Changing font in Character Panel frequently causes a crash in Indesign CC 2018
Since 2018 version, changing a font in the character panel frequently crashes the application, but not 100% of the time. Font worked fine in older version and sometimes works fine in 2018, but the same issue has happened a good few times in the last week or so.
Hello All,
Thank you for your support all this while. The issue is now fixed in the latest update of InDesign.
Please upgrade to the new InDesign 14.0 from your Creative Cloud Application.
If you are unable to see the update yet, click on the menu (three dots) on the top right corner of Creative cloud app and click on “Check for App Updates”.

This happens with me as well. 2008 Mac Pro, El Capitan 10.11.6, InDesign CC 2018 (13.0.1).
It happens on various fonts, but consistently. If it happens with one font, it happens with that font every time. It only seems to happen when selecting the font with the mouse. Typing the full name of the font in the text box and hitting Return seems to select it without issue for me.

Has there been an update/fix for this issue? It is impossible to get any work done when the program crashes every time I try to change a font. I am using High Sierra on a 2018 iMac.

This also happens to me with InDesign 2018 CC. Every time I open a document and change a font for the first time, it crashes the application. It doesn't matter what font, which document, etc. I'm using a late 2015 iMac with El Capitan.

Same here, every time I change my fonts to Arial it crashes any files I am using... Super annoying!
That really needs to be fixed. -

Same here. Changing fonts causes ID to freeze, or crash - but not consistently. Doesn't seem a particular font. Late 2010 Mac Pro running OS X v. 10.12.6

The same crash is happening to me on an early 2008 iMac running El Capitan with Indesign CC 2018. I select the text, open the font dropdown, click on a different typeface (change from normal to italic, for instance), and Indesign crashes.

I am also having this problem, on my iMac (late 2015, running 10.13.1) with Indesign CC 2108 (latest release). I select a line of text in a text frame, open the Font dropdown menu in the Character palette, select Minion Pro, and on click the application crashes.

Hi, It has happened with various different files and the font, from what I can remember of each, has been an opentype format. Not variable. For ref, the last font it happened to was PF DIN Text Pro.
