Allow Nonprinting to have a keyboard shortcut
Nonprinting should be able to be assigned a keyboard shortcut. It is often used with text variables--if you are manually entering a separate "first on page" header, you don't want that printing, and a shortcut to make it nonprinting would be a time saver.

Reinclude the cutter tool
The cutter tool has not been included as it was in old Pagemaker This tool is very useful. Without this tool, if you import an Autocad drawing, it is not possible to resize the content to the frame. I recommend to include this tool as it was in Pagemaker.

There can be a lot of ways to do that.
The easiest way is just to allow InDesign to open the "gate" to the "cloud-folder" and read it from there, since it is already done from Illustrator and Photoshop.
another way could be th make a "ghost-file" in the local CC-folder that shows a mirror or links to the file from there.And there is possibly a lot of other opportunities aswell.
I just don't understand that two programs that is ment for each other like that has been made so much more deficit to work across. the cloud-based function has made the workflow much more difficult as of now.

Please change the cursor back to the black default when the world made sense for design pros.
Please revert back to the action of the toolbar where "V" or the select black cursor is the default. It makes zero sense for the "A" direct select cursor to be the default.

Rework Paragraph menu
Make it more logical:
Indents & Tabs
Alignment & SpacingIndents & Tabs belong together.
Alignment & Spacing are both regarding vertical position.
Also this will make Align to Grid better findable - it's in an unlogical tab now ('Indents and Spacing')1 vote -
data merge for interactive elements
Data merge in Indesign works great, but only with text and images. Is it possible to make data merge possible for documents with interactive elements with buttons or hyperlinks for example?

Film and TV Scripting
Basically taking a lot of what was available on the scripting side from Adobe Story and integrating it into incopy similar to a new work window layout like we get in Premiere ( Assembly/Edit/Color etc). While I miss the production side of what was available in story, the basic scriptwriting side is the biggest loss. If not then having some form of automatic layout feature for film and tv scripts would be great.

Create New Layer more specific
A new layer is currently always created at the top, which most of the time requires dragging the layer to ********* the right level.
Why not make the function more sophisticated, and let the user choose for:
-On Top
-At Bottom
-Above Selected

I find myself dragging newly created Layers all the time. New Layers are always created on top. Why not make a more sophisticated interface that allows a New Layer to be created:
-On top
-On bottom
-Above Selected

Grid guide for graphic frames
In much the same way that the crop tool in Photoshop has optional grid overlays (rule of thirds, golden spiral etc), Indesign could have the option to toggle these on/off for graphic frames.
This would be immensely useful for positioning images in graphic frames – for example when placing a headshot and wanting to align the subjects eye using the rule of thirds or golden ratio.
This would be far better than having to crop/resize images in Photoshop in advance, particularly because you can then adjust the size of the graphic frame in Indesign without having to redo your crop in Photoshop.

Add PDF Downloads to Publish Online Dashboard Analytics
It would be really useful if PDF downloads was a statistic added to the Analytics in the Publish Online dashboard.
Our company, as I am sure many others are, is strattling the line trying to figure out what documents are still necessary to print and what documents can exist solely as digital documents, and it would be really helpful to know how many people are still going out there and downloading a copy. This would require some inference on our end, but we could then determine how many people want their own copy of a document and how many are possibly printing this document for themselves if they have the capability.
It wouldn't paint the full picture for us, but knowing the statistics for this already existing feature would allow us to share with our executive team and board members some data that would allow for a more educated decision when it comes to printing documents such as our product catalog.
Such decisions are a matter of money and user satisfaction, so I think this would be a very helpful statistic to include in the Analytics. I appreciate your help! Thanks!

Turn off rotate object when cursor at corner
Currently, when my cursor hovers at a corner of an object or frame, the rotation icon comes up, alternating with the expand arrow. I would like to be able to turn off the "rotate" option, as I very rarely rotate objects – but I very often scale from corners. I spend far too much time battling the cursor, which keeps wanting to rotate, not scale the object. Thus, the ability to turn off the rotate option in preferences would be a huge time saver.
Someone else posted this idea. It would be an easy fix that would really help power users. Thanks!

I would love to be able to create several different "share for review" files for one document
I have a file that is being proofread by three different teams; graphics, copy, and general flow. I want to be able to share a review file with each team, but do not want them all to be reviewing the same review file.
I made a work-around by saving 2 copies of the InDesign file and creating a separate review files for them, but then I have to keep the original .indd file open and attend to the edits from the other two review files using the published web review files and then transcribing them to the original .indd file.
Is this something that can be done? Thanks!

See other units of measurement quickly and easily without changing them for the program.
It would be great to be able to easily see the dimensions of a document in a different unit than using to design. For example, I always design in picas, but often want to check the size in inches. Currently you have to change the units for the whole program, and then switch it back.

Selection dialog when loading master pages
Contrary to dialogs existing for loading character/paragraph styles or cell styles where we can select what to load there is none for loading master pages.

Share for review (Features that can improve it)
A few things that would improve this.
Auto-updating the viewer's side of the document after you save the document instead of refreshing it every time or having to update the link.
When they comment/draw on that it shows on the designer's side in the application as a popup on the document that they can add a checkmark afterward or comment if needed. This would basically bridge both ends to see live updates and live suggestions in the application and on the viewer's side.
It would also make the designer's life easier to go between tabs or applications to see the edits wanted.

Provide a linking feature to duplicate text from one frame into others
It would be highly valuable to be able to define a parent text frame and then link that frame to other frames in a layout that duplicates the text in that frame.
This would be similar to the way that text links in alternate layouts work, but the styles to the linked (child?) frames are allowed to be independent of the parent.
Trying to use text variables for this kind of duplication runs into the multi-line issue. Copying linked frames from alternate layouts will result in the parent style of the linked text to overrun any changes made to the child.
An example use for this would be printed tab layouts, where the from one frame in the layout typically appears on the tab front, tab back, and back of the tab. Having these frames linked to automatically refresh the only text of the parent while maintaining the unique styles required by their placement would be an elegant solution.
Also, this would provide a unique opportunity to make more graphical use of text in reliably repeatable ways, as one frame could control text in many frames, styled, arranged and layered in more artist ways, but still editable with little effort.

view style dependencies
This has already been suggested but I would like to add.
The problem with viewing style dependencies using the twirling arrows is that the styles might well be in different groups.
Could we get an option to open (and maybe print) a panel with the style dependencies listed?

Add all DC Pro Roles to inDesign Export Mapping
Currently, the export mapping for styles in inDesign is limited and does not include all the tags that are available in DC Pro. Some important tags that are missing are BlockQuote, Note, and Caption. This creates a lot of accessibility remediation on the pdf side because of role mapping is incorrect. If I have s style in inDesign called Caption then I should be able to use the export mapping features of that style to assign it to the reserved word Caption in DC Pro. This would eliminate unnecessary work and replace/find searches in the pdf when remediating for 508 accessibility. When working with extensive documents, some are 300 pages+, it takes many hours just to correct the BlockQuote, Note, and Caption tags in Acrobat.
