Apparently this is still an issue that Adobe is not addressing. I just upgraded my MacOS to Sierra, and am running CS6 (NOT on cloud). I NEVER had this problem before, and now it's happening all the time. HELP, ADOBE! This totally SUCKS!

Jessie Kendall-Merks: THANK YOU! This solved my disappearing text issue. I selected all the frames on the page, changed the frame from none to Registration, then back to none. The text reappeared. The frames with a fill did not correct themselves, but that is far easier to redo than rebuilding an approved ad!

Penart, i agree. As soon as i install back up with ID installed, everything is ok. Then after some time it happens again.

YES! I'm having the same issue — I open a week-old Indesign file, and text is missing randomly from text boxes only on certain pages (boxes look completely blank and I'm not able to highlight the text using my cursor / type tool). The only way I've found to "recover" the text is to select the text box and change the frame outline or stroke color to black, not only does the frame change to black — but, the text appears in black. Very weird. I'm working on a MacBook Pro, OS High Sierra 10.13.6 in CC 2019, Indesign 14.0.1 and the problem is repeated by my teammates in the latest Windows OS, running the same version of Indesign, but I think the PC version is called Indesign 14.0.1 x 64. Is it related to having multiple text and paragraph styles in the same document that might be conflicting? I see this text thread doesn't have many hits and will likely be ignored by Adobe. I wish there was a better way to report bugs with some resolution in mind. I would like to upload a screenshot, but there is no upload button.

Is there any solution to this problem yet? Have moved over to CC2018 on a Windows 10 platform and having the same problem of text disappearing while editing. Thanks

I suspect this bug may have been created intentionally to drive designers from the stand-alone version to the subscription version. maybe I'm being paranoid, but I have not found a good fix for it yet, and it's annoying as hell.

Text disappears when task is changed (returned to ID, v14 x64 Win10). Scrolling helps if the text is outside the window.

@Penart Visuals - I can't seem to find that setting. Can you point me in the right direction?

this is a problem when your CS^ may have originally been linked to the Cloud. You need to go into preferences (when no docs are open) and delete a setting that tells CS6 to keep checking online. I found this solution a few weeks ago but was moving too fast to implement it: UGH!. Am searching for it now because this darn bug is plaguing me again!

Try re-arranging the layers. Drag the background to the bottom-most layer.

I have this same issue with text and objects disappearing. Zooming in or out will bring them back. Very inconvenient!

The text in some of the text boxes just disappears when reopened, especially in files that are a couple of days old.

I'm working on a long copy ad for my class and I made a uniquely shaped text box in the shape of a wine bottle. The problem is when I fill it in with my copy, after a few seconds of not writing anything, the text will disappear. It's still there just invisible. I have to interact with it again to make it visible again and when I go to export the text doesn't appear. Do you know any quick fixes?

I agree. It can't seem to keep up with rendering while editing. I was wondering if the dynamic spell checker is the culprit?

I have the same problem occurring randomly and only solved by changing preview mode or restarting InDesign. The problem has been around for a few versions now and also on different computers

This bug's been around for years in ID 2015 e ID 2017 for Windows. I'm using Windows 10, but it does happen with Win 7 too. Any solution yet?
