1. Content aware fitting should not apply to placed images in a document

   'Content aware fitting' conflicts with checkbox 'autofill'-preference in application-bar.
   I assumed content aware fitting would only apply on newly placed images.
   When I want to relink an earlier placed image with content aware fitting 'ON' the relinked image is auto fitted in a way I don't want.
   The mention check-box would be ideal to let InDesign know I don't want to fit contant aware after the initial placing of content.

   Here’s something you might not hear often. Thank you. This new uservoice setup for logging bugs and suggestions is awesome. So many great constructive ideas on here and you do a good job implementing the popular ones. Unlike other apps that seem totally oblivious to user feedback (looking at you, Acrobat!), indesign has been getting genuinely better with every recent update. It’s exciting to see new user-recommended features put in place. Please continue listening to popular feedback requests and avoid changing things just for the sake of change (looking at you again, Acrobat).

   PS Can you go over to whatever planet the Acrobat team is on and help them out, maybe give them a few pointers ;-) ?

3. Apply Multiple Master Pages per Page (Akin to Layers)

   Ideally, InDesign would treat master pages like layers. In this manner, a variable number of master pages could be applied to any page, allowing for more efficient and quicker customization of page layout. For example, a user might set up the following master pages:

   A-Body (1 Col.)
   B-Body (2 Col.)
   C-Body (Fig. or Table)
   D-Header (Full)
   E-Header (Partial)
   F-Footer (Full)
   G-Footer (Partial)

   In this example, the many possible combinations, such as AD, AF, ADF, AE, AG, AEG, BD, etc. (based on layout needs) wouldn't need to be created. More importantly, as in styles based on parent styles, changes would effectively "cascade" due to changes in one master page, rather than requiring changes in every master page that contained any given element.

4. Add Anti-Alias Intent to text for graphic export

   As web publishing has been an important part of InDesign since 5.5, it would be extremely helpful if anti-alias intent could be determined, either at a paragraph level or on output. Both Photoshop and Illustrator have this feature, and without it, export jpeg and png for web use is not up to publishing quality.

   Relatedly, when an image is placed in a document at a scale other than 100%, it would be helpful if the downsampling/upsampling intent could similarly be chosen by the user.

   Currently, the only way to produce publishable web materials from InDesign is to export a lossless PDF, open it in Photoshop at 300ppi, and then downsample to 72ppi. It would be much more convenient to export directly from InDesign, but the quality simply isn't up to it without these additional options.

5. Text Variables in Floating Window/Pod

   Text Variables needs a dockable window/panel/pod. Pull defining new variables out of the Text menu and put it in a panel that we can access without having to drill down through the UI.

   Having Text Variables available in a panel in this fashion would let us place the cursor, double-click to add a variable, move the cursor via arrows and double-click the next variable. We would also be able to click several variable in a row without having the laboriously drill down through the UI to get to the list. This is very frustrating when you have several dozen variables that need to be placed.

   Even making the Text Variable definition window non-modal would be an improvement, but seeing the list broken out into its own panel would be a huge improvement.

   Oh, and let variables break across lines. Duh, right?

6. apple mouse scrolling

   Scrolling with Apple Magic Mouse sends the document flying over numerous pages.

   While I appreciate that this issue has been a stand off between Apple & Adobe, us users simply can't switch out our mouse. This stand off is hostile to users, it's infantile and unprofessional. In design studios we use this application all day long, 90% of my work will eventually go through InDesign.

   As a minimum please provide the option to automatically disable scrolling when using Adobe InDesign, optimally just detect the mouse and change the scrolling behaviour to no longer be user hostile.

   Adobe has the opportunity here to show they care.

8. Creating a PDF with its actual file name

   When creating a PDF can the name of the file be exactly as the document working on, not adopting an old file name you've create the file from?

9. Improve Link Panel functionality

   It would be useful if we could right click an image in the Link panel and change the color mode from RGB to CMYK withough having to go into Photoshop before hand.

10. when using the GAP tool, allow to enter the space size.

    When i have a collage of many images and I want to have all the spacing between the images the same exact amount, entering a desired size will be a huge help.

11. Revision Lines

    A way to add revision lines when working with a document that needs to track changes when they undergo revisions. This is usually helpful with technical documents that are long and change over time with regulations, updates and the sort. Similar to the framemaker feature.

12. Estimated Output Size

    When saving a PDF output, it would be nice to choose your saving options (image quality, resolution) and get an estimated size. Like if you know you need something under 10MB, you could adjust your settings to match that without having to retry saving until you get the right size.

14. Allow default stroke alignment to be "Inside" even if default stroke is zero

    I want to set the default stroke weight to Zero and the alignment to Inside. You can't do this. If you set default weight to Zero the default alignment setting is grayed out. So every time I have to add a stroke to a box I have to change the stroke alignment or it increases the size of the box. (If the default stroke weight is anything other than zero you CAN set the default alignment. Setting the alignment and then changing the stroke back to zero doesn't work. The default of Center returns.)

15. Allow document to be editable while using "FIND FONT"

    Add the ability to edit and interact with the underlying document while the FIND FONT window is open (just like we can do while the regular FIND/CHANGE window is open)

    When FIND FONT is open, the ONLY thing we can do is locate/substitute fonts. We aren't able to interact with the document in any other way. Often while using FIND FONT to locate where missing fonts are used, we find that the issue is actually just some text that we forgot to style properly, or a rogue invisible character that should simply be deleted. But in order to accomplish any simple edits like this, we have to close the FIND FONT window, make the text edit, and then reopen the FIND FONT to continue looking for other issues. This gets very tedious on long documents.

    Bring back ExtendScipt Toolkit for High Sierra and InDesign CC 2018. The older version of ExtendScript works but the newer does not work. What is the reason for discontinuing ExtendScripts Toolkit? I have 12 designers with a subscription for each one of them and 6 of those designers rely on ExtendScript Toolkit for one of their workflows.

17. Add Endnote Support for InCopy

    Please add endnote support for Adobe InCopy. Without it, InCopy sadly is pretty much useless.
    InDesign Footnotes are too inflexible and working with manual Footnotes is not really feasible in larger documents.

18. Why is the InDesign Bug Fix not part of the program download?

    Just downloaded the InDesign 2018 yesterday, but the bug fix is dated November 3.

    I understand the confusion and apologise for the same. Before we could get out the issues in a release we posted the workaround plugins for any users who were blocked due to the bugs.

    We have now send out an update to all InDesign users which has those bug fixes in them. Again sorry for the inconvenience.

19. CC Libraries, global changes

    It'd be great to be able to update Character and Paragraph Styles used in CC Libraries over multiple documents. Frankly, I was shocked to find out I wasn't able to do this.

20. Change the page size

    When changing the page size, the current page content is centered relative to the new size. Or it would be nice, if I could choose to attach current content to one of the corners of the page, the same way I can choose the transformation anchor point (the square with the nine anchor points)

    Thanks for this suggestion. I need a little more information in trying to understand this request a bit more:

    1. Is the situation that you have created a design already or have an existing design and now need to change the page size. Any description on why you need to change the page would be helpful.
    2. How drastic is the page size change. Is it just a minor change or is it something like changing from portrait mode to landscape.
    3. Please share links to any screenshot of the document where you recently needed this feature. This would help us better understand this request.
