Compound path stroke incorrect
InDesign version 16.1 macOS. Haven't tested Windows, could be same.
Steps to reproduce:
In a new document, create a box.
Create a second, smaller box, inside the first box.
Select both and create a compound path (Object menu, Paths, Create Compound Path).
Select the object.
Give it a large stroke, for example, 10 points.
Set align stroke to outside shape.
Result: smaller, inner box (the "hole") has the stoke going same direction as larger box, when it should be reversed, going "outward" (toward the hole) instead of into the shape.1 vote -
Library panel not registering licensed images
Hi, for a while now the Library panel does not register when I license an image from Adobe Stock. I search for an image and place a watermarked thumbnail into the document (InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop). When the draft is approved I click on the license image icon on the image in the Library (or on the thumbnail image in the document) and the license process happens but the library does to update to show the licensed image. Thick-thin rule appears backwards in counters of a compound path
When the thick-thin rule style (or another that’s similarly asymmetrical) is applied to a compound path, the thick part is the outermost toward the outside of the shape, but not the innermost toward the holes or counters as one would expect. (I don’t recall seeing this in earlier versions, but I don’t use these rule styles very often.) To make the insides match (mirror) the outsides I have to stack copies of the object, each with its own simple rule.
Using v16.1 on MacOS v10.15.7.
P.S. Not sure what category this belongs in—sorry if it’s out of place.

Broken Creative Cloud links when linking to InDesign documents after InDesign 2021 Update
I work for a global creative agency. We use Creative Cloud for all of our lockups, logos and vector artwork.
Since updating to InDesign 2021, we've noticed that all Creative Cloud links are broken and when we export a file with embedded InDesign documents within it, we need to go through and open every single InDesign file again.
We now have to check every single link in every single exported PDF as there is almost always some broken assets that show up as white boxes.
InDesign doesn't give any alerts for broken links in this instance either.

CC Libraries placing permission error
Indesign Version 16.1
Mac OS 10.14Indesign doesn´t let me place graphics (testet JPG, PSD, PDF files) trough the CC Libraries panel. I can open/edit them, via double click, in Photoshop/Acrobat/Illustrator though.
I tested this with older libraries I already had a few versions of Indesign before. I also testet this with a library I just created. Still the same error .

items are missing from artwork when i copy it from illustrator and paste it into indesign. So frustrating!!!!
just make seamless copying/pasting between illustrator and InDesign.
would be even better if you can open an Illustrator file with InDesign. or if you could make InDesign like a render queue so you can better compress and save your photoshop and illustrator files to pdfs and other file types

Color profiles not working on 16 bit images
When mounting 16 bit images the program always assigns the dokument profile.
When convering images to 8 bit it works properly and the image profile is assigned.Only InDesign 2021 (v16.0)

InDesign doesn't sort numbers at the beginning of filenames naturally when placing multiple files, instead opting for alphabetical
InDesign CC 2020, 15.1.2 (Mac, but possibly Windows, I can't test)
Place multiple image files where filenames start with increasing numbers (e.g. page numbers).
Expected: files get placed in order 1, 2, 3, ..., 10, 11, ..., 100, 101, etc.
Actual: files get placed in order 1, 10, 100, ..., 2, 20, 200, 201, 3, ..., etcIt doesn't follow the OS implementation of natural order sorting, so placing a lot of images doesn't match the Finder. It instead uses alphabetical sorting, which is counterintuitive.

When relinking images, skip button does not work. In fact, it does nothing. InDesign 16.0.2 / macOS 10.15.7.
To reproduce, select links (missing or present, no difference) in the links panel, click relink then click skip...

Can't select gradients from swatches
Since installing the new InDesign 2021, I'm not able to apply my colour swatches to the gradient bar. When I click on a colour swatch, it changes the main fill rather than the gradient colour.
This was working before the update.
3 votesTo apply a swatch to one of the gradient stops, you have to hold down the Alt key and then click on a Swatch in the Swatches panel. Clicking directly on any of the swatches changes the fill color of the object to the Swatch color instead of changing the color of the gradient stop.
Please confirm the above in the previous release as well as InDesign 2021.—

Viewing page with linked image causes file to be marked as dirty (needs saving)
InDesign version: 15.1.1
Additional versions tried: 15.0.3, 15.0, 14.0.3
MacOS Mojave (10.14.6) on two different computersTo reproduce:
1. Create a new empty document.
2. Add a second page to the document.
3. Place Image, onto the page you're viewing (I did a PNG)
4. Save and close the document.
5. Open the document.

Image not populating in Data Merge
I have a file in which I merge in a PDF of a page, along with some variable text. I was seeing an ongoing issue where, when turning on Preview, the PDF image wouldn't appear, but there would also be no error.
After trying a few things, I realized that placing the pdf I wanted (on the pasteboard) while choosing an appropriate "crop to" setting, then turning Preview off and then on solved the problem.
I often place images with bleed, and the pdf file in question didn't have a bleed box, so I believe it was failing to import…

issues with video content being supported from Indd output to viewabiity and interface as pdfs in acrobat
make it so pdf's can have view-ability and functioning controler when exported from Indd. This used to work but has gone away. If you are phasing out flash please post a replacement. We dont all use digital videos linked from the internet and dont always have an internet connection.

Clipping paths with inset frame only use the main clipping path.
I have many photos with clipping paths that exactly outlines the garments. When using these against a backdrop, there is a thin white remnant of the white backdrop. To avoid this I can use INSET FRAME on the clipping path.
But, if I use inset frame, the "internal" paths are disregarded and it only uses the first clipping path.
I know I should fix the images, but it would take me ages. I have requested the different photographers to make the paths correctly, but they tend to revert to setting the paths at the garment edge. I do not know…

Photoshop .psb files grayed out in InDesign Open window.
Hi,
Photoshop .psb files grayed out in InDesign Open window. You cannot place PSB images using the "Place" command. However, you can drag and drop the file from the desktop into a InDesign picture box.Photoshop version is 22.1.1

macOS Catalina v10.15.7In fact, graying out of legitimate files happens on Catalina with other software. Excel sometimes cannot access to .xls or .xlsx files via the Open window.
Sometimes legitimate files appear grayed out when the Open window is first opened but may turn black after few seconds.

Font issues
You spend a few hours in InDesign working on font title layout... come in the next morning to work on the document and the fonts you selected were no longer available...

Links panel misreporting ICC profiles
I would like the ICC column in the Links panel to actually show the ICC profile of the linked images. Right now it's misreporting image ICC profiles as "Document CMYK" when they are not, in fact, in that color space.
I have an InDesign document that's using a CMYK profile of "U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2". It incorporates two copies of the same image, each with different CMYK profiles, "GRACoL 4c BW" and "CGATS21_CRPC1", respectively.

The "Object Export Options" menue will not open in german InDesign-Version 16.0.1
Das Kontextmenue "Objekt Exportoptionen" lässt sich nicht öffnen.
Bei einem Click darauf bzw. mit rechter Maustaste ausgewählt, gefriert InDesign ein und crasht.
Da ich barrierearme pdf-Dokumente erstellen muss, ist diese Funktion extrem wichtig für mich.1 vote
