New Bug Indesign 16.2.1 | Contours conversion error (inside/outside aligned)
This bug seems to only affect older InDesign documents and graphic elements from them that were created before the update to 16.2.1. The bug can NOT be reproduced in completely new 16.2.1 documents with newly created elements!
What happens:
For example, if you create a circle with the dimensions 200X200mm and a 10mm thick outline, this results in a circle with the dimensions
210X210mmBut if you now change the contour orientation from center to inside, the dimensions change unproportionally in height:
Instead of 200 x 200 mm the circle becomes quasi
an "egg" 200 x 199.999 mmIf you…

Edge smoothing in Indesign 16.3.2 creates lines where there should be none!
Something that is extremely annoying and obstructive when designing. This was once different and better!
No matter if e.g. black or dark frames with white "narrow - narrow" outline or areas that cover others, hairlines appear everywhere where there shouldn't be any.
I don't know with which update this has crept in. But it nevt infinitely and it was no improvement.
The only way to get rid of these lines is to disable edge smoothing completely. But then you have a pixelated view with the charm of the 80s. So this is not an alternative either!

Option + drag and shift to contstrain keys not working
InDesign 16.0.2
The usual function of holding the option key on mac and dragging an object to duplicate has stopped working. In the same way, clicking shift when moving an object or drawing a frame no longer constrains it's dimensions.
Both of these features still work fine in Illustrator (25.1)
The attached video show me trying to draw a square by holding shift when drawing a shape but it doesn't constrain the proportions as it should. It also shows me then trying to duplicate the shape by holding option (mac) and dragging. The cursor changes to suggest that it's working…

Handling error sizing with frame with contour (centered/outside).New bug!? Frames with contour: Are now shifted into each other after simult
Scaling with undesirable erroneous result:
Affects frames whose outline is either:
A. centered or
B. aligned to the outside of the frame
(Frames where the contour is aligned on the inside of the frame are not affected by this error. There the scaling still works correctly as desired).Recently, such frames (with a contour A/B) shift into each other undesirably after simultaneous resizing (see screenshot) and lose their original arrangement to each other!
I don't know with which version this new bug appeared,
but it is annoying and makes work slower again. With Illustrator the error does not occur. There…

No frame edges for lines or ankerpoint visible anymore?
Problem: Line objects no longer have "frame edges" in the normal view! Lines without line thickness, white lines (which do not lie over a background), individual nodes are thus invisible in the layout!
To find slipped lines again or to find several rest fragments like single nodes again becomes a patience and search game!
The (line-) or frame edges appear only if you either select everything or if you move the mouse over the line or the single node randomly (mouseover). Simple is different!
This was not always so! No idea when this was changed! But it was a very…

Flipped text in PDF created from Canva
When placing a PDF with certain stylized fonts, the text is being flipped and enlarged. Seems to be specific to Mac OS.
PDF docs have been created in Canva. They appear correctly when opened in Adobe Acrobat Pro, both on Windows and Mac. They are being placed in InDesign, and at that time the text titles being flipped and enlarged. I am working from v. 16.0.1. This was not an issue in previous versions. When I use png docs instead, and place those, I have no issues. I have been an Indesign user for about 3 years.

Unable to drag & drop images into Indesign 2021 Open File
- Set-up a new document
- Have added text and images as normal.
- Command + D is successful when placing an image, however, drag & drop does nothing. No image shows in the thumbnail near the cursor either.
This is an issue as it is much quicker to drag & drop than placing the images from different locations.

Cannot place this file. Invalid PNG file
In 15.0.3, my publication was print ready
I updated to 15.1 as I normally would.
In 15.1, particular .png files were missing. I tried to place the missing images as usual but got the error - Cannot place this file. Invalid PNG file'.
I rolled back to 15.0.3 and am now able to place the self same files.
Update bug?

Big problems with Illustrator files in InDesign
When I change something in a linked Illustrator file it doesn't update the image on the page in InDesign even though it's refreshed in the link tab.
And today I saw that a part of an image was missing (a little bit was outside the image frame) in a pdf file. So I looked at the InDesign file, but it looked ok. Then I changed the image to show in high resolution and all of a sudden the page refreshed and the linked file was updated and was now showing the same error as in the pdf.
So it seems…6 votes -
Images not importing within frame
Indesign has started randomly importing images incorrectly - sometimes with the frame much larger than the image, sometimes with the image out of the frame bounds, forcing me to resize each frame to fit the image. Very frustrating.
See screenshot of image as it should import on the left, and on the right how it actually imports.

Drag-Duplicating using Alt/Opt key does not work if key is pressed after dragging
I am working on Mac OS Big Sur v 11.3.1 using Indesign CS 2020 16.2.1.
I cannot duplicate images using the command option shift key.
I have also noticed that holding the shift key down to proportionately size images is also not working. Could you advise if this issue can be solved? I have read the thread posted in 2020 and it said it was under review. I tried the workaround suggested changing live Screen drawing to "never" but this has not changed anything. Please help! Placed graphic displays and exports outside stroke.
A placed graphic will show onscreen and in graphic exports like PNG and JPG outside the stroke when the stroke is aligned to the inside of the frame. InDesign 2020 and earlier. To reproduce: place a graphic, add a stroke to the frame, align stroke to inside, export the page to jpg or png. A thin portion of the image is visible outside the stroke. Obviously, this is most noticeable when the stroke is thick and white.

Compound path stroke incorrect
InDesign version 16.1 macOS. Haven't tested Windows, could be same.
Steps to reproduce:
In a new document, create a box.
Create a second, smaller box, inside the first box.
Select both and create a compound path (Object menu, Paths, Create Compound Path).
Select the object.
Give it a large stroke, for example, 10 points.
Set align stroke to outside shape.
Result: smaller, inner box (the "hole") has the stoke going same direction as larger box, when it should be reversed, going "outward" (toward the hole) instead of into the shape.1 vote
