I confirm this annoying bug. The only way is to delete the InDesign folder in C:\Users\My name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe. Even a reboot of the computer does not solve th problem. As a consequence, you have to set every time your application parameters, as they stored in this folder.
Please solve rapidly this bug.

I don't understand why this VERY BASIC issue has not been resolved, even with the latest patch. I cannot create a new document. I type in the specs of the new document to create, and nothing happens. PLEASE FIX THIS!!

can't create new document. Version 16.0.1. upgraded today. When I try to create a new document either through the file menu or through a preset I get nothing. Through the file menu I can see the document behind the window but when I click Create or Close. it disappears.

When creating a new document using a predefined preset the dialog box disappears with no response...

We are having the same issue with 2021 version. Go to "File", "New", "Document" or "Control N" and it will not open the new document once you press "create".

I have just tested 5 installs of Indesign 2021. All OSX 10.15.6 or 10.15.7, and having the same problem.
Works if you use Legacy "New Document" Dialog in general preferences.

Program won't allow me to create a new document. After completing paraments and clicking "create", nothing happens. I am able to open an existing document and change parameters.

I am unable to create new document in InDesign 2021 (16.0). I go FILE/NEW/DOCUMENT decide my size and title, click CREATE and nothing happens, window disappears but no new document is created.

I've tried few times and still no good.

Same issue on Windows 10 Pro 2004! Upgrade InDesign 2020 to 2021

InDesign 2021 / 2015 iMac / OSX 10.15.7 : Had the same issue on my system. I tried restarting the program a few times but it still didn't work. Eventually I manually entered the sheet dimensions, rather than selecting a "Recent Item" and it worked.

EDIT: Restarted the program using cmd+shift+optn+ctrl and deleted preferences. Seems to have fixed the issue at the cost of resetting all of my preferences.

InDesign 2021: Went to make a new document, put in the specs and hit ok, the window closes but nothing happens, no new document is created. Tried again, still nothing. I restarted InDesign and tried a third time, no new document. I had a team member try on a separate computer and they could not create a new document either. Had to open an existing file and change the document setup to make the blank file I needed.

This issue just started with me also on InDesign 2021. Ive been using it for about a week and this issue just started yesterday. I have to open an existing document and just resize and resave as my new document for now.

I have a MacBook Air pro that just updated to Catalina 10.15.3 and now I can't get it to work. I am able to open the app but if I try to click on create a new design it just doesn't work s until I force quit it.
I also can't open any indesign projects I have saved. What's happening?

I have the same issue. Version 16.0 under Mac OS 10.15.7.
The dialogue box works properly. When you click on 'create', nothing happens.
Opening an existing file (any size) seems to work just fine.
Some sizes work (make a new blank 11x17)…8.5 x 11 does not (cannot make a new 8.5 x 11 document). Work-around: create an 11x17, resize it to 8.5 x 11.

When trying to create a new document in InDesign 2021 (v16.0), and using millimetres as the unit of measurement, once you click on "Create" -- nothing happens. Choosing another unit of measurement works fine. Nothing crashes, but no new document is created.
