ID 2020 15.1 - All text variables (including page numbers) replaced by "ss" text
Just updated to ID 2020 15.1 and found a bug which makes the program unusable forcing me to immediately downgrade.
When I open on of my ID documents created in previous version of ID, all of my defined text variables as well as page numbers are corrupted and replaced by the "ss" text. Changing the style has no effect. I can create page number based on the 'Basic Paragraph' style but when i choose any other previously created style, the number changes to 'ss'.
Even the variable field preview shows 'ss' text instead of variable name.
The same document opens in ID 2020 15.0.3 without any problems.
The fix is now publicly available in the latest InDesign update, 15.1.1
Please update to this latest version to get the fix.

Idem. Toutes mes brochures ont leurs numéros de page transformés en SS suite à la mise à jour.
Les N° de page actives ne marchent plus.. C'est catastrophique -

Facing the same issue, just opened a previous document done by me. All the pages where it should say the page numbers, it shows "ss" .

in der Version 15.1 x64 wird die "aktuelle Seitenzahl" durch (SS) auf der Musterseite und auf allen weiteren Seiten dargestellt. Die Seitenzahl erscheint nicht.

I found that if the Adobe Paragraph Composer, rather than the World-Ready Paragraph Composer is selected, this allows the page number referencing to work.

We will have a beta build posted soon, most likely tomorrow. We will follow it up soon with the hotfix release, once a round of validation has been completed.

Just updated to InDesign 15.1 x64 (running on Windows 10), this a.m. 2020/06/18 and page number markers don't work. Inserts "SS" into document. Both old and new document.

I have the same problem, it is inadmissible to have this problem when we have to send documents to print ... Thank you for making usable updates.

When you go play with Convert to text it helps, but I can't figure it out if it's (page number) of (page number)

I understand that I can fix this using the workaround but I really need my files to be correct in the first place. Please advise when a patch is released.

Adobe InDesign 15.1
"Type - Insert Special Character - Current Page Number" is not working since the new update. Instead I only see "SS" where the number should be. Next and previous page numbers are the same. They just come up as "SS" too.

Please fix this bug asap. Switching from World Ready Paragraph Composer to the regular Adobe Paragraph Composer isn't a good long term solution.
