  1. Separation preview ink percentages wrong

I just upgraded to the 2022 (v17) version of InDesign, and my separations preview percentages are blatantly wrong (e.g. what should have 200% ink coverage was showing up as 0% for every swatch). Even when it gave believable percentages of ink coverage, it still lagged significantly behind the 2021 (v16.4) version. My coworkers had the same issue, but when we reverted back to the prior version, we had no trouble.

  3. AdobeFnt.lst automatically reappears after deleting

    InDesign version: 15.0.2

Suddenly (after the latest March 2020 InDesign update?) the AdobeFont.lst file created with InDesign packages automatically shows up with folder structure after deleting a package. This is really aggravating for file management. It's as if my team can't fully delete InDesign packages. This is happening with multiple InDesign files on multiple machines.

  4. Cannot print with trapping turned on

After installing the newest updated version of InDesign today whenever I attempt to print a two color job as separations with the trapping turned on I get a message stating "the engine failed to output due to an unknown error." It's kind of important to have the trapping on with tight registration print jobs.

  5. update package

Instead of making a new package every time it would be really handy to be able to update an existing package.
    proposed Use Case/action:
a new menu item: Update Package… > Show package in Finder/Windows Explorer > Only the items that are not in the existing package will be added (the items in the package that are not used will be kept in the updated package)
    Thank you

  6. Printing Documents with VFs directly from InDesign is broken, need to export to PDF first

    Hello support team!
We at Dalton Maag noticed that we couldn't print documents containing variable fonts directly from InDesign 16.3 on macOS Big Sur. Export to a PostScript file produces a broken file. The document needs to be exported to PDF first. We found this issue on our client font but managed to reproduce it with Source Serif VF from https://github.com/adobe-fonts/source-serif/releases/tag/4.004R.

I sent the following files to Josh Hadley at Adobe:

    • A ZIP containing test documents, a broken exported PostScript file and a correctly exported PDF file
    • An AVI showing how we tested
    • A JPG showing what comes out…

  7. Saving postscript goes to wrong folder

Indesign 2022 17.0 is saving postscript files to the wrong folder. It saves to the last folder that a postscript was created in rather than the folder the document was opened from. I've tried resetting preferences but that did not help.

  8. Fonts not copying when packaging a file

I've been having issues ever since the update of InDesign 16.4. The issues have been fonts copying over when packaging a file. It's on all computers MacBook (personal) and two iMacs (work). Projects have been different but have same issue. So far I've only gone the manual route to retrieve the fonts but main problem is still ongoing. The fonts aren't from type kit or have certain permission restraints. These are purely installed fonts that I've had zero issues in the past been using them for the past 2yrs and ever since the update they no longer copy over. So…

  9. InDesign 2022 crash when packaging

I just updated to InDesgin CC 17.0. I have a MacBook Pro 2020, with OS 10.15.7. Trying to package InDesign document with fonts included causes the application to hang up and I have to force quit it. When I tried to package without fonts included, it worked, and saved the links.

  10. packaged files not preserving paths

In latest release of Adobe InDesign 16.2.1 for Mac 10.14.6, an issue occurred when updating a file PACKAGED from an earlier version of InDesign.

    Issue was:
Document contained tifs and jpgs that contained work paths. In original document, work paths had been used to clip the images.
However, when document was PACKAGED and then opened in ID16.2.1, the paths have not been preserved. They are still in the photoshop file and can be updated by replacing or relinking the image and showing image options to apply the path information, but this is potentially a catastrophic issue for providers like ourselves…

  11. No preset options showing in InDesign when trying to output high res pdf

Yes, I'm trying to output a high res pdf for print and I'm attempting to apply the usual Colour conversion / Destination and only offered either CMYK or RGB as an option.
No other presets. E.G Working CMYK- Coated FOGRA39 etc.
Any suggestions anyone.. on How I can fix? I have already Uninstalled InDesign 16.1 and then reinstalled. I tried outputting to pdf in Photoshop it seems fine - all options showing.
I looked in Library in Presets and there only seems to be a in Alias see attached

  12. Printing a document with variable fonts garbles them

(I sent test fonts to Josh Hadley at Adobe yesterday, i.e. Aktiv Grotesk VF)

    1. Select variable font from the menu (e.g. Aktiv Grotesk VF)
    2. Select world-ready composer
    3. Select a couple different instances from the drop-down or select an instance via the slider (e.g. Black, Bold, Regular, Light) and set some text in each
    4. Print the page from InDesign on a PostScript printer

See the attached image. What should happen is that the repeating blocks of text should be set in the different instances you selected in step 3. They are replaced by a random font instead, only the first instance…

  13. Don't print 1 page - reports page is empty

I cannot print document - only 1 page - report about error on the upload file.
I changed font, made new page... nothing.

Possible task from the teacher for my granddaughter is not good :-)

    I made:
    - restart InDesign
    - update system (MacOS Big Sure 11.3.1)

  17. small window when packaging files

InDesign 2021: When I go to package a file the window that comes up is now small. It used to be larger. I have to expand it every single time I want to package so I can see my folders. Is there a fix to put it back to the original size or if I adjust it can stay the same size?
    See attached files please.
Thank you so much for your help.

The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2021(v16.1.0.20). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

  18. Big Sur "Half Fold - Print Outside" Bug

Printing from a Mac with OS Big Sur, Version 16.1 Indesign. Ricoh MP C3504ex with PostScript card.

The printing option "Half Fold - Print Outside" will result in only 1 print no matter how many copies you choose.

Example I want 15 copies of a church bulletin I apply the necessary settings and hit print. Instead of getting 15 I only get 1.

Tested on High Sierra with Indesign V 13.1 and it works perfectly.

  19. Print InDesign

Develop some way for the printer settings to be put in order. I work with 18 HP 9050 printers, both with the same drive and configuration, but in InDesign they get jammed. Example:
    Printer 1 (Standard)
    Printer 5
    Printer 16
    Printer 3
    Printer 8
    Printer 2
    etc...
