publish online navigation buttons disappear in browsers and don't come back
When I view a published document, the browser based navigation buttons and menu for downloading disappear after a couple seconds and don't come back without hitting F5. This is unworkable. Please change it so the nav arrows remain on the screen, even in full screen mode. I can't have my clients struggling to go to the next page. This happens in Chrome and Firefox. In Edge, they disappear, but will reappear if I move my mouse to the edge of the screen - also very frustrating because I just want to click through the document without struggling to find the arrows. This is a browser issue, NOT a document issue - this happens with ALL documents.
This issue has now been fixed for the browsers which were showing this anomalous behavior.
Please check to see if it is working fine now and let us know if the problem still occurs for you.

Please help. I am looking like a fool or worse, when I tell my clients it just doesn’t work in Android they think I am lying to them. Please at least an eta on this. It’s such a great feature but this is a bit of a flaw!

Publish online documents does not work on Android phones or tablets. It works on iPads and iPhones and computer browsers.
The bug: when the doc opens the navigation bar/control panel that has the pages disapperar after 1-2 seconds. When tapping on the phone it does not come back. When swiping nothing happens - have tried in all directions. I have attached an image to show that no nav bar is present.
Here is an example:
https://indd.adobe.com/view/1951a861-5c17-40d9-a6c8-3a9294cce9f9
I have seen a few others mention this error (back in 2018!) but no solution has been given.
We use the newest InDesign 2021 version - 16.0.1 x64.
The problem is on all Android phones/tablets and all browsers. -

Hi, is there any resolution for this yet? I am having the same issues as described by Lydia. It's causing me problems with a document for a high profile client. I'd like to be able to use adobe software, but when this issue is causing the document to be unusable, I am left with not choice but to look for other solutions. An update would be HUGELY appreciated! Thanks!

We have been having the similar issue as Lydia described. Adobe InDesign version 16.0 x64, Windows 10. Output works everywhere else but in Android Chrome browser (Chrome version 85.0.4183.101). It is very frustrating! Please InDesign team, fix this! Thank you!

I’ve been having the same exact problem. I’ve made a Publish online document for a high profile client. The document works perfectly on Desktop and runs smoothly on an android phone with the Samsung internet browser, but not with the chrome browser.
Bug Report:
1. Adobe InDesign version: 16.0
2. Step to reproduce the issues:
This occurs using the mobile chrome browser for android. I open my document published with publish online. The whole menu automatically placed with the move arrows, thumbnails, full screen options, etc. is gone. And I can’t go to the next page. Not by swipe, not by menu, nothing works.
3. Excepted result: That it works the same as in other mobile browsers like Samsung internet browser. The menu and swipe options should work, because chrome for android is the far more popular browser.
4. Actual result. A one page document with no way to move to the next page and no standard Adobe Publish online menu (with arrows, thumbnails, share options etc). Please fix this or help us fix this as soon as possible. We need this feature to be able to provide complete functionality to our clients.
Kind Regards,
Lydia

Please fix this severe bug. It's reproducible every time. Two scenarios:
1. If the mouse is already moving when the HTML completely renders, it occurs immediately.
2. If the mouse is completely still when HTML is completely rendered, then it requires moving the mouse again and leaving it there for about 3 seconds. This is reproducible in Chrome, Safari.
No clicks, mouse movements bring it back, except... if you move the mouse cursor out of the window completely or click at the very edge of the screen.
Final MASSIVE COMPLAINT:
The "Next Page" button (if it's showing :-)) is completely unnoticeable on wide displays because it's super far from the content. Can you offer next and forward buttons in the bottom nav instead of or in addition to the super faint navigation arrows in the margins that actually disappear when there's same-colored content under them?

Is there a fix to this issue? I am having the same problem and I am considering ditching the version I published online altogether unless there is a solution.

I have a laptop with touch screen that is connected to a large monitor. Because my laptop is touch screen, I cannot navigate through files published online with InDesign while using a mouse and using Chrome as my browser? How are my clients supposed to know this if they are in a similar situation? From the perspective of a user, this document isn't functioning properly. I'm hoping this is resolved soon. I was excited to use this feature but now I'm not comfortable because of platform issues.

Don't think this is not a touch-capable/external monitor issue. Happening in Chrome on a Mac, which is not touch-enabled. Several other bug reports about this.
