We've just released InDesign 17.2.1 version which addresses this issue.

Please update to this latest version using Creative Cloud Desktop application.

In case the fix does not work immediately for you, please try the following:

    1) Quit InDesign.

    2) Delete the following:

    on Mac:

    /Users/[yourname]/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign

    /Users/[yourname]/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign

    on Win:

    C:\Users\[yourname]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign

    C:\Users\[yourname]\AppData\Local\Adobe\InDesign

Relaunch InDesign & see if it works properly now.

Seems a fix is under way with version 17.2.1:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/fixed-issues.html

    InDesign 2022 (version 17.2.1)

    Core feature and workflow

Unable to use some random fonts in InDesign.
Place gun is unloaded after first page of a multi-page PDF is placed in frame.

@Ayanna: version 17.2.1 is rolled out in a phased manner to different regions of the world.
I'm in Germany and hope that it will be available by the end of April 2022.

    Thanks,
    Uwe Laubender

Deborah Biggs said: "Reverting to Indesign version 17.01 fixed this issue for me. (Windows PC)"

    Hi Deborah,
fingers crossed, my issue with a not showing up font from a Document fonts folder was fixed by restarting my Windows 10 machine. Had this with InDesign 17.1.0.50 and the prerelease version 17.2.0.18. The same Document fonts folder worked for InDesign documents with versions 16.4 and below also installed on the same machine.

FWIW: Placing Illustrator files with multiple artboards are also affected by the bug.
Placing InDesign documents with multiple pages are NOT.

Here comes a crude work around:
Place the multi-page PDF on InDesign pages automatically using a script like this one:

    https://github.com/mike-edel/ID-MultiPageImporter/releases

    Save the InDesign document.
Place the InDesign document pages instead of the PDF pages.
That still is working with previously drawn out graphic frames.

Sorry, Sanyam, I think my last post was perhaps false alarm.
The missing elements in the case of user @eugenp8805642 are missing in the PDF.

My theory: Buttons in the original layout that will not show up with Adobe PDF (Print) export.

As far as I can see this bug is already there with InDesign CC 2019! It's really the time to fix this issue.
Workarounds are very time intensive and can only maintain the visual appearance of the text, because one needs to convert the text to outline paths.

    More details here:

Nevertheless, the two Japanese paragraph composers should be available when one likes to create a new paragraph style. So I voted…

    Hi Karis,
there are several ways to use both Japanese Paragraph Composers in a "western" InDesign like the English one or even my German one.

The easiest one is to apply it to selected text by a script written in ExtendScript (JavaScript). Both scripts work with InDesign CS6 version 8 and above.

Select some text and apply the Adobe Japanese Single-line Composer with this line of code:

    app.selection[0].texts[0].composer = "$ID/HL Single J";

Select some text and apply the Adobe Japanese Paragraph Composer with this line of code:

    app.selection[0].texts[0].composer = "$ID/HL Composer J";

When done create a new paragraph style from the selected text.
You'll see that one of the two Japanese Paragraph Composers are used with that style.
