 に示したのは、私が不便だと感じたケースの全てです。そして（ ）の中には私の仕事での主な使い道です。

ストーリー内に配置された、文字サイズの異なる表（一般に表の文字サイズは本文より小さい場合が多い）私はこれらの問題を、アンカー付きオブジェクトを挿入、
あるいは「字取り」を用いずに、
ホワイトスペースを挿入、トラッキングで調節、文字前後のアキ設定
などで代用しています。
つまり、とても不便なのです。今回、代案を考えてみました。なかなかの時間をかけました。
皆さんの賛同が欲しいです。添付画像 2 は文字パネルのスクリーンショットです。
従来のグラフィカルなコントロールを廃止し、フライアウトメニューに格納することで、より詳細な設定を可能にすることを提案します。
これは「縦中横」や「割注」、あるいは「下線」や「打ち消し線」と同様に扱うこととします。添付画像 3 は設定ダイアログのアイディアです。
まず先頭に、他の機能と同じようなチェックボックス。
これで「字取り」をオン/オフします。
次に、ラジオボタンで
1 文字サイズ、字数、字間 の３要素で設定、
2 字取りの幅（縦組み時は高さ）をダイレクトに設定
を選択します。いかがでしょうか。
少しの難点は、下位バージョンのアプリと互換性が全くないことです。

This was a standout feature of the early Ventura Publisher, which used a structure-first approach—encouraging consistent use of styles over manual formatting. Add "Fit Frame to Content" option to Object Styles
Add an "Auto-Size Frame Options" section to Object Styles that would allow the frame to automatically adjust its dimensions to fit the placed content. This feature would be particularly valuable when importing images via XML files for automated catalog production. Thank you
