Make "split column" widths flexible
I use split-and-span columns frequently in my work. Often, with lists of names, I'll have that one name in a column that is just too long and wants to wrap. If I could adjust the column width after using the split-columns, that would be very helpful. As it is, I either have to decrease the type size or increase the right side margin, which messes with the body text width. Handling hundreds of links per page
When an index or end reference pages (normally jumps to pages) have hundreds of links then opening and closing the link dialogue box is a bit of a slowdown. There should be a live toolbar/dialogue box that can update live as you select each link (an overlay box normally used). This way you could drop boxes on top of each page number/chapter, then quickly hop from one to the next and change each one.

Link font size value between paragraph style
Add the feature to set the font size (and other value) as percentage, based on a "root" style. For example: create a "root" paragraph style with the size font set to 10 pt. Create a new paragraph style "first" based on "root" style and set the font size value to 110%. (=11pt). If the the font size of "root" style change, automatically change the font dimensioni in "first" style proportionally. Like the in the CSS language.

Apply color to linked vector file
Add the feature to apply the color to linked vector file directly in InDesign (as at present you can apply the color to bitmap or grayscale raster file).

Scoping of publish online feature
As an admin in a sensible industry, we want to provide our communication/marketing area the possiblity to PublishOnline with Indesign, but NOT to the rest of the users
As of today, and confirmed by Adobe support, this cannot be achieved, we cannot scope nor tweak or limit this feature to a specific set of users

Update links in the background
Links should be updated in the background. It is always annoying when you have to wait for an image to load (possibly off a server) and you have to wait for it. Maybe the frame to update should just be locked until updated but not the whole document.

Make Display Performance High Quality by Default.
I have been using Indesign for about 10 years. I thought in the past when you set display peformance to high quality, then closed and re-opened indesign, the setting would stick.
Now, on the latest version, I have to set it to high quality each time I open a document, which is stupid considering probably 95% of user's computers can handle high quality mode these days. It would be great if there were a way to group pages with the same header, or automatically have a header include all page numbers between the page the header appears and the next header appears.
For example, the publication I'm building has a few top-level categories, like Pens, Pencils, Pastels, etc… and then sub-categories of name brands within those main category sections, like Bic, Sharpie, Prisma, etc…

Change colour of text dependent on immediate background colour
Some of my jobs involve text being placed on a background image or company logo. Often,, this background has wildly contrasting colours/shades and the text immediately in front of it becomes invisible. I then change the colour of that text from, say, black to white, to render it visible again.
Unfortunately, if there are then any amendments to the text, the white text now lies over a light background and becomes invisible. Currently, I just go over the text with a beady eye and make the amendments accordingly.

QR code for EPC/Sepa cannot be generated in indesign
I do not understand why, but plain text qr codes for EPC/Sepa are not correct when generated in indesign. They cannot be scanned from the bank apps.

Bring back Plug-ins Menu
For managing plug-ins in the current version of InDesign one has to open the CC app and manage plug-ins there. This is unfortunate, since the CC app apparently can't manage installed plug-ins (read "update") without uninstalling and reinstalling the plug-in; the "Update" button in Manage Plug-Ins on CC doesn't work, since there is no way to "choose an application."

bookmark zoom level
It would be a lifesaver to be able to set the bookmark zoom level in InDesign (whatever it defaults to now, "Fit Page", I think, isn't great for everyone), so that when it exports to PDF you can already have it set to "Inherit Zoom" (or whatever you need) rather than having to manually figure out a way to do it in Acrobat.
