In the Table of Contents panel, make the 'Include Book Documents' option persistent and part of the style
>>>I am writing a book, with 18 chapters, each as a separate InDesign document, but all collected in a single Book.indb.
>>I just now returned to writing the book after a several months break. Wanting to update my structure, I did Layout > Table of Contents and clicked 'OK'. My Table of Contents disappeared!
>>After investigating, I realized that the 'Include Book Documents' option in that panel had become unchecked.
>>I checked that option, ran Table of Contents again, and found all my table of contents entries generated successfully. Yay!
>>HOWEVER, when I went to regenerate the Table of Contents, all my table of contents entries disappeared again! Examining that panel again showed that InDesign mysteriously unchecked that option, even though all my other options in that panel were unchange.
>>Please change that panel operation to remember the selection of the 'Include Book Documents' option.
>>Furthermore, I'd like that option to be included in the table of contents style, so that other tables of contents generated from that style have that option checked.

copy/paste of URL loses character style
>>>ID 15.0.2; Mac OS 10.14.6
>- >
- >
>copy a passage containing a URL formatted with a character style
> >
- >
>paste the passage
> >
>expect char. style to be retained
>>actual: char.. style is eliminated; reverts to [None]
>>This happens when char. style is named 'Hyperlink' or when a char. style with another name is used.
>>Related issue: 'New Hyperlink from URL' always creates and applies default char. style Hyperlink unless I name my char. style for URLs 'Hyperlink'; 'hyperlink', for example, will not be applied.

Please can you share a sample file and a video showing the problem? Thanks

Text-fields behave strange after InDesign 2020 update
>>>Since the release of InDesign 2020 there frequently appears a circumstantial bug, that is not reasonable in any way:
>>When i double click (edit) or just copy any text-box, suddenly the content is moving downwards (about 3pt), so that it disappears in overflow text and has to be realigned. It even happens when I copy and paste those Elements or duplicate the whole page, so one of the most fundamental functions became futile (image "Adobe-Indesign-Bug-duplicate.jpg")!
>>Additional the maximum height of the box, before the text disappears in overset, isn't depending on the contents height like in older versions, but is expanded on the upper side instead (see image "Adobe-Indesign-Bug-copy-paste.jpg" in attachment)
>>Sometimes it even changes the whole stlye, color AND size!!!! ("Adobe-Indesign-Bug-copy-paste2.jpg").
>>I checked everything that may be possible - without results. It sitll appears after saving older documents in 2020 version...
>>Hence, every template i ever created is useless and time-consuming!
>
> ADOBE PLEASE DO SOMETHING, THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND ANNOYING!>Anybody experiencing similar problems? Thanks for reply.
>>Update: Bug doesn't appear on another PC with similar settings. But it still appears after uninstalling old version, reinstalling new version and even after deleting all folders and setups in adobe file path.... Still stumped for an answer...

CC library icons (svg files) not copying over correctly
>>>Version: inDesign 2020
>>When I drag, copy over, or place a linked icon (svg/eps) file from our corporate CC library, it only displays a white box.
>>I have asked a couple of coworkers to try the same thing and they don't have any issues.

Ligatures cause ADA compliance issues! Let's have a preference option to turn them all off, globally.
>>>Please, please add a global Preference in the Advanced Type window to TURN OFF ALL LIGATURES. These are problematic to ADA requirements. This would be just an additional global preference that we could set when we have no InDesign documents open, so that any new documents (after we turn off the ligatures in the preference area) would not have ligatures.

CC Libraries content icon with spinning wheel
>>>I have a 3GB CC Library full of adverts for a magazine. Whenever I drag a new advert over to the CC Libraries panel, it will add the new artwork, but then its icon will show a blank square with four spinning squares inside. This has occurred ever since ID v15. I'm currently using v15.0.2.

Footnotes appear directly under para unless 'Span fn across columns' is selected in text frame or footnote options
>>>Even when working on a single column layout, with no multiple columns in the document this happens. It means that without selecting the 'Span fn across columns' option the footnotes appear at various places in a page.
>>We should not have to select this option for a single column design.
>>It also seems to add extra spacing below the paragraph, even if the option is selected. As if the spacing is created for the fn, even though it now appears at the bottom of the text frame instead of after the para!

Indesgin sucks at exporting interactive PDF.
>>>Developers, answer me, please.
>
> I used InDesign to make e-books (interactive PDF).
> But every e-book was very heavy with 10 MB or more, even though I left the quality of the images at 72 or 96 DPI, and still using few images. It gets very heavy especially if you use dynamic links from Photoshop and Illustrator.
> I tried everything, but I couldn't solve this problem. Is there any way to resolve this?
> At Microsoft Publisher, Affinity Publisher and even Canva or Power Point it is much easier to have a light PDF with good quality images. I believe this is a defect in InDesign, the developers did not prioritize this part of exporting interactive PDF.
> There is also another problem, and this is even worse.
> The PDF made in InDesign when opened in Adobe Acrobat is always loading the images. As you zoom in or change the pages, images are always loaded.
> I need to make a light e-book, with good image quality, and that the images are not loading all the time, and in InDesign the images are not static as if it were really a page printed on the screen, and that gives a file impression heavy .. Can you understand me?
> I can only use InDesign again when I am able to resolve this, but I believe these problems are bugs.
> It is not possible that even something like Canva is much more attractive to create a PDF than software for professionals such as InDesign, please check this out.>>Developers, answer me, please.

[ CC-2019 and 2020 ] The Convert-Endnotes-To-Footnotes Disaster SCOPE: SELECTION with CONTEXT MENU
>>>Hi together,

> I'm using the context menu available for text selection to convert endnotes to footnotes by selecting text in the endnote text frame.>The result is not as expected. However it is better than using the dialog in menu Type for converting endnotes to footnotes with scope selection.
>>What is the issue?

> One endnote was converted but not removed.
> Two footnote text are missing the first character.
> One footnote text has a special character that should not be there.
> Style overrides were not transferred.
> Footnote references get style overrides of the character they are attached to.>All the important details, also screenshots together with a download link to my test files can be found at InDesign Prerelease or in the following thread at Adobe InDesign Forum:

InDesign "hangs" when exporting to InCopy:
