P.S. I'm going to check out Affinity Publisher -- I have it installed already. If its UI is easier to see, I may try a few projects therein and see if I like it any better. If I do, then ....

I just traded my 28" monitor for a 43" monitor and I still have the same size interface as before. Sure, I could increase the size of the interface if I'm willing to not take advantage of the high resolution of my new monitor. But I bought this monitor for a reason, and in every other way, I'm extremely happy with it. It is only the lack of scalability in InDesign's user interface that causes me any grief at all. Since I'm not alone in this, I'm not going to blame the resolution on my monitor but would ask that InDesign developers please hear us on this issue and make the interface scalable. I am forever squinting at the little numbers in the control panel!!!

Having this problem, too. The first report of it I see appears to be on 5/1/19 but wasn't responded to until 10/4/19. Now it is February 2020, and still no fix? This is a major impediment to my business. I would have expected a quicker response on this basic InD function that so many people use.

The posts I see here are from Oct and Nov 2018; it's May 2019 now, and just this week, I've started having this same problem. Was it fixed? Has it been broken again? Or is it a delayed bug that just shows up sooner or later or just comes and goes? Is there a fix yet?

I can't believe it's been a year and no one else has commented on Ms. Van Steegh's posting about the need for this feature. I pull my hair out every time I have to set up complicated tab situations (e.g., multi-level TOCs with Figure numbers that have to be right-aligned when they get into double-digits, etc.). I HATE AND DOUBLE-HATE those tiny little slider arrows on the tab bar. As Ms. Van Steegh pointed out, they are "WAY too fussy" in that they are nearly impossible to select. I also very much dislike that the top arrow slides along with the bottom so that you have to drag it back. Yes, we can set some of these indents under paragraph indent settings. But it would be nice to do it all in one place when you're already there, PLUS Ms. Steegh is absolutely right that trying to set an actual tab -- which you can do no other place except the tab bar, as far as I know -- is annoying beyond belief! For years, I thought my problems with this palette/window was because I use such high resolution to accommodate my high-end monitors. But she's right, it never changes. And it SHOULD. New properties windows (CC 2019) are all well and good (though no one can use CC 2019 yet because it hangs so often), those are frills. We need improvements on actual PROBLEMS.
As for this one, couldn't you at least make the tab bar big enough to see and allow the arrows to move independelty (and make THEM bigger also)? Everything is just too hard to grab, control, and maintain.

Hi All,
This indeed a great suggestion. I wanted to understand a little more about this request.
1. The way this request is described its majorly about figuring out how to change the various text attributes in a single step rather than having to change multiple styles to make that happen. It would helpful if you can mention which all attributes you all would want to be dependent on the baseline (space before/after, size, leading any other).
2. Which kind of documents (magazines, brochures, books etc.) do you see this to be more important for you.
3. Wouldn’t a similar method (not sure if we could base it on baseline though!!) for changing the layout also help, if you could define the sizes of objects in relation to the page size. Do you think extending this feature to the layout also makes sense.

A "baseline unit" measurement would, I think, really lend itself to book design, which is my main task with InDesign. I have set up several book templates for various size and style books, but the projects the publisher sends me are varied, which means widely ranging margins and leading. I don't hold my breath that the publisher's author-client is never going to ask for "something else" once they see the sample layout. A function like this could save me from having to refigure all my measurements when an author wants a "more open look," or something of that sort. Great idea. :)

I have the same problem, and no, restarting has made no difference. I've restarted several times now.
