Searched styles in Quick Apply or Most used styles
Got a lot of styles. Paragraph, Character, etc. styles. The Quick Apply helps to quickly find the the ones i need. So it would be nice that the last (maybe 5) styles that i searched will be on top of that Quick Apply window.
Or create a new window, and put the most used styles in there.

Allow set Style Override Highlighter as red stroke instead of blue background color so that it does not obscure style highlighting
Style Override Highlighter's appearance (blue background) conflicts with the still existing feature of highlighting styles with different colors, in order to visually identify what parts of the text use what style, accessible via scripts such as Stylighter (http://www.indiscripts.com/post/2013/11/stylighter-1-4-for-indesign-cs4-cs5-cs6-cc).
Being able to set it back to red stroke over text instead of a background color, as it was before the Style Override Highlighter button was officially added, would allow to see at the same time the style being used (by the color of the background) and whether it had overrides (by the presence of a red stroke). That was…

Grep: option to relink parent and child paragraph syles
I create an "A" paragraph style with some grep options and then create a "B" paragraph style based on the "A" paragraph style. When I add a new grep option in "B", style "B" breaks its link with "A", so if I change the grep option to style "A", style "B" keeps the "A" option original and don't update its grep option.
Please add an option to make it possible to keep the link between the parent style grep option even when I add a new grep option to the child paragraph style. Thanks.9 votes -
Multi Level Running Headers with Numbering
Add the ability to have multiple running headers. Specifically for multi-level lists that include numbering. Currently you can only select one paragraph style and it doesn't include numbering. It would be great to be able to create breadcrumbs for multi-level lists so you can show which section and subsection you're in INCLUDING NUMBERING. Currently the running header drops the numbering which is annoying.

Stroke Profile
Add in Adobe illustrators stroke profiles to indesign. The amount of times I've wanted to do a stroke in indesign with tapered ends and had to open Ai just for that one additional feature of control is too high

Character styles applied to paragraphs apply to bullets as well
99.9% of the time I want bullets to match the text color. When changing the character color via the Paragraph Styles palette or when selecting the text and changing the color via the color palette, the bullets do just that. But when I select text and change the color via a character style, the bullets don't follow suit.
To give you an example of why this would be useful to me, one thing I often end up doing is creating two versions of something: one on a dark background, one on a light background. The only thing different between the…

Allow default stroke alignment to be "Inside" even if default stroke is zero
I want to set the default stroke weight to Zero and the alignment to Inside. You can't do this. If you set default weight to Zero the default alignment setting is grayed out. So every time I have to add a stroke to a box I have to change the stroke alignment or it increases the size of the box. (If the default stroke weight is anything other than zero you CAN set the default alignment. Setting the alignment and then changing the stroke back to zero doesn't work. The default of Center returns.)

Extended "apply next stlye" feature
I'm looking for a feature where you can force-apply the "next style".
tl;dr: Force the "apply next style" to existing and already style paragraphs.
For example: When you create a headline-style and define another stlye as following "next stlye" everything is fine as long as you enter your text in InDesign. But if you're working with a text that is already written you don't want to use the option "apply style and next stlye" with every single headline. I want it to be automated.
What I want is: A feature that forces any already styled paragraphes to apply the next…9 votes -
Character Styles Change Case (Capitlaization)
Is it possible to include change case in character styles?
I realize there are already a few (small caps, all caps, OT all small caps), but I would like to have included lower case, title case, and sentence case, which are already in the type menu.
Thank you,

Implementing "Grep styles" like a "Character style"
Grep styles deserve to be used like any existing style.
This means:
1 - Having a panel where we can create/modify/ delete any grep style (similar use as the Character style panel)2 - Having the Paraph.style/Grep styles section revamped.
There, a drop down list allows the user to select existing Grep styles (If any)3 - a "+" button allows to add and implement some more Grep styles
This allows to use multiple grep stylesThe added value is to create only once a list of grep style actions. They can then be connected to paragraph styles easily.
This…

Make spellcheck apply to paragraph styles
It would be super useful to be able to run spellcheck only on certain paragraph styles. I run a directory that includes hundreds of names that get flagged, and if i I could run spellcheck just on body copy + headline paragraph styles, it would save me hours each month.

Spec Sheet for Paragraph Styles
I recently came across the need to print out a spec sheet of paragraph style settings from INDD. We're working with an outside vendor who is programming a proposal builder platform for our business development team. Basically, my design team created branded layout templates in INDD. We gave the vendor our native files, but their programmers need a written spec sheet of all the paragraph style attributes. From the paragraph style palette, when you go into each style, you can see the style settings, but you can't copy that text, nor export the settings as a spec sheet. I doubt…

Select All by paragraph style
I'd love to be able to select all text in the document by paragraph style. So, select all text with "Heading 1" paragraph style. And then I could copy and paste it into a different document. It would help for revising documents, so I can see the topics all together and reorder the outline of names.

Suppress Running Header on Chapter first page
Add a setting to Running Header to NOT DISPLAY if current page contains <chapterTitle> style.
This permits a document to reflow, changing pagination, while always suppressing the Running Header on the first page of a chapter. In this way, many documents would retain proper chapter start formatting without having to manually go through and apply a special Master Page (and remove the previous Master Page) whenever pagination changes.

External Styles / Style Libraries to push Style updates dynamically and automatically to all documents.
Please develop some kind of External Style file format, that can be applied locally, and hopefully, via the cloud. But at least locally, PLEASE.
It is a crime that InDesign currently has NO WAY whatsoever to keep multiple documents styles synced. I run into this deeply frustrating problem all the time.
Currently, If I create a template file with some styles, and use that to create documents, and then If I update or refine paragraph styles, character styles, table styles, etc — there is no way for me to easily carry over those same styles to all other documents that…

Creation of Table of Contents — Adjustable size of the interface window (width and height)
Creation of Table of Contents — Adjustable interface window (width and height)
When working in huge and very complex documents — with dozens and dozens of paragraph styles and very complex table of contents —, the limitations of the interface window are rather annoying. The window cannot namely be expanded to have a better view of the selected styles.
The number of visible styles is namely limited to four (see screenshot). And the width cannot be adjusted either.
It would thus be a considerable improvement if the window size could be customized in order to have a much better view…

Option to apply object styles on document import.
We should have an option to apply object styles on import. There used to be a script that would do this but it isn't updated anymore. The ability to load a place brush and choose an object style for each page as i place them would be a tremendous time saving workflow for importing long documents. If we could somehow build that into "multi-page Importer" that would add pages to my document on import, too, it would be perfect.

Separate the 'Merge Consecutive Borders and Shading' option into two
Currently in InDesign CC2019, if you have paragraph styles with the same 'Paragraph Border' and 'Paragraph Shading' settings, these will merge with consecutive paragraphs if the appropriately-named 'Merge Consecutive Borders and Shading with same Settings' options is set.
But what if you want to have consecutive paragraphs with the same border, but different shading, or vice versa? No options allow this.
I suggest that the 'Merge Consecutive Borders and Shading with same Settings' option is split into two; 'Merge Consecutive Borders with same Settings' under 'Paragraph Border', and 'Merge Consecutive Shading with same Settings' under 'Paragraph Shading'.
Having the two…
