Hi,
Thank you for reporting the issue. We have been able to reproduce the issue, and it is currently under investigation.
Analysis
- We have been able to reproduce the issue on Windows, and it is currently under investigation.
- The root cause is that the UNDO stack is getting purged and the issue is getting manifested in History Panel.
- The issue is intermittently(depends on when InDesign chooses to purge the stack) getting reproduced on Windows machine only. The issue is not observed on Macintosh.
- It has started to be reported by customer recently 14-Dec-2025 onwards. A Windows update has been pushed on 09 December 2025 for Win11 23H2, 24H2 and 25H2. Refer to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/december-9-2025-kb5071417-os-build-22631-6345-5b7b15d8-96a2-4c8f-a61d-b5e1bc9618f8

This is happening to me after the 2026 InDesign update. Sometimes I will change some text and can't even undo that more than two steps. I'm on a remote cloud computer so there's little I can do to improve RAM or anything so your extremely delayed solution better not involve anything with that.

Not to mention, ligatures are digitally inaccessible to people using screenreaders and cannot be corrected by remediation software. The word "little" becomes "li[]le" for no reason at all and for some unfathomable reason, Adobe wants that as their default.

Thanks for raising this feature ask. We are reviewing this

Is Adobe too busy shoving genAI into every program to implement actually useful features? I cannot believe it's been seven years and Excel still runs better for formatting tables than InDesign.

Yes please! Even Word allows for making row headers so it's shocking I can't do that in the supposedly much more powerful InDesign.

Version 21.0 -- It's happening every few minutes as I'm editing text in my documents. People on the Adobe Community forums have been reporting it as an ongoing bug so maybe you could update your response to acknowledge the return of this old problem.
