1. hyphenation error

   When hyphenating a word like 'Groot-Brittanië' the hyphenated word shows two dashes which of course is not accurate.

2. Arabic diacritic positions corrupted when inserting footnote reference or Index page reference

   Indesign version: Last versions and older versions
   Steps to reproduce: Add footnote reference or Index page reference, some words in the same line will have dots and diacritics positioned wrongly.
   Expected result: Text should be the same before and after Reference insertions.
   Actual result: Diacritics and dots of some words in the same line gets repositioned wrongly.

3. 行スタイルのバグ？

   InDesign 2020（バージョン問わず発生）
   MacOS X Mojave 10.14.6
   MacPro6,1

   カレンダーの作成時に行スタイルを使って、日曜日を赤色にする文字スタイルを設定しています。1[強制改行] 2[強制改行]…のようにテキストを作成し、行スタイルで…

   ［なし］　対象6行
   赤文字　対象1行
   ［繰り返し］対象2行

   と日曜日を自動的に赤色の文字スタイルを適応させます。

   その後、手動で祝日に文字スタイルを適応する際に「繰り返しをまたいで文字スタイルを2つ適応すると、2つ目が適切に適応できません」。

   例えば2月のカレンダーを作成する際に、11日と24日が祝日なので赤色にする文字スタイルを設定します。11日の文字スタイルは問題ありませんが、24日に文字スタイルを適応させると23日にも赤色の文字スタイルが適応されます。
   そして23日は文字スタイル「なし」を適応させても赤文字のスタイルが解除されません。

   テキストをコピー・アンド・ペーストすると元に戻りますが、保存して再度開くと同じ現象が発生する事があります。
   設定ミスなのか、バグかハッキリしなかったので投稿しました。ニッチな事案ですが皆様のご意見をぜひお願いします。

4. US English dictionary no longer picking up UK English words as misspellings

   I'm running 16.1. My colleagues are running 16. In neither version does the US English dictionary mark 'maneouvre', 'modelling', 'utilise' and 'organise' as misspellings even though they most certainly are.

5. Tables with slanted header row

   When tables have long names for column headers, a good design solution is to ***** the header cells and their text, from 20-70 degrees.

   The table still needs to be live, editable, and adjustable (both the cells AND text) so that when needed, the headers can be changed from 60 degrees to 45 degrees.

   And when exported to PDF and EPUB, it needs to have the required accessibility tag structure:

   All we can do at this time is merely rotate the text at fixed amounts: 90, 180, and 270 degrees (shown in the bottom of screen capture). This isn't enough for many table designs, especially for those needing to design for accessible PDF and EPUB.

6. Fit Content to Frame on textbox makes huge gap at the bottom

   InDesign 16.1 x64 on Windows 10

   When I select a textbox and select Fit Frame to Content (by shortcut, menu or toolbar button), the textbox is resized correctly on the horizontal plane, but the height of textbox jumps to an incredibly stupid size.

   Double-clicking on the bottom centre textbox frame handle then resizes the height correctly - thus creating an extra step for the functionality that was previously a single shortcut key.

7. adobe fonts not syncing properly with typekit

   Having issue with fonts syncing with cloud version of fonts. I’ve downloaded the Oswald font but only 2 fonts show up as cloud version and the other version all show up as TrueType fonts and I don’t even have the font installed?

8. Cannot place Excel .xlsm files

   Adobe InDesign 2021's File > Place... dialog does not allow the selection of Excel .xlsm files even though it appears to be capable of importing them.

   On Windows, this can be worked around somewhat painfully by showing "All Files" in the Place dialog, but in macOS there is no similar workaround.

9. Hyphenation at page break while option »Hyphenate Across Column« is not selected

   InDesign 16.0.2
   InDesign 13.1.1

   The option not to "Hyphenate Across Column" in hyphenation settings does not seem to work reliably. Not in InDesign CC 2018 and not in InDesign CC 2021.
   Sometimes it is ignored and sometimes it is taken into account. See the appended screenshots.
   With each recomposing of the text/stories, the behaviour can change: sometimes this way and sometimes that way.
   Please make the behaviour computable.

10. Apple M1 Mac mini. Big Sur, InDesign CC 2021, tables are SLOW

    I've created a 6 column, 355 row table. No fill, default black stroke. I've created this same table, from the same data 100 times on my 2015 imac, running InDesign 2017 thru 2020. High Sierra was the highest MacOS on previous computer
    When I copy a word or phrase (100 or fewer characters) and paste it into another cell, it is showing the thinking beachball for 15 seconds. I'm simply double clicking on 5 characters to copy, then clicking into another table cell to paste the word. Everything that I had previously completed using tables in previous versions was quick. The 2021 version running on Big Sur and the M1 chip is painfully slow.

    For several months now, when I place a .docx document in inDesign, it can happen that a character is misinterpreted by inDesign.
    It's as if it's invisible for the layout, but it actually cuts the word in half for spelling correction, for example.
    When I copy it to search for it with inDesign with or without GREP, it does paste something (a lowercase L or an uppercase i preceded by a ^ in normal or ~ in GREP) but it doesn't find it.
    When displaying hidden characters it appears as two vertical red dots (see my photo).
    Sometimes it also appears at the very beginning of a sentence.

12. Document Fonts slows everything down

    There is a huge speed / usability problem with text boxes that happens when there is a Document Fonts folder contiguous to the InDesign file. I think it doesn't even have to be a text box with a font from Document Fonts.

    Clicking into or escaping out of text boxes impossible or freezes InDesign. Whole app is super slow, and unusable.

14. Unable to type certain Hebrew letters with Diacritics on Mac

    On mac, some letters with diacritics has lost their ability to produce diactritics and no longer work.

    The letters and how to type them with Hebrew script installed on system:
    1. Vav Holam
    2. Vav Shuruk
    3. Shin
    4. Sin
    5. Lamed holam

    An InDesign document is attached with samples and explanations.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. On a mac, add Hebrew Script to you system language.
    2. Open InDesign Middle Eastern Version and create a text box with the a Right to left Text tool.
    3. While the system script is set to Hebrew, try to type the following letters with the following shortcuts:
    1. Vav Holam - Shift+u
    2. Vav Shuruk - Atl+u
    3. Shin - Shift+a
    4. Sin - Alt+a
    5. Lamed Holam - Shit+k

    Actual Result:
    1. Vav Holam - Shift+u Produce ו
    2. Vav Shuruk - Atl+u Produce ו
    3. Shin - Shift+u Produce ש
    4. Sin - Atl+u Produce ש
    5. Lamed Holam - Shit+k Produce ל

    Expected Result::
    1. Vav Holam - Shift+u Should Produce וֹ

    This was reported to Adobe Pre-Release on Oct 21, 2018 and nothing was done about it!

15. Converting footnotes to endnotes removes inline styling

    InDesign 16.0.1
    macOS 10.14.6

    Currently if using the 'Convert Footnotes and Endnotes' function, any inline styling of the text contained within the footnote is being removed. Eg text which is formatted as italic is being converted into non-italic etc.

    Fortunately this doesn't appear to affect any character styles which have been applied, but it still creates a very high risk of losing formatting.

    Ideally conversion from footnotes/endnotes should not alter the content.

16. Find Format and Change Format option unavailable in Find/Change-文字種変換

    Version : Adobe InDesign 2021(ver.16.0.1 ja_JP)
    OS : macOS10.15.6

    1.Steps to reproduce the issues
    1. Open Find/Change Window.
    2. Select "文字種変換" and click "Specify attributes to Find" and Select Style button.
    3. The selected Style does not shown in "Find Format" area and we can't apply it. However, click the button, we can see selected Style we selected previouse step.
    4. The Change Format in "文字種変換" also unavailable.

    2.Expected result
    The selected style is displayed correctly in Find Style area and is correctly apply.
    Also, the replacement style is set correctly in Change Style and replaced as well like InDesign 2021.

    1. Actual result We can't set Find Format and Change Format options in "文字種変換" in Find/Change window. Test file, screenshot, video or GIF capturing the issue (optional)

17. Adobe Fonts: Licensed with Creative Cloud but marked as "not allowed, protected" in Preflight, InDesign

    Please help me: I'm using two fonts for a book soon to be published. I have activated the fonts in Creative Cloud. I work in InDesign. Now a Preflight check tells me that my fonts are "Not Allowed: Protected" (that's the only way to translate that message from Swedish). How do I solve this??? (The fonts I'm using are Minion Pro and Myriad Pro). I thought my InDesign recognised licenses from Creative Cloud. Have I misunderstood this completely? Desperate, please give me clue.. 19. GREP search failed to match all text in a story

    We use to be able to search all text in a story by using this (?s).+ code. It’s working fine in CS6. But in CC2019, 2020, and 2021 on both Mac and Windows it will fail to select all text in the story if there is more than ~ 50000 character. Only the first ~ 50000 will be selected.

    This might be related to an old bug that was introduced in 14.0.2 that was fixed in 14.0.3.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Create a document with one story containing more than 50000 characters
    2. Do a GREP Find using (?s).+

    A similar issues when trying to use \X+ to select all text in a story. Only some portions of the text over multiple of ~ 50000 text will be selected.

20. Cannot use bold version of Adobe Caslon Pro in version 16.0.1

    In the 2021 version of InDesign, the bold version of Adobe Caslon Pro does not work. It leaves a blank space, and if you click on the opentype box, it says "opentype properties are not applicable." The font itself is not the problem...I cannot reinstall the fonts because creative cloud tells me they are already there. Caslon and all its versions are also correctly installed in my windows fonts folder. I also cannot export to a PDF when I have the bold version of Caslon on a page. I CAN see, print, and use the bold font in older versions of InDesign. Something is wrong in 2021 InDesign and needs to be fixed.

    In the 2021 version of InDesign, the bold version of Adobe Caslon Pro does not work. It leaves a blank space, and if you click on the opentype box, it says "opentype properties are not applicable." The font itself is not the problem...I cannot reinstall the fonts because creative cloud tells me they are already there.
