cross references: character styles and case
At present, a cross reference takes its case from the destination. If I have used small caps for the destination style, but am referencing it from within text, I want to capitalise the term, but the cross reference takes its case from the destination, not the typed text.
To get what I want I have to cause a problem for the cross reference (yellow triangle with exclamation mark) and manually fix the capital start letter, or use hyperlinks and text anchor – a two-step action making a destination and hypherlink that cross referencing was supposed to fix.

Form Button Functionality Post to Social Media
Add a functionality option to form buttons that would allow for posting to social media (Facebook, Twitter etc.). This would allow the user to post an image of the form to social media (without the button showing) This would allow designers to create "form templates" that would allow the users even in Reader to post to social media.

Option to merge from PDF page other than page 1
It would be great t have the option to use a pdf in a merge and be able to specify which page of the pdf is to be used, instead of it just being the first page all the time.
Instead of just specifying filename in the mergefield, could we specify page number as well?
eg something like:
c:\docs\mypdf.pdf:2
to use page 2 of a pdf.

Help page gives incorrect information regarding PageMaker file conversion
Searched InDesign support for "pagemaker file conversion"
The top article (dated March 2017) is titled "Convert QuarkXPress and PageMaker documents to InDesign". Here's the address of this page: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/converting-quarkxpress-pagemaker-documents.html This article is part of the "InDesign CC User Guide." In the right hand column, it says it applies to InDesign CC. The first sentence in the Pagemaker section is "InDesign can convert document and template files from Adobe PageMaker 6.0 and later." improve software stability and cpu usage
ID has become increasingly unstable and memory hogging -
I'm using an 18-month old MacBook Pro; software regularly crashes; hogs cpu resources; slows mac down (performance significantly improves when I disable all adobe software) and unable to load files after ID software updates.2 votes -
Additional Conditional text options
I do a lot of publishing work, and one of the banes in the day of a Publishing Designer, is changing spines, it would be great is there was a conditional text option that enabled me to drag a box to the spine width and for that box to report it's width!
In an ideal world if it could also report the height so we can show the height and width of a book, it would be fabulous!5 votes -
Faster way of following hyperlinks
Make it so Ctrl-clicking a hyperlink (or cross-reference) takes you to the destination instead of having to clumsily open a dialog box, find the link, and push the corresponding button. (Didn't Pagemaker do this long ago?)

Export images with zero padding
When you export the naming is inpractical.

name_12.pngCould you at least enable automatic zero padding like this:

name_12.pngEvery week i have to rename at least 9 Files because of this.

Redirect links when file name changes.
Like a website that uses redirection for old pages, it would be nice to have a way to redirect InDesign links to new links. For example, when a file name changes due to a version number, date, or whatever.
the way I imagine it working is leaving a txt file behind with the old asset's name that has the new assets name within it. (maybe there is a better way to do this)

Layers panel addressing one page at a time (even with spreads) for 508 compliancy
My agency has to do a lot of remediation to our files to meet accessibility requirements. Currently we use the layers panel to arrange objects on the page so that the reading order makes sense when the PDFs are read using assistive software. With files set up in spreads, all items on the spread are considered in the reading order despite the final PDF being output as single pages. It would be nice if the layers panel could be configured to address one page at a time (vs. two pages, as it is now). For simple projects, the spread approach…

Can't place a .tif file without background to a InDesign. When I try to do it i see white background. Everything works fine in Illustrator. I import the same .tif to Illustrator and everything works properly. Why?

Menu size control
I need to create MOOC video captures with Id, Ps and Ai. There is a fabulous option : change UI text size in AI 2019 that should be placed in all CC tools. Especially with a need for more visible menus in video captures. After all, education trains future users. :)

Change Jpeg export default to 300 dpi (Or whatever your preference)
When InDesign restarts it defaults the export setting for jpgs to 72 dpi (ppi). I use a script that exports for me and needs to export at 300 dpi. With the default it will revert to 72 dpi every time I restart InDesign and I have to manually reset it to 300 dpi. There needs to be a preference or setting that makes it so I can keep my preferred setting of 300 dpi after a restart without having to manually reset it in the dialog box every time.

I always read only "new feature" "new feature" "new feature" that no pig needs !!!Oh one in your program you can not even CTRL + A (all Makieren) without having to wait 15 minutes)
My system: i9, 64GB RAM, M2 Raid 0 SSD ... Adobe programmers are really that bad ...

Search and replace fonts and colors on a part of your document or selected text
Replacing fonts or colors on specific pages of or selected text would come in handy and save me lots of time.

Preview Data Merge Causes Crash
InDesign crashes EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I try to created a data merged document and try to preview the merged content. This needs to be fixed. Data merge is one of the most important uses for InDesign for me and my work. Please help!
