Shortcuts and keyboard keys stop working.

CC2018, Windows 10, latest update as of 01/18/18, x64 system with 12GB RAM. I often have to close and reopen documents or InDesign itself for shortcuts and some keys to work. There does not seem to be a common cause or specific file(s) that sets it off and it may or may not happen to all open documents if more than one is open. Generally closing the document and reopening it helps, but there have been times where I have to restart the program for anything to work. The issue includes any shortcuts and sometimes keys such as the arrow keys when trying to edge a graphic or text box over. Generally, I am able to type in the file name if I am trying to save my work before I close the program, but there have been times that my keyboard is disabled there as well and I have to save over what I have open, rely on the auto-backup file, or duplicate the file in Explorer and rename it so I don't lose the original file. This has not been an issue in any other programs except InDesign and has only been in the past few weeks. The crashing since the last update has subsided, but this issue has not. I would love to know how to fix this.

    Wrong. InDesign CC 2022 still has those issues, and now it won't deploy menus, either. WTH?

    This program used to be essential and now it's the equivalent of a damned boat anchor.

    THIS IS NOT MAKING WARM CUSTOMER RELATIONS.

    Quite annoying indeed. For the users.
    Cause Adobe obviously don't care.

    Not fixed and neither are all the rest of the issues you think are, including the screen red out!

    100% not fixed, I can't use Space to quick grab and drag the document and Shift won't contain proportions when resizing objects. I've performed a clean install of CC but it made no difference. It started as an intermittent fault that was cured by restarting but it's got worse to the point they won't work at all even after a restart.

    InDesign 16.2.1, Macbook Air M1.

    I feel this has never been fixed. I always have the most up to date version installed, and nearly every time i open a document, when i try to Zoom in using Control +, or Print using Control + P, pretty much anything that involves keyboard commands, absolutely nothing happens.

    The only workaround is to manually select the Type tool with the mouse. Click on a text box to make an active cursor, and then click back on the black arrow tool!

    Once this step is done, then keyboard commands work as normal. This has been happening for years.

    As of 22/05/2012: Still not fixed! I use almost all CC apps and I can confirm it's a CC-wide problem.

    Feeling clumsy like some old person who's got a disability with his hand.

    PLEASE put this at the top of your backlog. It makes me want to throw my computer out of the window. And I can imagine a whole lot of other persons as well.

    16.2.1 on mac OSX 10.15.7 Catalina NOT WORKING as of today! Haven't changed anything!

    Quick keys have just stopped working?????
    No magnification of spacebar moving around the page, it's like I've just had to learn the programme again, work is taking 3 times longer than it should!

    Hi
    I've come to use and love indesign all the time, but on getting a new computer and installing it I have found none of the keyboard shortcuts work and also using things such as back space or enter when typing text does not work either. How can I resolve this??

    Is there an answer to this please - just upgraded to OS BIG SUR and now shortcut keys not working in InDesign...?!

    Nope. Still not working. Actually, it seems to be worse. I used to lose my shortcuts everytime I crashed (which is several times a day), but now I lose them while I'm working in a session, any time I export a document.

    The problem is not fixed in 2021... it's worse.

    Is not fixed. None of my buttons work any more. ie space bar for hand tool page drag. Space, command for zooming. Getting rather frustrated.

    It is still happening and I updated to 2021.
