Missing Native macOS PDF/Email Workflow Support
As a macOS user, I’m frustrated by how the Adobe suite bypasses one of the platform’s most useful features: the ability to generate and email PDF files directly from the Print dialog.
macOS includes a built-in PDF menu that allows users to save a printout as a PDF or create an email with the PDF attached—no intermediate steps required. It’s fast, efficient, and built for productivity.
However, Adobe applications ignore this native integration. Instead, we’re forced to go through an outdated and cumbersome process: export the document as a PDF, save it manually, open an email client, and then attach the file. It’s tedious and inefficient, especially when the OS already offers a smarter solution.
Why doesn’t Adobe support this native functionality? Is there a reason behind this decision, or a known workaround that restores the ease of use macOS provides?
I really wish Adobe would respect native platform features instead of pushing users into unnecessarily complex workflows. It’s disappointing when a company with such resources makes everyday tasks harder than they need to be.

Displaying docs side by side; use the whole screen
I have two docs to either compare or take details from etc, I need them side by side, so I use the Window > Arrange option and have them in whatever config I need. They then resize to ⅔ the screen size next to each other. Then grabbing a corner to resize the window makes them jump all over the place. It works perfectly fine when I split a window (Window > Arrange > Split Window), it keeps the doc full size of the screen, so why not when tiling?

We need text variables whose values can change PER SECTION.
I'm mystified that there's no way to (for example) specify a name for a section in a document. "Section marker" is not a solution, because you frequently need to use that to display a section NUMBER (which should also be a built-in marker).
So I created a text variable called "section name," but found it was useless because there's no way to set a variable's value per section. Don't most document sections have names?

Scrollytelling! (InDesign Publish Online update request)
It would be amazing if you added "scrollytelling" capabilities to Publish Online!
Scrollytelling is the interactive, scrolling interactive online media that the NY Times and other sites use to craft stories in an engaging way. See Shorthand.com or Vev.design for examples. It seems like adding this functionality would bring life and added engagement to a piece of InDesign that I feel has been underserved for a while. How feasible is it to add Scrollytelling? Let's make it happen!

Besides entering coordinate values, does InDesign have a function to align two path points?
For aligning one or two points, the best way is probably to enter coordinate values, but can it be a bit slow sometimes.
Wouldn't it be cool to have this feature in the alignment panel.

It's not scientific, you can't set the units of the stroke by right clicking on the ruler?

It is highly recommended to add a stroke unit toggle on the right click of the ruler.

Share for Review - needs added feature
It would be extremely useful to be able to stop specific reviewers from commenting at a certain point - allowing others to continue. This would allow the wider group in an org. to comment - but then have the ringleader sort through their internal comments, accept them or remove them - then provide me (the designer) with a draft to make my edits from. Right now, people can still comment way after they have been told the commenting time is over.

Allow table row height of zero
Support hiding rows where all variables have blank results (like 6th row in a month calendar that is filled in with data merge from a txt file). That will allow the row to persist from year to year with the correct variables inserted into the right place, but allow manually hiding them (setting empty row height to zero) when the row appears empty (because the merged values are all blank)

Things on the artboard moves when adding pages
I work on long documents and sometimes I have notes/objects/revisions for my team about the page to the side in the artboard. But adding pages moves the artboard and it's object away from the page and sometimes I don't notice for a while. I recognize there is a notes feature, but sometimes it's alternate versions of a table or object that need to be reviewed before implementation or are on hold. It would be a really useful toggle option.

Data Merge for double-sided prints
Description
Allow Data Merge to generate fronts and backs across facing pages (e.g., page 1 fronts, page 2 backs) for multiple records. Why valuable?
It would eliminate manual workarounds when producing double-sided personalized items like event badges, saving time and reducing errors. Why is this valuable for me?:
I want to create double-sided badges for participants of an event.

Make new features available in all language versions of InDesign.
So, today InDesign 20.3 was released, including among other things the feature of converting PDF files to InDesign files, a feature that has previously been available in beta versions.
Now, for some unknown reason the feature is available only in English language versions of InDesign, which follows previous examples, where things as Style packs also doesn't seem to make it into other language versions.
My simple feature request is to stop this discrimination and make these features available across the board. There can be no logical reason why things as PDF conversion should be available only in English versions.

Allow Share for Review Comments to be Printed or Exported
I can't believe you can't print or export comments created during a Shared Review. I had a reviewer ask for her comments to keep as a record for the next round of document updates and there is NO FEATURE in the browser, or InDesign that will allow those comments to be printed, PDF'd, or exported (so I could import them into a PDF for permanent archival).
This is a HUGE missing feature.
My company archives all comments from InDesign's Share for Review and in some cases I've had them disappear entirely.
Adding the ability to print those comments to a PDF or export them to be imported in Acrobat would allow us to permanently archive the feedback without being dependent on a web link that may or may not save those comments in perpetuity.
As a workaround, I took a screenshot of every page of the document in the browser and placed those back into InDesign, then ran OCR on the exported PDF (so at least it is searchable).
It seems that it would be logical to add an Export Comments as .fdf option in this panel, or add a "Print Review Comments" button in the InDesign Print dialog.

Add AI-Powered Natural Language Processing (NLP) Engine for InDesign with Full Persian Language Support
InDesign is a powerful tool for multilingual publishing, but it still lacks smart support for right-to-left languages like Persian (Farsi).
We propose integrating an AI-powered Natural Language Processing (NLP) engine—especially with Persian language capabilities—to help automate and enhance the typesetting process.
🔍 Key Features this engine could offer:
Automatic detection and correction of text language (Arabic → Persian).
Intelligent number conversion (Arabic, Persian, or Latin based on text context).
Auto-insertion of half-spaces (نیمفاصله) where appropriate.
Smart paragraph and character styling suggestions based on content type.
AI-based proofreading and grammar suggestions.
Content-aware layout and reflow recommendations.
Summarization and auto-captioning tools.
💡 Why this matters:
Persian users face unique challenges when working with text-heavy documents. Currently, most corrections are done manually or with external scripts. A built-in NLP engine would drastically reduce the time spent on micro-adjustments and improve overall quality.
This would not only benefit Persian speakers, but also open up future possibilities for AI-powered publishing in other RTL and non-Latin languages.

A better, user friendly, way to create fractions
There should be an easier way to create a fraction beyond changing to an open type font that supports fractions. Something similar to what QuarkXpress does with its Make Fraction feature that can be applied to any font type at any font size.

convert metadata description to alt text
It would be so helpful if there was an option for image metadata like "description" or "keywords" could be imported as the alt text. Right now we need to go click on every picture to type it in for every document that image is used in and it is time consuming. If I could just add a description in the image in bridge/photoshop and then have that imported as alt text, it would save so much time trying to reprocess all our documents to be accessible.

numbering and sections export without prefix
Very often I include several different documents in one Indesign file, and then export by sections. The downside is that exporting by section includes the prefix in the PDF page numbers, and I have to manually remove the prefix in acrobat. It would be awesome if that feature could be optiona, similar to how it's optional to "include the prefix when numbering pages" which prevents the text variables page numbers from including the preflix.
