Major System Font Issue!
WHAT THE FONT!?!
Our publishing company recently ran the InDesign update (to 15.0.2) and have discovered some major font issues. I have narrowed it down to InDesign 15.0.2, macOS Catalina 10.15.3, and Suitcase Fusion 21.0.0. I actually don't think Suitcase has too much to do with this, because the problem occurred after the InDesign update, but it's our font management software so I'm including it. Basically it appears system fonts have become problematic with InDesign. Packaged files are suddenly showing up with lots of the dreaded pink. I have tested about everything I can. I even created some very simple type only files that are having system font issues as well. Sometimes the document will open ok and the fonts will appear fine. Then when I go to export, the system fonts turn pink. Sometimes the file can't open the fonts at all and they start out and remain highlighted pink. Other times it will open but them shut off a few seconds later. It's only happening with system fonts. I have included screen shots for reference. I hope this issue can be fixed asap because it's font chaos over here! Thank you.
The fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign – version 16.1
Please update to this version to get the fix.

All I have to do is copy drag placed pdf files to get a missing fonts popup. It also happens when I open my file and copy/paste within the document. I'm tired of this. It feels impossible to shuffle items on a page because of this.
PLEASE FIX!
Note: I'm using Suitcase Fusion. The problem improved once I made changed according to suggestions, but those changes are still in place, yet the problem has returned.

Obviously this problem is still major. It is a random problem that I am finding with CC Indesign 15.1.2. Wondering if I should resurrect my old Windows 7 computer and use the installed version of CS6. I never had this problem before using subscription based software from Adobe for InDesign. Why hasn't this been fixed or at least why haven't you given us a work around that works? I use Suitcase Fusion v21.1.1.9160. No font problems with Photoshop, Illustrator.

I am still facing issues with Avenir almost daily.... I'm on version 15.1.2.
When I initially open a file that uses Avenir, it will show a missing font. Substituting the font won't work. Often, I find I have to totally quit INDD. Then when I reopen, Avenir will be fine.
It's frustrating.

This is still occurring with the 15.1.2 update.
We've had 3 or 4 updates since this was reported and it still hasn't been fixed.
This fix should be top priority considering how many people have been affected for so long!!

Fonts missing after 3 years working with it, not in all files, just in some files. Very annoying, commenting to receive updates on this matter.

That is not serious Adobe!

Please. Please. Please. Can a dev address this issue here? It's radio silence and being informed will help us to communicate to our clients regarding this critical issue. I literally just updated the Indesign application and the problem of installed fonts not being recognized remains.
I have uninstalled the app as well as deleted ALL preferences and cache. I am not in the position to replace brand identities or fonts. These are major brands and nothing else is acceptable. I realize and empathize with the complexity of your role in finding a fix, but we need information.
This is destroying my ability to hold off client anger and ruining my production schedule.
Regards.

I am having the same issue with Avenir. I am trying to wrap up our monthly magazine and keep having problems. I'm about to the point of changing out Avenir with another font. Major waste of time! UGH!

This has become a NIGHTMARE for me. Fonts that are loaded and appear in the menu are flagged as missing and text either displays with the pink highlight or in some cases as jumbled letters/symbols that are completely unreadable. Totally random. I can open a file and it works, then save, close and reopen and it's a mess. Or open and it's a mess, then zoom, and it's fine. Zero rhyme or reason, but absolute madness. Add super frequent crashes to the mix and this is a MAJOR time suck and pain in the butt. PLEASE fix.

Jeez, I've been spending the last two days working on an InDesign document using Avenir. It randomly but constantly behaves, then doesn't, behaves then doesn't. It's driving me crazy and has turned what should have been a simple two-hour job into, well, who knows? I can't reliably count on InDesign to finish the effen job. Fix this. Earlier this summer there was a Spell Check problem that arrived with one of the updates. What's going on, Adobe?

I have just updated to Catalina and am having the same issue I use FontExplorer which I have been using for years and never had a problem with fonts till I upgraded to Catalina yesterday. I also just updated to InDesign 15.1.2 and it is still doing this. Also when I go to create a new file the InDesign 'New File' window isn't displaying correctly I have attached a screenshot to show the issue.

Just have to jump in and also confirm that as of Aug 21 2020, ID font problem is still happening.
Thank goodness I finally found this thread. I am over in another conversation in Support - and I have two Adobe "professionals" having me jump through hoops- deleting preferences, installing and uninstalling software, moving fonts around, etc. While apparently the problem is with the software, and is happening to a LOT of people.
I use this software for a living, and keep paying for it monthly, and will until the dawn of time.
FIX IT!!!!!!!!
