BUG Keypress doesn´t respond
With updating to 13.1 March 2018 Update: When you type to a text frame you have to do it twice before the character appears in the frame. I have this problem on two Windows 10 machines...
Hello All,
Thank you for your support all this while. The issue is now fixed in the latest update of InDesign.
Please upgrade to the new InDesign 14.0 from your Creative Cloud Application.
If you are unable to see the update yet, click on the menu (three dots) on the top right corner of Creative cloud app and click on “Check for App Updates”.
Let us know your feedback in the comment section.
Thanks,

To go further in to this issue - it presented itself after the 13.0.1 update. Rewinding the version of InDesign fixes this bug - obviously the update was meant to fix bugs but made a particularly glaring one. But what the issue is for me - it is around certain styles I have set up. You remove any styling and it goes away. This could come down to the typeface and its own OpenType features and how that interacts with Adornment. For now I have just rewound my version. But from accounts on here turning off that feature helps. Transfering pages to a new doc, or saving as IDML does not help in any way.

I'm having the same issue. It only happens while using InDesign.

In the last CC update I have an issue typing the first character into any textbox. I need to type the letter twice to get the letter to show. Any help appreciated.

This is crazy! Why do you change the most simple and obvious type-editing to something so awkward? So your FIRST key pressing is overlooked, pretty handy when editing text! This is great feature, who invented this?

Same issue here after the most recent update. After highlighting text the first keystroke doesn't register

Frequently, when I start typing, the first character in the string goes missing. This just started appearing but I cannot put a date on it.

When editing text, I highlight/select the text that needs modifying but when I start typing, nothing is happening. The selected text doesn't change. This forces me to click before or after the word(s) and hit the delete or backspace keys. This just started happening with the latest update on Tuesday. (v13.1)

I have the same problem of the first key stroke not registering in a text box. Pradeep's work around works but would love to have the issue resolved.

Since installing the latest update, when I highlight text to edit or replace, the first letter never appears. I always have to go back to the beginning of the word and type in the first letter again. It's not just annoying it's time consuming and hitting the bottom line as every job is taking much longer.

For those who don't know what "Show Adornment" does - when you highlight some text a little font icon shows up in the bottom-right corner that gives you additional open-type font controls on the fly. This is a pretty useless "feature" for me, and it's obviously pretty buggy as well. Pradeep's workaround does work (thank you Pradeep), but it's definitely a workaround, not a fix. Still, even when they do fix this, I'll probably leave this little "feature" disabled.

Changing the Advanced Type preference fixed the problem for me. But it remains a problem! This setting should be OFF by default. The tens of thousands of InDesign users who did not find this particular thread in this particular forum are all in the dark and extremely annoyed!

Bug report: In the latest update of ID CC (13.1), using the Type Tool to edit text within a text box, I double-click to select text. Then I type the new text to replace it. But the first character never appears. For example, if I want to change the word "today" into "tomorrow", I double click "today" to select it. Then I type "tomorrow". But what appears is "omorrow".
This did not happen in previous versions. I was able to easily edit text as in every other text editor on the market. This is a new bug introduced into the latest update. It is EXTREMELY frustrating for someone like me, who must edit and fix errors in client-supplied files, where all I have is the .indd file.
Please fix URGENTLY!

This isn't an idea, it's a gross error that's gotta be fixed.
In the previous versions, as well as in any text editor on earth, when you selected a block of text, you then begin typing and the selected word(s) disappear, and whatever you've typed appears in its place.
Now, the first letter is ignored. Let's say I select the word "example" and typed the word "selection"; it would appear as "election".
As you know, this is not the way text editing works in any software package.

Software version: 13.1
OS versions: Windows 7 Professional or Windoes 10 (not Mac)After the latest upgrade, when I select a text and try to replace it with a number, I have to digit the number (every numeric button of the keyboard) twice instead of once.
Please fix this bug!
