Opening file in Indesign 2023 will not show file window without resetting workspace layout
When I initially startup my adobe indesign 2023 program and open a file from either the recent documents or drop down toolbar, the file window does not appear. It appears as if nothing has been opened. If I then select window > workspace > essentials (or any other saved workspace layout), the file window will appear.
If I have a file already open and is visible, I can open an additional file and it appear. It is only when I do not have a visible file window that this occurs. Therefore, if I was to close this file window and…

font menu scroll is jumpy and unresponsive on M1 MBP 16" / MacOS 13
Bug: Scrolling the font menu in indesign is jumpy and somewhat unresponsive at times on M1 MacBook Pro / MacOS 13.
It's hard to illustrate with video recording, so I do hope you test this.

When adding v-Card information for generating a business card QR code - Incorrect Title for email
When adding v-Card information for generating a business card QR code the email line comes up as work instead of email when the QR code is scanned and a window opens up on a mobile device. The category above on the form in InDesign states that the word "email" should appear above the contacts email. This is a needed fix noticed.

Absurd translation of the word "spread" in Czech UI
Please correct the absurd translation of the “spread” on the Effects window. In this context, you cannot translate it as “dvojstránky” (= two pages) but rather “rozšíření” – in InDesign CS6 the translation is correct.
Please note that in some languages one word can have multiple meanings. For example, in Czech we have one word for month and moon. The words are not interchangeable, you can’t say “the moon of July” in English. But this is exactly how you translate the aformentioned expression!
It is the same with the word spread in English, it has multiple meanings and cannot be translated…

non-breaking space creating strange character
Non-breaking spaces have suddenly started turning into strange horizontal apostrophes in a document - see attached image, the character between Ex and Libris. The only way to rectify has been to use a fixed width non-breaking space instead. Major headache!

Words in placed document become bold after certain characters
When we place text from a Word file, we always strip it of all existing layout. But for some reason there are some weird unicode characters that cause Indesign to make certain words bold... I'm not able to figure out why... you have a French text where a word starts with a e with an accent like ê and that word is suddely bold... even though in the Word file it isn't.
This also happens with Italics... I once had a text that used transliteration for Ancient Egyptian that is in italic and often starts with a "Ankh" symbol: Ꜥ…

Hallo,
seit kurzer Zeit werden einige Dateinamen auf der InDesign Startseite unleserlich dargestellt, als ob mehrere Namen übereinander stünden. Es tritt sporadisch auf. Ich kann den Fehler nicht konsistent reproduzieren.

Ghost hyperlinks can't be fixed
With placed Word text, I often have 'ghost hyperlinks', meaning I need there's no active hyperlink in the text but I'm not allowed to select that text and add a hyperlink – 'New hyperlink' is greyed out.
Double-clicking the paragraph inspires this message: "all corrupt hyperlinks in the selected text have been removed," but I'm still unable to add a hyperlink. The only fix I've found is to cut the text, paste it in another app, copy and re-paste it into ID as fresh 'uncorrupted' text.
Cutting all relevant paragraphs makes ID crash.
Of course this is a real hassle,…

objects in a page disappear when reapplying master page to that page
INDD v18.2.1
this is a new bug in CCOn a page, when re-applying the same master page (e.g parent A) to it, all text frame box will disappear. Why do I wanna reapply the same master page to it? Because sometimes the text box is moved by accident, so I re-apply the master page so that it will go back to the original position. It used to work in order versions of INDD. Not anymore.
Is this a bug or a feature that no longer exist? Please fix. thank you.

Unrecognizable when Color Setting is set to Japanese name
OS : Windows 10/11
InDesign : 18.1/ 17.4/16.4.3 (probably all versions)If I save a color setting with a Japanese name, the next time I open the color setting, an error occurs and it is not recognized.
When I check the list, it is garbled and cannot be loaded.
The same problem does not occur when the same color settings are used in Illustrator.Since this problem occurs in a Japanese environment, the contents of the screenshots and attached file names are in Japanese.

カラー設定を日本語名で保存した場合、次にカラー設定を開いたときにエラーが発生して認識できません。
リストを確認すると文字化けしているため、読み込めない状態となっています。
同じカラー設定をIllustratorで利用した場合は同じ問題は発生しません。日本語環境で起きる問題であるため、スクリーンショットの内容や添付ファイル名は日本語です。

The shortcut for Bridge opens Bridge every day, repeatedly by mistake. Can it be altered?
It's kind of a bug since it opens when I don't want it to, so I placed my question here. As I type, every day I open Bridge by mistake. Can I change the shortcut, or disable it, and how do I even find it?
As far as a bug alert, could Adobe change the default shortcut to Bridge, so it doesn't open 10 or more times a day as book editors like me edit text for 8 hours. I don't even know what I am typing incorrectly to open Bridge.

Why can't InDesign import and edit pdfs or images without plug in
When I try to import pdf or jpeg into Adobe InDesign 2023 desktop it says required plug in is missing. Since I am paying monthly for the full 2023 version why do I need a plug in? I am on older computer that uses Windows 10. Will I have this problem if I upgrade my computer?

Converted linked InDesign document saved in last used folder, not folder where it lives
Steps to reproduce:
- Have an InDesign document with a linked InDesign document. That linked document is saved by an older version.
- Open linked document by Alt-double clicking.
- Save file. You are now presented with the last used folder, not the folder that the linked document lives in.
This USED to work fine.
