An error occurred while saving the comment LoneGirl commentedUgh, this has been here since 2017? This is absolutely something that should be a function. If a paragraph style is applied to text, it should follow the style no matter where the text goes. The workaround of adding columns, changing all of the rules around them, merge columns or cells, then break apart the copy is far less than ideal and adds another level for errors to occur!

An error occurred while saving the comment LoneGirl commentedYes! Multiple crashes and headaches later, I'm having to custom-add the same source number multiple times (which means I'll have to go and make the endnotes link back to the right numbers) and am also needing to add multiple endnote numbers in a row, separated by commas (i.e. 24, 25, 26, 27) and while I can keep inserting the endnotes in a row, I have to have a special character style set up and applied for each comma manually inserted in-between the additional numbers.

Still happening (InDesign 16.3.2, Big Sur 11.5.1). So glad I found the thread that lead me here. Never would've thought to undock, just to be able to name the Alternate Layouts.
You go to click on the text to rename it, the text area highlights blue/editable for the briefest of moments, then goes back to being locked. It happens so quickly that I can't even get a screenshot of it.
