An error occurred while saving the comment barbara commented100% Making footnote numbering easily accessible and part of the already available numbering panel would eliminate errors and be a huge time saver.
Some books I work on have have documents that are shared with multiple books, so automatic numbering, like page numbering, is needed.
Having the setting available at document AND book level is critical.
Some clients want numbering consecutive throughout the book; some want each chapter to start at 1. Often these chapters have had to broken into parts, so the ability to restart at a specified document within the book is needed.

An error occurred while saving the comment barbara commentedAdding a tab is causing a space as well. There should not be a space between these paragraphs. They are all the same style. Changed all spacing to 0, but problem persists. Changing to Adobe Paragraph Composer fixes.

Book panel is a special type of panel that is always associated with the .INDB file – unlike other panels where there is no actual association with a file on disk. The panel also shows the name of the Book file. If that INDB file is deleted, then the panel does not have any meaning.
Only when the Book file is opened is the Book panel available. So it can’t be part of a workspace & thus its size and location also can’t be fixed as there could be multiple Book files that can be opened simultaneously.—
