Same here, even without GPU graphics.
High Sierra GM, 2017.1We also have the very same issue on an 2017 iMac with Sierra and GPU activated.
Superannoying, to put it mildly. -

It's a big problem! I hope that Adobe will fix this very soon!

Turning off GPU performance does not fix it.

Hello John, same here, i tried deleting the preferences but it doesn't work... Maybe a problem of the High Sierra Beta? I'm on Beta 7.

This issue has persisted through every update to the macOS High Sierra beta. I have not seen it occur in other Adobe apps or anywhere else in the system.

I have been having this problem as well. Sometimes, the direct selection tool turns into a small square of code or completely disappears and I am forced to use shortcuts to save and quit until I restart the application. It is a significant issue in work flow and performance.

I have the exact same problem. MacBook Pro 2017 Radeon Pro 560, High Sierra & 2017.1. Can also temporarily fix by relaunching InDesign.

Posted this to Apple beta feedback: After placing an image and choosing the either the selection tool or the direct selection tool, the mouse pointer becomes a flickering square with faded horizontal lines rather than becoming a standard black or hollow arrowhead. It shows the normal look when pointing at the menu or toolbar but reverts to the misbehaving look in the workspace.

Can occasionally get back to real pointer by restarting ID. Using CC 2017.1 release on macOS 10.13 beta.

A few seconds after startup the mouse pointer turns into some sort of weird glitch looking image. This makes it super difficult to control and click on specific things. Any ideas how to stop this doing this.?

Latest version of Indesign and the latest BETA of OS X High Sierra (Beta 5)... has been a problem since change over.
Seems to happen after program has been running for a couple minutes. Almost looks like it cannot find Direct Select icon. Makes it very difficult to scale boxes.
