InDesign version: 15.0.2
Suddenly (after the latest March 2020 InDesign update?) the AdobeFont.lst file created with InDesign packages automatically shows up with folder structure after deleting a package. This is really aggravating for file management. It's as if my team can't fully delete InDesign packages. This is happening with multiple InDesign files on multiple machines.138 votes
We have fixed this issue and the fix is available in latest InDesign build 15.1.1
please confirm in comments if the fix is working well for you
I'm on InDesign 15.02, in Mojave 10.14.6. After I have initially packaged an indesign file, InDesign is automatically generating new packaged folders for those files with only font folders inside of them. as soon as I throw those bogus folders in the trash, a new folder is generated. I've put them all in a folder to do a count: there's 324 garbage items generated in 3 days.
I am doing many versions of many files at a fast pace and do not have time to be hunting around for which folder is the real one.7 votes
When I open an InDesign file that has been packaged with all the fonts (non-Adobe Fonts) included in the Document fonts folder, if I happen to have the same version of the font activated in Adobe Fonts, InDesign automatically, and without warning, substitutes the Adobe Fonts version. This is a major problem. The heirarchy should be document-installed fonts FIRST, then InDesign can look in Adobe Fonts and suggest replacing it. This should not be done without warning in the background. It means that the person who was working in a package workflow without using any Adobe Fonts can send a file to another person using Adobe Fonts, who unbeknownst to them, substitutes the font, then packages and returns the file, and now the font is missing from the new package when returned. This is a huge licensing issue at the very least.

Thank you for reporting the issue to us.
We are currently reviewing it.
Same bug that we had with CS6.
Basically if a Document Fonts folder exists, then opening the INDD file takes forever and/or freezes up constantly while working. But if we rename the subfolder or delete it altogether, then ID performs normally.2 votes
Packaging a file for print keeps creating a phantom folder that reappears and can't be deleted.3 votes
Shift Option Command P was not working, so I went to File: Package, and it's gone. I have restarted InDesign, restarted my computer, as well as tossed my preferences. I am using InDesign 15.1.1 on OS 10.14.6. Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!1 vote
When changing paragraph styles the remaining text moves, but kind of doesn't refresh without me clicking away from the frame with the cursor or zooming in. What happens is I get double text which is confusing. Crashing is happening too at this point.3 votes
When I print thumbnails [or a booklet] to a postscript file, InDesign 15.0.2 creates the file, but it cannot be read in either Preview or Acrobat.
You need to allow for a useable PS/PDF export for sharing thumbnails or booklets with colleagues who do not use InDesign.1 vote
Have you started to face problems only after updating to 15.0.2 version of InDesign?
Can you share a sample file and a video showing the steps you use for printing at email@example.com?
When packaging an InDesign file, if the filename contains a period, all characters after the period do not become written in the new package folder.
For example, if I package a file that is named "Project 06.16.20", the new package folder will be named "Project 06."
It should be named "Project 06.16.20" but for some reason, the name after the initial period gets ignored. User must type in the rest manually.1 vote
Data Merge is very buggy on latest update, makes tool useless:
1/ repeating same record over (with multiple records)
2/ records are not imported in order of source document
3/ preview and results do not match (alignment, records, etc)
tested with both txt and csv5 votes
I cannot print or output PDF file. When printing I get this error........ Printing error: The Adobe print engine has failed to output your data due to an unknown problem?1 vote
the last few days Ive been trying to package documents and I keep getting the same error (for whatever editorial project I have) that says "Indesign cannot package the document... Cannot copy necessary linked file(s)" (see printscreen) but all files are properly linked, in CMYK and 300dpi's (as I need them to be - never encounter this issue in over a decade of using Indesign) so Im kinda despairing here since Im on a schedule...
Does anyone know how to help please??
Thanks in advance.2 votes

I currently have Adobe InDesign version 15.0.1 x64 and when I log in it tells me that I have missing plugin's (see below for a list). I am still able to do all other functions but then when I go to package my document it is unsuccessful. The research I have done says I need to add these plugin's but I can't find where to do that in the Help section. I have even uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and I'm still experiencing this issue.

We have concluded our investigation into the issue and found that the issue is specific to few versions of MacOS 10.14.×.
As a part of our investigation we had reached out to many of you, where many of you have confirmed that the issue gets resolved after upgrading to MacOS 10.14.5.
If you are NOT using MacOS 10.14.5 and still facing this issue, please upgrade your MacOs to 10.14.5 version.
In case you continue to face the same issue after the upgrade, you may reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
For any other problem related to packaging workflows please create a new thread.
We are closing this thread for now.
Thank you for your patience all this while.
I have designed several booklets for a customer each targeting a specific audience. Some of these pages are the same like this back cover file which I have made using inDesign and is placed as the last page of all the booklets. When I make a print layout setting up the pages [12/1] [2/11] ... to print as a booklet I place all the pages from the indesign file for each book. This means that my print file references a design file which references a variety of pages and fliers of pdf, ai and indd types. I recently had some upgrades at work which turned off all the fonts managed on a server. Looking at the preview of my print layout file it was obvious that I was needing to activate a font, but inDesign says nothing was missing. I had to open the back cover page file itself before inDesign recognized there was a font problem. This is a very dangerous omission considering if I get in files from a client to print I might not need or want to open their single page originals, but just place them in the order needed to be printed as booklets.

When creating a PDF using german umlauts using InDesign for OS X and export the file as PDF/X-4, the Umlauts are displayed correctly in Acrobat for OS X, but wrong in Acrobat for Windows (and vice versa).
Acrobat Preflight flags the spot colors as " not a valid UTF-8 string"
It looks like the spot colors is generated with the coding of the respective OS, which is not valid by the PDF/X-4 specification2 votes
