Keep active links when placing PDFs in InDesign
When you place a PDF with text and links into an InDesign file, the links are lost when you export the final file to PDF. This happens because InDesign treats the placed PDF as an image, so the links do not stay active. It would be very useful if the links of a placed PDF could remain active when exporting from InDesign to PDF. Thanks

Line-Based Paragraph Shading Option
Currently, InDesign’s Paragraph Shading feature applies shading across the entire width of the paragraph, regardless of the actual length of the text on each line. This often results in large shaded areas extending far beyond the end of the text, which is visually unappealing and requires complex workarounds.
Please add an option to apply paragraph shading per line, so that the shading extends only as far as the text on that line. This would allow for much cleaner typography, especially in cases like poetry, short line breaks, lists, or multi-line titles.

Exclude leading words from Table of Contents "alphabetical order".
I'd like to be able to exclude leading words such as "The" from the alphabetical ordering of the listings. We do a festival program each year with a sponsor directory and end up with a hug section under "The" like they're in their own little world at the end of the Table of Contents.

Add "Duplicate" and "Delete" option to Home Page of Indesign
When opening Indesign, the homepage that comes up could include a Duplicate Project button on a right-click menu. This would eliminate the need to open Files separately on my local computer, find the correct file, and copy/paste it there before I can have a duplicate from which to make new version changes. It could also include "Delete" or "Hide" buttons for managing InDesign files.
THis would save me quite a few steps that I need to take outside the InDesign program just to duplicate a project. Thanks!1 vote -
CMD+CornerRotation unsed, idea: Rotate around anchorpoint
While rotating an object with the default tool (not the rotation tool), the CMD-key is unused.
shift+rotate = rotate in 45° steps
alt+rotate = rotate and make duplicate
shift+alt+rotate = rotate in 45° steps and make duplicatecmd+rotate => rotate around the anchored point
cmd+alt+...
cmd+shift+...
cmd+alt+shift+...You get the idea.

Add access to photo albums in InDesign
I am working on an art book which entails inserting many photos. Because my photo library includes many different types of photos, the art photos have been segregated into an album. Unfortunately I cannot access that album directly, which means I will have to move all of those images into another folder outside of photos in order to insert them with Place. Please add album access to InDesign. I have given ID full disk access but that does not make any difference.

Improved Animation Features and Native Video Export in InDesign
Improved Animation Features and Native Video Export in InDesign
Dear InDesign Development Team,
My name is Eldad Pnini, and I manage a graphic design studio that relies heavily on Adobe InDesign -
not only for print design, but also for digital content creation.
Currently, InDesign offers basic animation capabilities, but we believe there is significant untapped potential. At our studio, we use InDesign to design banners, landing pages, social media posts, and stories - and simple animations (like entrance, exit, movement, fade, etc.) are a daily need. We would greatly appreciate seeing major improvements to the animation tools in future versions.
However, the most important feature we request is the ability to export animations directly from InDesign as video files - such as .mp4, .mov, .avi, or .gif. Direct export, without relying on intermediate files or external software.
Adding this capability would make InDesign a much more powerful tool for digital work, significantly increase its adoption among younger designers, and create a smarter and more streamlined creative workflow.
We’d love to know whether this is something Adobe is currently considering and whether expanded animation and video export features are planned in future versions.
Thank you in advance,Eldad. P

Prioritize Adobe Photoshop in “Edit With” context menu
Currently, InDesign relies exclusively on the operating system’s default application associations when generating the Right-click → Edit With menu for linked images. As a result, users often see irrelevant applications such as Microsoft Edge, Word, or generic photo viewers, while Adobe Photoshop (the natural and professional tool for image editing) does not appear by default.
This workflow inconsistency is counterintuitive for professional users:
InDesign is part of the Adobe Creative Cloud ecosystem.
Photoshop is the industry-standard editor for images.
Most users expect seamless integration between InDesign and Photoshop, without having to manually browse for Photoshop each time.
Suggested improvement:
InDesign should detect the presence of Adobe Photoshop on the system and always prioritize it at the top of the “Edit With” menu for supported image formats (JPG, PNG, TIFF, PSD, etc.). This would align with user expectations and the logic of Adobe’s integrated workflow. This change would save time, reduce confusion, and strengthen the cross-app consistency that Creative Cloud users rely on.

separations preview - keyboard shortcuts to toggle one channel on and off
At the moment, the separations preview has the ability to toggle ON an individual channel by using a keyboard shortcut e.g. viewing the Cyan channel only can be done by going cmd + opt + shift + 1. Similar shortcuts can be used for the M Y & K channels as well as 5 spot channels, and all 4 process channels at once. However, they only toggle the separation ON. What would be preferable would be the ability to toggle a channel OFF.
Here is a use-case: I'm a finished artist inspecting a magazine layout from my designer. They have used thin tinted black type over coloured areas and these will be an issue later. However to see this I have to - using my mouse - toggle the black eyeball on and off of the black separation to see where the white knockout of this light type would be. A preference would be to have a keyboard shortcut to toggle the visibility of the black channel only on and off, while keeping the other channels visible.

Preflight incorrectly flagging Adobe fonts as "protected"
Adobe InDesign's preflight is displaying an incorrect message whenever Adobe fonts have been used in artwork. The specific warning is "Fonts not allowed: Protected" and then suggests to change the font to something else.
I feel that Indesign is false-flagging these fonts as they behave differently to other fonts that are usually installed or referenced on a user's machine. If anything, the preflight shouldn't warn about them at all if they are correctly loaded.1 vote -
More controls for exporting form fields to Adobe
When exporting interactive PDFs, please include functions to (1) toggle on/off the highlighting in Adobe; (2) visually manage tab order without having to close and reopen the panel for each page; and (3) enable Reader users to fill-in forms.

Upgrade font selection dialog to match new Illustrator format and capabilities
The Illustrator team are upgrading the font selection dialog, so that there are now three versions: Photoshop's, InDesign's, and Illustrator's. At this point (September 2025), the Illustrator beta is the most capable and flexible.

Share for Review with ChatGPT
Can you allow Share for Review to connect to ChatGPT. I want to share it with ChatGPT and it will proofread it and populate a bunch of edits that I can go through.
Automated grammar/spellcheck with contextual awareness
• Visual layout critique suggestions
• “Tone” analysis for editorial documents
• Accessibility flagging (e.g., contrast, font sizes)
• Multilingual proofreading (Hebrew, English, etc.)
• Brand consistency checks (“Did I use the correct logo spacing or style guide font?”)1 vote -
Support compressing images with WebP when exporting with Adobe PDF Presets
When exporting a PDF, there are several options to compress images: JPEG, JPEG 2000, ZIP. And we can choose the image quality, from Min to Max. To a degree, PDF file sizes can be reduced with these settings, but at a certain point the image quality is too poor for anything meaningful. WebP has incredibly high quality for a low file size, plus it supports an alpha channel.

The Save a Copy default should be to not overwrite existing copies. Instead it should append a number to the filename of the new copy, the same way MacOS handles file duplicates. Overwriting could be a checkbox in the Save a Copy dialog box.
If it worked this way, I'd have a simple method of keeping versions of my files without having to remember to rename each copy. If there's another way to do this via a script, I'm all ears! Cloud docs are unfortunately not an option for me.

Please restore the "Paragraph styles: Edit All Export Tags" option to Keyboard Shortcuts
Possible to restore the "Paragraph styles: Edit All Export Tags" option to Keyboard Shortcuts? It is not present in InDesign 2025.
Would be so much easier than opening that command through the Paragraph Styles panel each time.

I would love it if InDesign could read sidecar files - xmp.
I create digital scrapbooks. I edit my pics locally in Lightroom - they are mostly jpgs. These are usually specific copies of images I have exported from Lightroom solely for the purpose of going in the scrapbook. The local edits all have xmp files because they have been previously exported. I don't want to have to save them again - I'm talking hundreds of photos spanning years. Hours spent on edits now I have to go back and re-save / export them all. It would be fantastic if InDesign just read the xmp file and brought them in with the edits. Once I have them in InDesign I just save the spread as a PNG and finish the pages off in Photoshop. I could just bypass InDesign, but nothing beats my system of using my template layouts with image placeholders and placing 8-24 pics at a time.

AI agent for remembering text content style
I often work with instruction manuals that have been poorly translated, and I need to reword them so they read clearly and professionally. A lot of the content is similar across different jobs, and I’d like to stay consistent with how I’ve written things in the past without having to dig through old files manually.
It would be great if InDesign had an AI agent that could:
Learn my style and remember my text preferences (e.g. whether I use “kg” or “KG”).
Automatically reference past projects so I don’t have to copy/paste from older manuals and allow me to ask questions (e.g if I have written something similar before).
Allow me to give it a database of text I may need to reference a lot (e.g generic safety warnings. Bonus points for the ability to group by product or specific uses)
Remember the style and layout of these types of text. (e.g if something would normally be written as a heading with a certain paragraph style)
