[ID-4199810]Cross reference takes more space than its text
A cross reference sometimes takes up more space than its actual text.
In the attached shows a frame with text with the right side of the text frame visible and the word "with" (above) extending well beyond the 2nd to last line in the frame. The "112" in the picture is a cross reference. When that cross reference is removed and "regular" text is typed in the 112 fits on the line.
Question first posted and confirmed by another here: https://forums.adobe.com/message/10908454#10908454.
This happens in CS6 and in CC2019, 14.0.1 x64.

Adjust Layout: add an option to ignore objects anchored in text or bring back legacy (2018) layout adjustment
I always made extensive use of the old layout adjustment feature in 'margins and columns', yet the new 'adjust layout' gives inconsistent and confusing results, resizing objects that never used to get changed.
It's gone from being very useful to a liability.
For me it was great for resizing the main text frame on multi-page (100s+ pages) books, but leaving the objects pasted into the text frame alone (figures, etc). Also moving page numbers aligned with margins, but not changing the sizes.
The new feature stretches and distorts carefully measured objects/figures, changes anchored object settings (at least, things move about…

My InDesign CC window will not minimise into the dock?
Hi,
Not sure where to go with this one but I have just upgraded to Adobe CC and noticed that I'm unable to 'Minimise' the window in InDesign and also noticed that it won't do it in Illustrator but Photoshop does minimise (ODD!)
All it will do is when you double click it fills to fit screen and then the opposite.
I have posted this onto the forum and others have mentioned that they are also experiencing this problem.
(I have turned on the 'Double -click a windows title bar to minimize' in the System Preferences)
Please could you help…

[ID-4261362] When using real endnotes in InDesign and exporting as a tagged PDF, the tag tree isn't created correctly.
When you use real endnotes in InDesign and export as a tagged PDF, the resulting tag tree is not generated properly.
This behavior can be reproduced for at least for InDesign 16, 17, 18.Result now:
<P>
--<Note>
----<Link>
------OBJR
--ALL CONTENTMinium correct result:
<Note>
--<P>
----<Link>
------OBJR
------Endnote number
----Endnote contentIn addition: The placement attribute for <Note> should be "Block".
This can only be fixed with a lot of work in the PDF.
Best, Klaas

[ID-4260994]The filter in the review panel is automatically changing to "resolved"
This happens very frequently.
I will be going through user comments given online in the Indesign Review tab. As I do them I resolve them. This works fine.
But then suddenly and randomly it will just decide to change my filter to show all resolved! Then all the old issues magically appear in the tab again until I go back to filter and unselect the Resolved button.
Then it happens again. And again. It happens only when I go to change something in the document but it doesn't seem to matter what type of issue i'm doing. Replacing text. Deleting,…

BUG (since CS6!): Nonbreaking Space (^S) Issue with World-Ready-Composer
Issue:
When using the ›World-Ready Composer‹, the character ›Nonbreaking Space‹ (^S) behaves exactly like the character ›Nonbreaking Space (Fixed Width)‹ (^s); i.e.: in justified paragraphs, its width does not adjust (like regular spaces do), but it is fixed and unchanging.
This only occurs with the ›Adobe World-Ready Composer‹ (both ›Paragraph‹ and ›Single-line‹) and not with the regular ›Adobe Composer‹ (neither ›Paragraph‹ nor ›Single-line‹).
It is not related to the font used, it has been tested with many different fonts.Versions with this bug, tested and confirmed by myself or colleagues:
InDesign (Standard Version) CS6, CC2015.0
InDesign (Middle Eastern Version) CC2020…

Drop shadow in exported PDF is a different size
Certain drop shadows have a different size when they appear in an exported PDF.
In the attached example, the black shapes each have a drop shadow effect in yellow. When exported, the shadows appear shorter and narrower. The difference is approximately 20 pt narrower and 1 pt shorter. (Note the difference in proportion of the yellow drop shadow and black shape in the screenshots.) I've also included the drop shadow effect attributes.
This occurs with multiple PDF export settings including the default [High Quality Print]. I am able to reproduce this behavior in both InDesign versions 15.1.2 and 16.0.

Slow performance - spinning wheel - AdobeFnt22.lst
Hi Adobe, we are still having major issues with a lot of spinning wheels in InDesign version 15.1.1. because of the AdobeFnt22.lst files that are created with every document. Basically when we open a document it resyncs/updates the AdobeFnt22.lst file of every document that was previously worked from that Mac. This is causing a lot of network traffic and spinning wheels in InDesign. The problem is fixed if we restart the Mac or rename the "Document fonts" folder so that InDesign no longer uses the fonts so does not create an "AdobeFnt.lst" file. Can you please sort this out, it…

InDesign 2020 15.0.1 CEP panel size bug on Windows HiDPI with scaling > 100%
On some Windows workstations, my InDesign CEP panel has the wrong size (way too large). This looks like a re-surfacing of the old bug mentioned here:

Disappearing footnotes on export
Since updating to the latest major release of InDesign (14), we have been experiencing issues in one of our templates where footnotes have been disappearing from chapters (documents) in a Book when exporting the Book as a PDF.
This was not an issue in previous versions of InDesign and the template has not changed.
Is this perhaps a bug?

Weight remains on text when exported to pdf even if changed to zero.
I am using InDesign CC 2019 14.01 x64.
Once a stroke weight has been added, if you then change the stroke weight back to zero, then when you export to pdf the pdf will have a stroke weight added to the text, even though the indesign document looks correct. It may not have the original amount of weight that was added, but it will definitely have what looks to be around a .2 weight added.
However, if you were to start a new document, then add stroke weight, then click edit - undo stroke weight, then it would export to…

Conditional text is not applied correctly after line break in IDMLs
If Unconditional text follows a line break where another Paragraph Style is applied with Conditional text, making an IDML out of the document will change the Unconditional text to Conditional.
Please see example screenshots.

Bad optical kerning for superscript "4"
When a superscript "4" follows a closing smart quotation mark, optical kerning is set to -60 or -70 depending on font. This is too close (basically a crash).
This is annoying for books with lots of endnotes, where superscript numbers usually follow quotation marks.

Translation bug : Spread -> Grossi instead of Planche (in french)
- Click on publish online button Single Page is well translated as "Un(e) seul(e)" (page) Spread is wrongly translated as "Grossi" Grossi means bigger (or what we had with trapping : spreading inks, so making ink marks bigger) Planche which has been the accepted term in inDesign for ages.

Multi-state objects and animated elements not working on State 1
InDesign CC 2019 14.0:
I have a 4 state multi-state object. Each state has a full-screen image with a text title and description which animates in (Fly-in from top) for each state upon load. Left/Right buttons control the interactivity.
However, when I add an animation to the text title/description in State-1 it causes the full-screen image to not load and the test/description text doesn't appear either. (Tested in Indesign in the EPUB Interactivity Preview panel and on iPad/iBooks)
When testing it in the EPUB Interactivity Preview panel and I go to State-2 using the buttons and then return to State-1…

Inconsistent Text Wrap across two column layout
Text wrap is applied inconsistently from column to column, i.e. text will offset by uneven amounts in adjacent columns. This happens for all types of Text Wrap except for the Jump Wrap, which does not misalign the top two lines of text!
The only fix I could manage was to Force All Lines to the Baseline Grid, and redraw the bottom Text Wrap line unevenly for the two columns. The images attached show first the problem and second the fix.
I believe this started happening with the introduction of CC versions, but I'm not 100% sure of that timing.11 votesThanks for reporting.
