InDesign v21.4 crashing every 5 minutes
Since my update to v21.4 today, InDesign 2026 has been crashing on me every 5 minutes - once was under a minute of opening, while I was reading about a missing font.

- Video recording of the crash

The V21.4.1 app keeps crashing
Now the task ends every time it crashes… which is several times a day. Not very productive…
I only do basic layout work – inserting images, text and so on… even a simple copy and paste can be enough to crash the system.

I experienced frequent slowdowns and crashes soon after adding images to an InDesign document quickly, one after another. In my case, it turned out that AI-generated descriptions were added to the images (accessible through Object export settings), and InDesign struggled in adding them in succession, causing the program to freeze. I disabled the "Automatically generate alternative text" et cetera option in Preferences window, in Generative AI tab, and this solved the issue for me. (I was using the 21.4 Windows version of InDesign at the time of writing this comment).

Since my update to v21.4 i have to run InDesign twice because it crashes the first time. Shift deselect still doesn't work especially if the objects are on different layers

Nope, restored 21.3 and that is no better
