Multiple masters for pages
I design the labels for a company. They have a huge amount of products, and a lot of times the same product has a different label when the weight is different, or when the product is sold to a specific location.
It would be great to have the option to apply multiple masters per page. That way you can separate some repeating graphics that occur in certain situations. I would like to be able to have certain elements of the design be applied in certain labels, and I would like it to be with a master. So a label will…

Inserting multipage PDF into frames
I want to be able to insert multipage PDF file into Indesign in easier way, something like: create a frame, set settings, on the first page and then I want Indesign to create exact amount of pages as in PDF file and insert it automatically to box on each page with the same settings as the box on the first page. Thank you.

Windows within Pages Panel
When working on a long document, you may need to refer back to an earlier page for information or formatting consistency. An easy way to do this would be to allow for the Pages Panel to be subdivided into windows or views of the overall docuement. That way when you are at page 120 and need to look at 80, you could simply get 80 in one window and 120 and its adjacent pages in the other. You would then be able to toggle back and forth without having to scroll all the way up and down through the whole…

Endnotes used to be simpler
The new endnote feature is a disaster. Please allow discrete numbering for each chapter. I can't seem to be able to restart each chapter at superscipt 1. I am creating a 400-page book that has to be in sections for editing purposes. Not only am I renumbering superscripts and then endnotes for each chapter, but who knows what will happen when I assemble the whole thing with endnotes at the end. Preliminary testing with a few chapters is somewhat comforting, but I remain sceptical.

make styles palette at book level (as well as variables, master pages and other shared book elements)
then, there could be a switch button in paragraph styles palette for documents (as well as other palettes) that makes all styles "inherited" from book "superpalette".
I mean, that I would make ONE set of styles which will be instantly propagated into all book documents, (which have this switch in "on" state).
I know it can be done with book "synchronize" button, but it is not working, when you change styles name in one document. Synchronizing just add this style as a new to synchronized documents, instead of changing its names everywhere.
And, last but not least, there will be…

Please add a way within a book file to update all document's tables-of-contents.
Please add a way within a book file to update all document's tables-of-contents.
Right now, when I make a change to one document that changes page numbering, I must manually go update the TOC of every document in the book individually. This feature could easily be added to the same "Update Numbering" command within a book document.

Add global level or book level text variables.
It would be nice to have book level text variable(s) that is used in documents in that book.

Master Page Specify Following Pages
When setting up a long document, there are often opening spreads and then different pages that follow, based on specific master pages. It would be useful to be able to define the master pages so that whenever Master Page A falls, B will follow, defined automatically. Much like paragraph style sheets, where one style always follows the others, you could set it up so that when you define a page with A, then B, C, etc. will be automatically set up.

Index Alphabetising Systems
I'm currently producing a book every Bob Dylan song in it for his publisher. It's a huge project and I'm indexing. I've noticed something very odd with InDesign's indexing system, which is that it's only possible to alphabetise letter-by-letter, so if these were song titles, I'd get this (in this order):
I Dream
I'm Asking
I'm Falling
I WinOf course, what I want is word-by-word indexing, which would give me the (correct) following:
I Dream
I Win
I'm Asking
I'm FallingI know I can tweak these entries manually, and I have done but it's laborious and risky. I…

Edit all Export Tags for all INDDs of a book (INDB) in one place
In order to export a book to EPUB, I need all export tags (classes) to be perfectly consistent even if the styles they are assigned to aren’t (and deliberately so, which is why they can’t be simply synced via book sync).
Currently there seems to be no other way than to open “Edit all export tags” from the panel menu in every single INDD of the book (which of course is already a huge progress compared to opening every single paragraph and character style).
Please let us edit the export tags on book level for all INDDs of a book.…

Easier Conditional Text in Tables
Currently, to apply conditional text to text inside tables, you have to go cell-by-cell to apply the text. This behavior is unlike character and paragraph style application, where you can simply select a bunch of cells and apply the styles all at once. Conditional text application to cell contents should behave the same.

Remove guides, select similar objects on whole document
Need to remove guides and select (edit) similar objects, like container boxes, not only on a spread but on the whole document.

Book
I use indb files extensively. It opens short, large display and in middle of field. I make small panels, pull it below bottom file and move it. Why can’t we control its display like other panels ?

Long text authoring experience
InDesign is usually employed in post-production, after the auther had finished writing a book, a screenwriter his script. You could make inDesign the tool of choice for writers, thanks to its wonderful authoring experience. Enhanced long document editor. This opens the market for independent publishers and authors to make their creation end-to-end, from inception to finish

Option in TOC dialogue which merges the same instances into one followed by a page range number
I have a design guide with a complex table of contents (see toc1.png).
There are topics like “Head - und Subline Allgemein” (see toc1.pgn) which spans over 3 different pages. After generating the TOC the topic is listed 3 times followed by their associated page number (see toc1.pgn).
I would like to see a check box in the table of contents dialogue box which merges all the same instances into one followed by the page range number (see toc2.png)!
Perhaps with a control of what character separates the two page numbers.

set individual pages as non-numbered in books
I use the book feature for many, if not most of the documents that I create. Each individual InDesign document included within the book is a new chapter. Because the majority of my clients request printed copies of the documents I create, I usually create customized tab pages that precede each chapter, so that the end user can easily find a specific section. These tabs are printed on card stock instead of the standard bond paper that is used for the content of the document.
The majority of my documents require page numbers, and so I use the feature where…

Traditional Book Focus
I write long traditional books with hundreds of black and white text pages. Adobe's focus as a graphics company may be why it misses some important issues for people like me. Editing hundreds of pages of text and incorporating feedback is extremely difficult.
To accomplish this I have to get the full layout correct with many chapters all in individual files and then create a PDF version of the book. of course, when viewed two up the pages don' align properly if I don't insert a blank page as the first page using DC. Simple fix, give me a proofing…
