I want to be able to select multiple table rows that are not connected.
I would like the ability to select multiple table rows that are not connected. For example, I expected to be able to CTRL+Select the rows I want to change the fill color. For example, if I have 20 rows, but I want to select Row 2, 6, 8, 14, and 17 so that I am able to edit the fill color/text color/row height, etc. in those rows only. Currently, I have to do them all individually and in much larger tables (50+ rows.) It's such a pain!
The ability to fill every other row, or every third, etc. in the table styles is handy, but it isn't effective in every situation.
Thanks for raising this feature ask. We are reviewing this

Is Adobe too busy shoving genAI into every program to implement actually useful features? I cannot believe it's been seven years and Excel still runs better for formatting tables than InDesign.

I want this too! Also ability to select the TEXT within certain rows/cells and use the colour picker to select type styles the way you do with a normal text box.

Was this solved as Roberto stated on the 24th May 2024?

Me #302! I have to do a calendar with horizontally split cells, so I have to do this 365 x 2!!!

Are we still waiting for this to be "reviewed"? This would be such a significant update. I'm applying styles to rows that are not connected over a long table. Really really really tedious. Please Adobe, are you listening?

Excuse me, but this problem was solved? Thanks

This would seriously make a huge difference in my day to day work.

Surely this isn't hard to implement, and it would make formatting tables a lot easier!

This doesn't quite solve the ability to select alternating rows in indesign, but I've found using the colour picker tool to be a much quicker way to change the fill of alternating rows.
Change the fill of a single row to the colour you want, then grab your colour picker tool, and select that colour. You'll now see your colour picker icon has flipped and has a small "T" next to it. You can use this mode to go row by row to quickly change the colour of the fill to match the colour you initially selected in the rows desired. It's still a bit of a manual process, but I find it way faster than highlighting and manually changing the colour from your watches.

I just cast the 250th vote. That must entitle us to some progress, no?

Direct competitor software - Serif Affinity Publisher - can do this right now. It is called "discontiguous selections". Demonstration is here: https://youtu.be/8PiWMNzoVLQ?t=883

So how's that review that you responded to in mid-2019 going? It's almost 2022. Probably the most frustrating and time consuming (lack of) feature in InDesign.

Indesign users have been asking for this feature for 5 years....WHEN will it exist?
-
Eric commented
The only good thing about this page is knowing that I'm not the only one baffled that this feature doesn't exist yet.

Can we please have this, ctrl mouse click for selection would be amazing, a huge amount of my work is table based and changing the colour of a row as a result of a design review is very time consuming
