We're happy to announce that the fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign - version 17.2 that is available to download from Creative Cloud Desktop application.

Please update to this latest InDesign version to get the fix.

Just to understand this better, I am using :
    >>> InDesign CS6, version 8.0 ---because I do NOT want to pay the much MUCH higher cost for an ongoing subscription, as I use ID only intermittently these days, although I am highly experienced/professional-level user.

It is my understanding that if I upgrade, I will no longer be able to use this CS6 inDesign without upgrading to the predatory-priced subscription. I have one (small) client for whom I need indesign, but I ALSO need continued access to my older personal files.

    Am I correct or mistaken?

I am using an iMac, Mac OS High Sierra, 10.13.6

<<ahh! My message was just erased>> what I SAID was that you can simply dupe your text box by dragging to pasteboard, then when visibility returns, delete the dupe.

It is utter PIA and I believe that it was built into this software to drive users to the more costly subscription.

a quick fix is to duplicate your text box by dragging while holding down the option key. Visibility returns, then delete the dupe.

Please note: solution must be within the CS6 environment or it's useless. Some of us intend/need to remain in the NON- subscription environment for economic reasons.

I have found one ******* fix is to Option+drag the text block and immediately Delete the dupe you created. Not elegant but it's fast.

I suspect this bug may have been created intentionally to drive designers from the stand-alone version to the subscription version. maybe I'm being paranoid, but I have not found a good fix for it yet, and it's annoying as hell.

this is a problem when your CS^ may have originally been linked to the Cloud. You need to go into preferences (when no docs are open) and delete a setting that tells CS6 to keep checking online. I found this solution a few weeks ago but was moving too fast to implement it: UGH!. Am searching for it now because this darn bug is plaguing me again!
