Can't drag objects
I am unable to drag objects/textbox/etc in InDesign. I can resize using corner handles but I'm unable to click and drag object to desired location I've uninstalled, reinstalled, shutdown, restarted, cleared all settings, etc and nothing seems to work. I have never encountered this issue in all my years of using InDesign. Please help!
Hello All,
We thank you for your patience all this while.
Addressing this problem has been tricky for us given the random nature of the issue.
Determined to resolve the issue, we had launched our investigation into the matter to identify the root cause and fix it.
Many of you must have received email from us seeking more details about the issue.
We have concluded our investigation and came up with the below mentioned finding:
It was found that, most of the times, users were trying to drag an empty polygon which was leading the confusion because the legacy behaviour of InDesign allows dragging of polygon only from its edges or the centre most point.
If the user tries to drag it from any other position, the object cannot be moved.
We have tried to improve the user experience in this regard. You can try the same in InDesign’s latest version id 14.0.3.
Please download and install id 14.0.3 and let us know your feedback on the new experience.
Note:
If you are unable to drag other types of objects (other than empty polygons), please check the memory usage of your system. It has been observed that when the memory usage reaches the critical level, dragging of the objects become difficult.
As a workaround, you may either try to close some applications or restart the system.
Regards,
InDesign team

This has been a recurring problem for me for at least a year or two. It's extremely disruptive and disappointing. The only reliable fix is a complete shutdown and reboot.
Objects can be resized by dragging corners.
App frame is OFF
All objects are affected: Text boxes, image boxes, rules... -

I contacted Adobe via chat. They took remote access of my Mac and fixed the issue in about an hour. Deleted my preferences, uninstalled the app, reinstalled and rebooted my computer. Everything works now.

I've just experienced the same issue. I contacted Adobe via the live chat and a representative remote accessed my computer and deleted a couple of folders to reset the preferences and got it back working with a few minutes.

I posted earlier, but wanted to mention some new issues I have found with the drag function unusable. While these tasks can be done via other means, not having these shortcuts is very frustrating and adds time to each project. I thought this might help Adobe understand the scope of the bug.
1. I cannot drag color swatches into the gradient panel to make an object a gradient.
2. I cannot apply a master to a page by dragging it onto that page.
3. I cannot delete or duplicate layers or pages by dragging these down to the trash can or "new" icon.Adobe Support-Can we please get an update?

Objects move with the arrow keys, but not with the trackpad/mouse. I literally installed this yesterday (April 5, 2018) and this function is so basic to any GUI that I am astounded it doesn't work AND that Adobe seems to know about it but hasn't provided a solution!
1. Mac Sierra 10.12.6
2. Yes, I can use any other manipulation function except drag
3. On
4. All objects -

Hey,
I'm having the same issues, can't drag anything via mouse? It moves by keyboard arrows but that's it.
Has anyone found a fix?
Thanks,

1. Sierra 10.12.6
2. Yes, I can resize but not drag
3. Application Frame is On, but error still happens when it is Off
4. Every item. Image, shape, text box, etc.I have updated to the latest version of Indesign, reset all Indesign preferences, uninstalled the app and reinstalled, rebooted my computer, made sure Chrome didn't have any crazy plugins...and still the same issue.
This error makes InDesign almost unusable. I would hope to have a fix ASAP.
