Update only some pages of an earlier exported PDF
When Exporting a big document, sometimes after a change it would be nice to update only the changed page in the exported file.
- it would save time as the export would complete faster
- no need to have all the linked files of the whole document locally just to update one page
- it would save me exporting one one some pages and then opening the old PDF file in Acrobat and replacing the updated page manually.1 vote -
Window size-changing
I find that Photoshop, Acrobat, Bridge and Dreamweaver all follow Apple’s standard of double-clicking at the top of a window to make it expand to full screen or return to the previous size. InDesign (v.19.0.1) apparently does not (I use only these five Adobe Cloud apps). InDesign windows will double-click expand to full screen but won’t returning to their previous size. The alternative, dragging the right-hand edge, is very tedious.

Can we please remove all the question marks from InDesign placeholder text?
All of the question marks in placeholder text are an unrealistic representation of typical body copy. I end up having to remove them all when developing layout comps. Not a big deal, but annoying.

native comments
Give us us native comments within inDesign, or at least allow the person who shared a document for review to add comments in/from the file itself. I currently have to share for review just to add comments to my own file, which adds another stage to our process.

Move the Share for review search box
The share for review search box is in almost the same place as the type a comment here box, which is really confusing. It's too easy to write a comment rather than search for the text. Also the search box is slap bang on top of the highlight button etc.... so I search for a piece of text that I wanted a comment on and then have to close the search box before I can highlight it, making a long process even longer.

Share for review Keyboard shortcuts
Give us keyboard shortcuts for highlight this text plus this colour. At the moment it takes a looong time just to get to typing in the comment. This would streamline the process, making it much more efficient.

carry colours from Share for Review comments over to those same comments when they're shown in the indesign file
carry colours from Share for Review comments over to those same comments when they're shown in the indesign file. At the moment all highlights default to yellow.

Title.indb as a text variable accessible for any document part of the book
Title.indb as a text variable for any document part of the book. Sometime when a book is printed (especially direct to print proof) it's difficult to know (remember- follow) which version you're at without putting the info inside the book itself. Having a text variable that updates automatically would be nice, you place it - you forget it - one less thing to check when printing

Improve IDML accuracy
Currently, IDML export is not accurate: opening the IDML file in a previous version – even the most recent – results in errors in paragraph numbering and cross-references. Exporting long document results in such a long list of errors which would be so time-consuming to fix that makes it unfeasible.

Indesign 2024
To the developers:
I am in charge of a newspaper in the north of Spain, ALERTA. I am considering whether to switch to the new InDesign 2024 following the information from the presentation meeting your company held. It has taken me time to adapt our catalog to your new policy on Type 1 fonts. Once this issue was resolved, and I was able to look at the new features of the new version, I found that some of the things said in that presentation are either false or not entirely true to reality. That story about the new paragraph styles (something that honestly doesn't interest me because we have them well defined for all publications - we are part of a group that also publishes magazines and supplements of different characteristics) I read that it is only available for the North American and German versions. What a genius to leave 600 million people out of the update. My native language is the second in the world in number of speakers, after Chinese and ahead of the languages of India and English. Maybe German is very important for Berna (I have a berner senner). Aside from the irony, what I really want to know is whether what was said there is true. If InDesign 2024 has AI. And I'm only interested for one reason. Your company said this:
"Summarization and Automatic Content Generation.- AI can assist in summarizing lengthy textual content within InDesign documents, creating concise summaries, which saves time and effort for designers. Furthermore, AI-driven tools can automatically generate filler text or placeholder content based on a given theme, allowing designers to quickly visualize the layout."
After much searching and investigating, I believe (I could be mistaken) that the only thing your company has presented as an innovation in the new InDesign with 'AI' is the ability to adapt to the AI tools ChatGPT or Jasper, which we in the media have been already using for some time. Additionally, in my study about whether we should migrate to the new version, I have found, in addition to the problems with Type 1 fonts, issues with the Applescripts that are working perfectly in a previous version. Moreover, you do not offer support for third-party scripts when all of us who are dedicated to editing have our own scripts, meaning, all InDesign scripts are from third parties. Yours are just for tinkering. I see that the developers have opted for Java, something that may be positive, but understand that newspapers and magazines are not going to change what works well simply because someone understands that Java is more consistent and versatile. I also believe that java is better, but that does not mean that Applescript cannot perfectly fulfill certain functions, as it is indeed doing. That is to say, opting for Java and improving its integration should not have meant reducing functionality in Applescript. This is a very serious mistake.
If you confirm that all of the above is true, I only have one doubt left. When you say 'AI driven tools,' what do you mean? Have you developed your own plugins that link with ChatGPT? We have our own techniques for this 'novel' integration. However, I would be interested in trying yours if that is the case.
I am the Editor of a newspaper. I have been working with InDesign since the CS3 version, and we switched from Quark to your application because we understood that Photoshop was the future. We made the right decision and are happy working with Adobe applications, but I believe that your focus has lost its way and is now targeting graphic artists, which is respectable, but leaves companies that publish daily or weekly out of significant innovations. Painters, poets, and acrobats also feature in our pages. But a newspaper is a very serious business that many families depend on.

Give customers notifications when InDesign CC application and InDesign Server Updates become available
Give customers notifications when InDesign CC application and InDesign Server Updates become available. It's really inconvenient to have to dig around the web to try to find when updates for both are available. It doesn't seem unreasonable to send out notifications to customers of upcoming updates so we can prepare accordingly.

When using the "publish online" feather in ID, one gets a link - a rather generic (ugly ) looking link. Can you improve the appearance?
I would like that: the cover page, or another graphic, or at least the title of the document shows up in the link to the published document. Who would want to open this? See what is looks like below, and the idea that I could make a graphic that travels with the link - like other graphic attached?
